hi everyone, thought i'd pop back after a pretty long absence, there's a few names I recognise and many more that I don't.
I got debt free 4 years ago but now have a car loan which i'm not too worried about, but we've been spending too much on the cards and I've finally got my OH to understand the implications so I thought I would head back in this direction. We've also got to save for the extension that we've just put planning permission in for.
this week, I need to:
take at least one thing from the freezer each day
spend less than £50 on groceries and be organised so we don't resort to takeaways
Do some matched betting and end the week higher than what I started with
check some surveys and have a look at some of the things you guys are doing to see if I can't steal/borrow some ideas.
check bank accounts and update daily

Afternoon all,
Its been a busy old day but now enjoying catching up with all your news with a :coffee:
This morning we went to the out of town retail park so that I could pop to the Asda living to take back a shirt I'd bought but changed my mind about. Whilst there dh got a new belt for £8 much better price then his last belt which was about £20 fro m&s! Went to £world to get crackers from there as they were 2 for a £1 and they were the branded cheddars instead of going for the lidl version @ 59p
Popped into Mr T for a loaf of bread and checked out the ys fridges and got several joints of meat reduced
Checked banking and updated spreadsheets as DH was paid today. All ok and had £36 left in what we'd budgeted for Xmas so I was pleased.
All meals from stores, Ds1 asked for fajita's for lunch, it suited me as I had some salad to use up and an avocado that needed using. Ds1 cooked it all under supervision, he didn't like handling the raw chicken but really enjoyed the end result! This was followed by a piece of the ys lemon cheesecake we got the other day
Ds1 has gone to sleep at granddads tonight so currently cuddled up on the sofa with ds2 & hubby watching Horrible Histories
Food tonight is some Chinese nibble's from the freezer as part of our use upwill also finish off the last of the salad bits
Washed a couple of loads on 30 degree quick wash and done the radiator shuffle
Froze the stock that i'd made overnight in the slowcooker, will use this next week to make a soup.
Taken down the last of the decorations & tree, all have gone upstairs to the spare room and I will go through everything before it makes it up to the loft on New Years Day. House looks bare now!
Going to find a film on tv to watch with little man.
Still need to check fpl/luckyphone/numberplate
dejunk email accounts
Drink some of the irish cream that's left! Priorities! hehe
That's about it.
Have a nice evening all, nice to see some new faces & Ziggy back
Get well soon to those who need it & Bob I hope your back is ok today.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi guys
been back a while from my "lunch" with old friend. Was soooooo lovely to catch up with her, wish we'd never lost contact as she is sooooo much fun. Was more expensive than I had hoped, as after lunch we moved on to a pub and shared a 2nd bottle of wine
:D lots of belly laughs and promises to have dinner together in Feb (she is doing dry Jan so we decided to wait until they have finished that!)
ziggy lovely to see you back, hope lots of r&r get you back on your feet and remember you are wonderful just as you are, even when low. It's ok to be depressed sometimes. The world is a better place because you are in it in all of your cycles x
Lemon Tree long time! Yay to you being back x
I have the MOST wonderful newstoday we became df (for the 2nd time) :j yesterday I paid oh's dm £500, meaning we had £1k left to pay her. Sent her a msg to say I had transferred the cash to her account. And she sent a msg to say the debt is now cleared
so from the end of next month our financial situation has changed for the better. Still not rolling in it but have an extra £150 pm meaning now if something comes up we will have a buffer to absorb it :money:DF as at 30/12/16

This bit in bold is probably one of the most lovely things I've read and very true. I'm going to write it in my new book0 -

Determined amazed at your shopping spends, wish I could get mine down anywhere near that. I'm doing much better now I'm recording it though
Ziggy if you're reading - hope you're ok
My Friday mainly looks like this:
Going to the theatre with the smalls, tickets already paid for as part of their Christmas present. Will treat them to lunch there as they have a lovely cafe. Will take in snack for theatre with me.
Go to mr s later armed wth shopping list and some vouchers. Double check myc0upons before hand to see if they are up to date
Washing on radiators
Last of presents away
Vacuum round - still not done lounge - keep spying Lego pieces
Porridge for brekkie for everyone, made with semi skimmed milk so I can do half water
Go for a run, will likely go to the gym (but use membership) as it's too cold at moment for me to run outside (I know that sounds like a cop out but I've been here the last two years and run outside when it's frosty and it always gets my chest, not worth the risk)
Looked last night for a race to enter in 2017looking at local and not huge ones as they tend to have much cheaper entrance fees.
Look for cake to make for Sunday, hopefully one with pears to use the last couple I have, ideally something out of use up box too
Right off for brekkie. PF.
Done all of my list. Only managed 2.5k run as forgot my water bottle and they had the heating blaring in the gym  will try again tomorrow
Lovely time at the theatre, wasn't as good as last year but I think that was just the book they chose. Still nice quality family time.
Got several ys bargains at mr s, plus lots if additional pointsplus lots if fresh veggies which always makes me feel better. They were very good prices too in comparison to mr a (can't buy from there just now as they only last about 24 hours before they go off)
Chopped the rest of bunch of coriander and split it into two bags (stalks and leaves) and froze
Some knitting tonight0 -

Hello all
Nice to see Ziggy back with us
Hope that Katy Ann, Foxgloves and Bob (and any other poorlies) are better soon.
I am in the middle of a bizarre exchange with a ditzy ebay buyer who swears she has bought and paid for an item and it is still showing as active on the system and there is no record of a payment. Turns out she in fact bought a completely different item from another seller, and has been corresponding with the wrong person :rotfl: Just waiting to hear if she wants my item or not - it would be good as I have spent at least an hour trying to sort it out with her (and the item is only 4 quid :rotfl::rotfl:) or perhaps better if not
Anyway, apart from that:
Walked dog
Used up lots of little plates and pots of leftovers for lunch
Today's parcels to post office
Restocked sales unit with clearance items. Now got a car full of stuff to put away, but that can wait till tomorrow!
Small shop in Mr S, mainly fresh veg as we were running short
Picked up some free wine boxes for ebay packaging while I was there. Also raided the paper recycling bin for newspapers to use for padding
Ham, egg and chips for dinner
Still got to slice up rest of ham, use some to make a quiche using a shell I made the other day, and freeze the rest!0 -
