I got sick of the mess in my front room today,so tried to make decisions about some of the piles of things I have had a hard time deciding on before.Mostly it is "bits" of stuff: parts of toys missing pieces, pyjamas missing a half, etc.I did end up being ruthless and setting aside alot to take to the tip,but I still need to get rid of alot more
.
Out of the house
Binned:
2354:old library card
2355-2361:7 marking pens
2362-2363:animal puppets on strings.Strings all knotted up and I didn't have the patience.....

Today I emptied out a box of tat that I had hidden out of the way for a couple of years (since late 2015,when we were moving out of our house in preparation for house extension).
It took me 2.5 hours to sort through, and I probably kept far too much (drawings by the kids, etc),but I did get rid of /put away enough that the box was emptied.
Binned:

2396-2397:2 very old library cards

For the last few years I have had a wardrobe sooooo full of clothes and toys that I wanted to sell.I would photograph items, and every now and again I would list them on selling pages.Nothing ever sold ,so after 6 months or so,I would re-list.And meanwhile items would just take up space in my house.
For the last few weeks I have been asking myself what the worst that could happen if I just donated it all.I especially started thinkiing about the clothes.
Yesterday I finally decided that today would be the day I get rid of all this stuff that has been weighing me down for yearssssssssssssssssssss.
So this afternoon I drove all the clothes to charity shop, and tonight it feels so good to have freed up all that space :j:j.
So out of the that cupboard of doom today(all to charity for sick children):

Spent a bit of time sorting out "little messes" around the house.Tonight the house doesn't look any tidier-it is just different messes :rotfl:.
Recycled:
2466:bundle of wrapping paper from my birthday last month
2467:small bundle of papers that had been awaiting attention for a little while
I continue sorting through the cupboard of doom and decided that just about all the toys in there can go tomorrow as well (following the clothes that went yesterday).I will count them when they leave the house
Out of that cupboard and the house, was
2468-2469: a box (empty-had contained a toy),and a few odd papers
Out of the loft:
1025-1043:19 party/party bag bits: banners,balloons,bottles of bubbles,pencils ,bracelets...
I had listed this bundle free to collector, but asked that it be collected as soon as possible.A lovely lady contacted me within about 15 minutes, and collected about an hour after that.Very pleased with that.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Have had a mad day,decluttering-wise.
This morning I took a couple of toys to a charity shop I haven't donated to before. Both toys had many pieces, which I had counted out.I went to the shop, told the lady there that I had counted all the pieces, everything is there, ready to go.
Then tonight,I was looking for something, and found a bag of the majority of pieces of one of the toys :eek:.I was quite upset, because I hate the idea of stuff going to landfill, and I am sure when they check it out to price up,and see that most of the pieces are missing, they will just fling it.After I have spent so long making sure it was all together, then another so long trying to sell it.Seems a waste thst it might go to the landfill.I will race over there tomorrow with the pieces I have,to see if they still have it.I am very cross with myself.Ican't list it here until it is ALL out of the house.:o.
So,countable items out of the house today:
2525:Beanboozled game, donated to a teenage friend of my son.We had played the game many times last christmas, but there was still about 40 bags of jelly beans to play with
2526:lots of envelopes that I had collected a few years ago to re-use for things like notes and permission slips and money going to school.I tore the clear window out of the front, and set aside the envelopes to recycle
2527:lots of officialdom papers/forms that were never filled in
2528-2530:3 IKEA blue bags have left the house with donations over the last couple of weeks
2531:small bundle of brochures of local attractions
2532:magazine from July 2006 :eek::eek::eek::eek:
2533:handful of kipple,binned
Out of the loft,donated:

I've also got rid of lots of envelopes, boxes and bubble wrap from selling bits and pieces but haven't included these as the pile keeps being "topped up".
Really don't think I'll make the 2017 target by the end of the year. I'm too much of a hoarder and find it hard to part with things

When I got rid of the t-shirts my DD hugged me and said "I'm proud of you Mummy" :A She knows how much trouble I have letting things go so this meant a lot to me.
