Count me in for 2017 declutter. No target set as such - if I start counting items/listing things as I go along it'll just turn into procrastination, I know what I am like.

Going to check out the konmari threads too as really like her association with gratitude and positivity.

I hate waste of any kind but have ended up hoarding a lot of recycleables last year as was unable to get to the tip with them. Pees me off that some things like tin foil can be recycled at the tip but not in wheelie bin recycleables even though they are collected/sorted by the same company. I now know the vast amounts of chocolate I eat as I have two massive balls of silver foil from my favourite noms of 2016!

Made a start yesterday evening :-)

I have that guilt of putting things i know can be recycled into the bin too - tetra packs and foil aren't allowed in our recycle wheelie bin, and i can't get to an alternative place to recycle them in sufficient time before they start to take over the kitchen!

I *need* to be back in again, though felt completely demotivated mid last year due to amount of husbands clutter/stuff/lack of any interest in getting rid of *anything*... he also got 4 boxes of magazines as a christmas present that is filling the dining room atm!

I would love to join please. My first baby is due in March so I want as little clutter in the house as possible. We're having quite a lot of work done on the house during the next few months, so will definitely need a clean and tidy space for people to work in.

I'm quite a tidy person, the problem is my husband, he is such an hoarder but does realise that his clutter definitely needs to go.

I'm starting this evening by packing away the Christmas decorations and any recycling.

Thank you Sa1sysoo for the lovely mention in the first post :)

I'd like to join in too, please. Not sure I can go for 2017 things as we're reasonably on top of stuff - as much as you can be in a house of 6 (aged from 47 -7yo)!! :D:rotfl: But I do like keeping a running total of things which have left the building, so will update with that every so often :)

I'm determined to declutter this year, made a good start on it last year, but there is still so much stuff to go though.

I'm not going to set a target, as I know I'll lose count!

Although today's decluttering might just be the tube of pringles!
  • Made a start today by fully emptying and sorting through the stationery drawer. I had a purge of pens and pencils not too long ago, but the drawer was still fairly busy, and it's a deep too, so plenty of space for things to build up in. It's looking much tidier and accessible now though. I also went through the kitchen utensil and cutlery drawer while dinner was cooking - a few things in there that I've not used for a long time, if at all, so they've gone. A few other bits and pieces here and there also went, which took me up to 35 items gone for the day.
  • 1-10 cosmetic items in the "I might use that some day but never did category
    11. dead tea towel
    12. dead flannel
    13 - 16 - odd socks
    17 - old brush
    18 - spectacle case
    19 - instructional dvd
    20 - dead pants
    21. dead basket

I've also been tossing stuff in a box for the charity shop - will go through that tomorrow.

Not quite the decluttering frenzy I'd envisaged but not a too bad start.

I also did some virtual decluttering of emails emails & made great inroads to my accounts. :A
