  • Oh Free it's good that Thumper is being assessed, as a few here know I suspected autism with my son but because he was home educated the camhs here refused to officially diagnose even though the doctors referred to his autism all the time. Roll on the years and he could finally get an adult assessment where the psychologist said he was a clear cut case and diagnosed. He would of had so much help if diagnosed at Thumpers age and I'm certain Thumper will thrive with the correct input.
I think the only surprising thing was my DS's psychologist suggested I had adult testing and was diagnosed as autistic at the grand old age of 52!
My only advice is make certain everything is written in black and white, even off the record comments from staff/doctors. It's a long journey with hard work but so rewarding when they put a smile on your face. x
  • Peppa hope you have a relaxing weekend xx
  • Free As you rightly said it is getting the professionals to see what the parents/family members see. Once the diagnosis has been made then hopefully the specialist help that is available for children with Autism should be easier to access.

I have a physical disability plus a hearing impairment so have some experience of the benefits that specialist intervention can make to your life...... :)
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

    Update,
Daughter received an email this afternoon cancelling the order due to mispricing. Instead of taking £7.00 off the price they took £202.00 off. Never mind.

I am sorry that it was a false bargain and I wasted peoples time. xx

Freespirit - I think early diagnosis really helps so its great that they have agreed to test him as until you get that official diagnosis its really hard to get any support most of they time they want proof you qualify. Its such a wide spectrum disorder that it can be really hard to even get things started esp if they are at the higher functioning end so good on dd for sticking to her guns as you get so used to people telling you there is nothing wrong you start to question yourself. Taz was finally referred for assessment by his teacher who having trained specifically to work with children with additional needs saw what I do and thinks he does have some form of asd. Its taken over a year so far and I'm still waiting on a decision from the school senco as to whether or not he'll get officially tested.

I don't like the JL xmas ad this year is not xmassy and the whole monster under the bed thing freaked taz out :(
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk

Free, well done DD for persevering. As everyone has said, the earlier the better for a diagnosis for little Thumper which is the key to accessing funding.

Not sure what to make of the Lewis ad, it's lovely very music but I just don't get what it's trying to say.
Ordered some new fairy lights for inside and am very tempted by a laser display for outside does anyone have one and care to share a recommendation or opinion

Need to get a bit more wrapping and card writing done.

Hugs to all who need them and hope everyone has a good weekend

Been a hectic week here at work - so the Argos advert looks exactly like my shifts this last week!:eek::eek::eek: we had a fast track collection yesterday of 26 items - all toys - so christmas is well and truly on the way.

Im not being biased at all but I think the Argos advert is much more Christmassy than the John Lewis one this year.

Did join in the wrapping I'm afraid because little people are about and nosey......I am going to start using my days off in December to get a few bits wrapped.

I won a bluetooth shower speaker the other day so am going to give that to my son for Xmas so he can stick it around his bedroom (it has one of those big sucker things on the back) and listen to his music so now can re gift a smaller less expensive one I brought earlier in the year to my niece.

Starting to write Xmas cards now to send to the states.....only have a few for one forum but looks like Im the only UK member! Doh!

Hope everyone is happy and well and I will catch up when I can. Nice day off today so husband is treating us all to breakfast later and then its time for Rugby :j:j:j:j
    Time to find me again

Nice win Sammy K,we are a Rugby household.DS is a massive Wales fan as his Dad is Welsh.

Mrs M,we have several laser projectors and they are brilliant. They were from China and about £20 each. Electrical gubbins is part of Mr V's job and he was most impressed for the price. They were from ebay btw.
