Peppa- our posts went up at the same time. I am loving my new carpet but we did not have time to decorate first so that will be a tad bit stressful lol. We need to get our bedroom and the living room some new carpet. Just got prices for our bathroom and kitchen to have new cushioned lino. I would like it done before Christmas but will see if the funds stretch lol.

Welcome Catty c,I second what Peppa said about the white paper decorations.I have some that I hang in my kitchen window,I think they look great.Shame you have no pound type shops, there's a business opportunity for you there!

New carpet is lovely,I am still enjoying my bedroom carpet even after almost a year. You will not want to move 0462.The good thing is you are adding value to your house and you can do it all again somewhere new.

GYD no need to feel guilty about a well deserved treat for yourself.I think the stress of moving is the waiting not the actual move.Once I have decided to go,I just want to get on with it.

I cannot watch QVC.I would want everything and actually have more than enough decorations to kit out the Street.

Bought myself a necklace last night. It was supposed to be for DD1's birthday but seems to be for me now.See I am too easily influenced.I look at all your links and think Oh,I need that too!

Verdict from the garage about the Mini is that the brake cables were so corroded that they snapped. It only had an MOT about 6 weeks ago,I would have thought that would have been something that should have been picked up.Repair is £800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least we know that it will be a safe car then !

Today I am painting a wall in my kitchen.I opened a bottle of tomato sauce and it exploded. It was all over me,the wall, tiles, microwave, kettle, window. You get the idea.Tomorrow the craft coven ladies are coming so I need to bake for that too.

Another way you have influenced me is that I am now addicted to the cinnamon lattes.Am on my second box and I only got them on Saturday.

    Vx

Off to Blackpool later...plan is to walk the full length of the illuminations all five and a half miles of them like we did last year! Excited!

Have a great couple of days everyone with lots of festive preparations.

  • Morning, looks like it's Christmas on QVC.

Confession time, I was in such a bad mood with solicitors, estate agents etc that I might of just ordered myself the Libertys advent calendar and NOTHING is going to make me feel guilty *goes and looks in bin for stale bread for toasting*
Tbh I dipped into my competition winnings pot, so technically free?

Wow, I googled the calendar and it looks incredible!

Hoping I can join!! I'm fairly new to MSE but absolutely love Christmas so thought this was the perfect thread for me to join!

I am SO behind on my Christmas shopping, I have ideas but no time to buy them! Still have to make my OH's advent calendar and its almost November

It's only myself and DS (20 with a range of medical problems) at home, so I'm guessing when I fill his up I'll add some iTunes and gaming vouchers to feel less guilty. He has got the wooden fortnums one, bought it a few years back and fills it each year
  • Hello all

I'm new to this forum but have been lurking for a while and enjoying all your Christmas chatter. I love this time of year and am usually out and about enjoying the build up and gradually picking up my Christmas shopping...bargains naturally!

Unfortunately I broke my ankle 8 weeks ago and have been confined to base ever since going stir crazy! The upside has been discovering your lovely Christmas forum which has helped with my withdrawal symptoms and allowed me to become excited about Christmas without getting out into the real world very often.

Anyway I did get out this morning and saw the Nescafe gingerbread lattes that some of you have been searching for. They were in my local Iceland and were £2.50 a box. Not really a bargain but I hope it helps someone.

Afternoon everyone. Hello to the newbies!

Went to a big craft fair on sunday at the football stadium in Bolton. The sides of the stadium acted like a wind tunnel (all storm Brian's fault). So we got propelled along quite violently. :rotfl: Bought a lovely Bombay Duck mug for my sister in law for Xmas. It's duck egg blue with a butterfly inside (both things she really loves) with goldish guilded spots. It's this one but I got it for only a tenner!: https://www.bombayduck.com/miss-darcy-butterfly-mugs.html
Also got my mum a couple of £1 Xmas brooches for her advent calendar - very dinky and cute. All in all, a really good craft fair. :T Popped into the retail park next to the stadium for lunch and a bit of shopping too. May have bought myself a couple more houses for my Christmas village (more like small town :rotfl:) in a poundshop...

Went shopping this morning/afternoon too. Got Mum 4 more things for her advent calendar. Just 6 more to go! And some wrapping paper, a big gift bag and some number labels. And I need to wrap them...

Also got myself a big Thornton's Snowman advent calendar (with my name piped on it. I am an adult I swear!). Was looking for a jewellery one but haven't seen any nice ones. May be tempted to get another one if a jewellery one finally takes my fancy. ;)

Hope everyone is doing well. Clocks go back this weekend - Winter is coming! (Insert GOT theme here) :D
