Well unless you're a vegan yourself, I'd find that even more challenging to live with than dealing with a 12 year age gap. If it ever got serious, could you potentially live with somebody who felt repulsed every time you wanted a cheese sandwich, a bacon buttie or steak and chips ? And who was a potential nightmare to all your friends if you get invited round for a meal because your girlfriend won't eat anything they're used to cooking. Or even worse, living with somebody who wouldn't even cook any of the things you like to eat either ?
I've nothing against people who take certain moral stances on how they want to live their lives but there can be times when their attitudes can become "mildly inconvenient" to put it politely when they insist on living them out in the company of those close to them.
A friend of mine invited a long term friend and his new girlfriend to stay for a bank holday weekend when she knew he was going to be in their area. When the girlfriend arrived she turned out to be a vegan. She hadn't prenotified her food requirement. My friend said by the end of the weekend she was ready to commit suicide through frustration because the girlfriend wouldn't eat anything she wanted to cook and serve. So be prepared for some possible awkward moments with family and friends along the way whenever edible entertainment comes into the equation !0 -

Spaghetti with tomato/vegetable sauce (maybe with beans added, for protein)
vegetable casserole cooked in the slow cooker, served with bread?
Or if all else fails.. Jacket potato :rotfl:
She should have been courteous enough to inform the host in advance, though. If she didn't she might just have to go hungry!0 -
Speaking as a woman who between 16 and 18 was in relationships one 24 year age gap, the other 31 years; all I can advise you is tread carefully. There is a huge chance in the next year or so she will change her opinion of seeing someone so much older. Nearly two decades later, I still struggle with one of those relationships from my past.0

It's legal so there's nothing wrong in that sense, but I think it's unlikely to go anywhere. I'm 29 myself, and all of the teens/early 20s I know are so different to me and my friends. People do a lot of growing up in their 20s. My friend is 24 and even she seems 'young' to me sometimes!
As someone else said, check she is actually 17. My OHs cousin showed me her school prom pictures, most of them could easily pass for 25!0 -
Yes, somebody who is an inventive cook would probably be able to come up with something but to be expected to cook two different menus every day for three without any notice is asking a bit much. People with unusual dietary requirements should develop the courtesy of warning hosts in advance.0

Are you sure? The school leaving age is 18, until then you either have to stay in education, take an apprenticeship/traineeship or work/volunteer part time whilst learning part timeAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Agree with others, I think the age gap could be a problem just because you're at a diff point in your life, not the fact that she's younger and you're older. Im 30 and people that are 17-25 are just completely different from me.. theres a lot of growing up done from late teens to late 20's!
As for veganism - that should be an issue to determine a relationship... I don't eat meat or dairy either but I don't squeal in revulsion when someone offers me a bacon sandwich... just politely say no thanks. Look for places with good veggie and vegan options etc. I think thats a small thing really.0 -
I don't suppose he would necessarily know if the job was an Apprenticeship at this stage.0

fair enough. i don't actually know 100%. she said she worked in her mother's boutique at the moment until she can train to be a yoga teacher.
so i just assumed full time because i didn't know her age, thought she was older than 17. didn't know about that info you provided though. interesting.0
