    Good Morning all,

I hope you are all well. Sounds like the Christmas preparation is going well for everyone. I still need a new tree, will hopefully pick one up this weekend. I only saved special Christmas decorations last year so I need to purchase some new baubles etc too. Will have a look hopefully when I buy the tree. I have bought DD a Nintendo DS which has a game on it and I also bought her a game to go with it. That is her main gift, she did want the nintendo switch, which I explained would be her only gift if that is what she wanted. She soon changed her mind, she wanted the DS originally as it is what her cousins have and is an updated version of the one she has already got that has seen better days.
Hoping to get some wrapping done, missed the party again on saturday. DH took us all to manchester Christmas markets which we loved! we did not get back until late and then DH and I snuggled on couch and watched a film.
    Hope everybody is ok.
Murie please empty your message box as I cannot message you as it is full lol xx

    Morning all.

Day off and today mission first and foremost is find besties gift. Blinking hope it is in amongst the rest of the gifts as no idea what I will do if I can't find it. Breathe Becks sure it will be there. Touch wood :rotfl: can't help but think other half has picked it up with his bits and pieces but he is adamant he hasn't.

Need to check I have enough Sellotape too for when I wrap :D

Have now got the ideas for besties two kids...the items are sitting in my Amazon basket now waiting for pay day and I have one parcel to collect from Debenhams this week too . Finally feel like I am almost sorted for gifts...just need to organise and wrap them.

Hope everyone is ok. Hugs to those who need them (and those who just want a hug)

    Hi everyone,
I made some progress at the weekend in my local High Street. Got £20 ASOS giftcard for nephew (17) plus a small Dove Men shower gel/deodorant tin from Boots. This will go with a Galaxy selection box (half price at T's). Niece (13) got a £20 Next giftcard, small Sanctuary shower gel/lip balm set and HP Maltesers selection box. Nephew (10) got a Minecraft album, light up blocks (like lego but light up, quite funky and got on 3for2 at Boots). Need to get him a selection box too.
Got Mum a nudiknits calendar (if you haven't seen it, it's quite rude!) to go with her slippers. Might look out for some pjs or nightie as well. Another really difficult person to buy for!!
Got DD a vinyl Killers album in HMV and a sloth calendar. She would like some posh make up, so might have to go online as no luck in Boots store.
DS1 (18) would like some nice EdT - not celebrity endorsed one as apparently that's naff lol! DS2 (13) has specified a PS4 game. Feels like I'm making slow progress but at least some people are ticked off the list.
Oh and in other news, DH and I purchased wallpaper, curtains and paint for the lounge on Sunday in the L/Ashley 30% off sale. Plan is to decorate the lounge prior to Christmas - yes I do mean this Christmas! We are starting tonight by clearing all but essentials (ie. TV and large sofa) to other rooms. Might even start the glossing tonight. Yes we are bonkers.

Yes found the present - but nowhere near the Christmas prezzie cupboard :rotfl: but still it has appeared and I am relieved.

Been a productive day even though I have been home all day. Most of the bits I have are now wrapped. I have also separated bits from the big Boots gift set off into the little baskets - other half can help me with the cellophane bit of those when he gets home.

Parcel delivery was scheduled for between 4-6 good job I was in anyway as she arrived about half eleven. Had email from Debenhams to say parcel ready to collect so that is a job for Thursday evening.

I even watched a Christmas film whilst wrapping.

Good Evening everyone, been missing in action as DD came down with one of the nastiest viruses I have ever witnessed, so bad she was that we had to do a mad dash to out of hours as they thought she might have scarlett fever (she didn't!). Totally wiped her out for a week, no xbox, wouldn't eat and didn't leave the sofa during the day for 5 days, all very strange for her, she will eat even if she's got a sickness bug so that really told me she was poorly. Finally back to her old self though so all is good, though DH and I are both now feeling under the weather and hoping she hasn't passed it on to us.

Congrats Mrs I! How lovely to get baby cuddles :D please post a picture of your santa suit when you complete it, I would love to see it!

Our tree is a bit of a mish mash, we have red and gold baubles but then the other 90% are either handmade ones I have bought, special ones people have bought me or ones the kids made when they were at nursery (much to DS's horror as he is 16 so its not cool to have a pinecone you painted when you were 18 months old). Our lights are multicoloured too with 7 different settings :rotfl:

I too remember the foil ceiling decs! I was actually talking to DH about them last week and how my dad always moaned every year about pin holes in his ceiling and we were devaluing his house :rotfl: not once in my many years of life have I ever witnessed anyone prospective buyer look at the ceiling and go 'not buying this place! look at them pin holes!'

I hope your feeling better Nic, grief has no rules but I hope your chat made you feel better :)

Did I say I finished my friends secret santa gift? if I didn't i've finished :D I'm a bit worried she wont like it as its quite bright in colour but the pattern was designed for very bright colours so that's what ive gone for, not sure whether to make something else as well just incase :/

I think I might be pretty much finished with my shopping! All I can think I need to get is hotel chocolat chocolates for MIL, and my dad's camera (that I still can't make my mind up about!) everything else is bought . . I think . . .

Keep thinking about wrapping and going 'nah, still loads of time till christmas' and have just realised its 9 days till the end of the month  my tree will be up within 2 weeks and now i'm all panicky and feeling like i'm running out of time!

  • Morning all

Well surpirsed hubby with his jacket yesterday at the NEC and his face lit up - Im not sure he expected to get it - although 2.5 hours in the car there we discussed xmas and had a good long chat - so think we are sorted now on the Xmas front after putting it to rights yesterday. Still hoping to go to Hereford in December but will have to see how Hubbys overtime fares between now and then.

Sister has decided she wants perfume so will get that on payday at B&M since they have some nice bigger brands cheaper.

Need some ideas on sailing gifts? My dad has just brought a small boat  so I was thinking something around that. Maybe I might do a go outdoors voucher for him.

Have a few ornaments to wrap but cant send them till next week. Im getting so ahead of myself now in that prep but havent done one piece of wrapping so far other than the other exchange Ive done. Really must by more wrapping and cellotape.

Hope everyone who was poorly is feeling better.

Jakes - mum thats how I know my boy is ill too if hes off his food and xbox
    Mrs I - congrats
stockie - I lose presents all the time too - glad you found it. loving the baskets
Murie - glad DDS graduation went well.
046 - the christmas market sounds fab. Im trying to convince my husband to go to Bath market but hes having none of it. Hes firmly stuck in Hereford

Right off to put a bacon roll on for Ben to try and entice him out the door for school before I have to get Holly ready and then go for blood tests and work.

Also we decided our elf this year will be called Elvis :-)
    Time to find me again
  • Hey all,

Does anyone else share this same feeling...?

The last few years (since I became an MSE) I gave myself a budget for Xmas and planned it months in advance. But as the date get closer, I feel I've not got enough. Which then tends to mean impulse buys and going over budget!

It's perhaps still a hangover from my gift giving technique of old, where I'd go overboard, or it's maybe because it's my favourite time of the year and I love giving thoughtful gifts to those who I love. Either way, it's something which has cropped up since I've tried to be clever with Christmas.

    Tell me I'm not alone?
