Vulpix- glad your DS is OK, shame about your mini, still its only a hunk of metal and it could have been so much worse. (That's what I kept telling DD when she wrote hers off last year).
Free- thats typical isn't it? Its horrible when you get all fired up full of good intentions and with a list and yet you go home empty handed. Good on you for going for the flu jab and b*m that you couldn't have it.
Coxy- your mom sounds like mine with a cheeky sense of humour that sometimes you could do without! Glad the tooth isn't too bad or painful x

Free/Nic I looked in £land but not a single sachet to be seen Im afraid x
Mrs I- good to 'see' you! RL can be a pain in the b*m at times getting in the way of 'important' stuff !
I cant abide white chocolate so haven't been on the look out for it in any guise Im afraid. (Just the though of it makes me really queasy).
    lovin' this site!

Free I sent you a PM did you see it?

Nic I am off this week so post will be sorted at some point

Not very MSE but going to the Lindt shop tomorrow as we want chocolates to fill our advent calendar :D

Three presents arrived today and my storage space is looking abit full now - not much more to get thankfully as like to be done by end of November at latest, December rarely allows for much free time

We have sorted out old baubles out tonight ready for other half to take into the school he works in for the Christmas Fayre. They are still in good condition and will do someone just with changing colour scheme we have no space to keep two lots.

  • I've finally managed to get a few gifts over this past week. I brought my mum some festive body butter from the Body Shop, as I know she really likes the body butters there, then on Saturday I finally managed to find THE T Shirt that my Husband had been after but had been sold out in lots of stores, and I also snuck in a novelty book called Where's Wookie? (He's a big fan of Star Wars!) Yesterday, after the food shop, I trotted to a large local garden centre with my parents, and it was absolutely heaving, but I managed to get a couple of personalised Christmas books for the children of one of our friends. I'm thinking of pairing them with something sweet, and, as the stories are based on Christmas Eve, labelling the books to be opened on Christmas Eve, and the treats to be opened on Christmas Day.

Coxy, yikes! Follow that up.Not what you expect from a nice homemade cake.

I can't remember the time for the wrapping but 8pm sounds good to me.

GYD Hows tricks? Have you moved yet?

I have had about an hours sleep. Phone call from DS at 12:45 to say he had crashed my car. Mr V went to collect him as the mini wasn't driveable. DS was fine only because 1. He was doing 40 in a 50 limit and 2.He had not been drinking. The brakes failed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily no damage to him or more importantly the paintwork.Car left in situ in the wilds as it was filthy weather to try and sort the bashed up wheel.Visit from Police at 3am,Mr V to work at 5am.Given up on sleep now and am toying with the idea of cleaning the kitchen.Musn't be too hasty, perhaps just put some washing on.

    Kids!

How are things now with DS? I know myself the horror of early morning phone calls. All I can say is thank goodness the brakes failed at night and not during the day in a busy area. x

As for your question, no, not moved yet. Had about 3 dates so far and it's really getting me down. There is some elusive paperwork missing, long story short previous owners gave some of the land to the local Parish as a footpath, my solicitor wants the papers, it was in the 50s !

So I've put my thoughts to Christmas not knowing where we will be. Picked up the B00ts offer for DS at the weekend and some Christmas Percy Pigs. Nowhere near here seems to have the scratch cards for his advent yet. I had to leave him with my mum whilst shopping because of his needs but when we got home he gave me three Christmas magazines that he had got his older brother to pick up "to cheer me up over the move", so I'm going to sit and look through them today.

Older DS is back on track now since his problems last year, got promotion and looking forward to life. x
  • Morning all,

I picked up a few bits and bobs on Saturday.

I'm desperate to get organised for work's secret santa but they've not made the draw. I'm the only person eager to get it made. Which is unusual for a man so i get some strange looks.

Does anyone know if the White Company participate in Black Friday or do a sale before Xmas? Can't seem to find anything on the net.

GYD that's great news about older DS and a lovely surprise getting the Christmas mags too. Pain about the move but hopefully the paperwork will surface soon. We actually ended up going ahead without a bit of ours although it didn't relate to land or anything that we couldn't sort out if problems arise in the future. Still got fingers crossed for you (not literally of course but you know what I mean).

VULPIX that must have been awful, so glad he's ok.

COXY what a pain to gave the order cancelled. I hate it when that happens and don't understand why these companies can't get their systems sorted

FREE what a nuisance after you'd got all psyched up ready for the jab. I booked ours for the first day our surgery did them so I could get it over with. Couldn't have one last year as couldn't get it fitted in with the right bit of chemo so thought I'd better not chance missing it two years running. I get it free because of DH's health probs.

Had a lovely weekend with family in Wales and came home with gifted fish tank and accessories so going to get that all set up this week and treat myself to some small tropical fish once it's settled in a few weeks. I think I'm actually more excited about 'decorating' the tank.

I think I've decided on a silver family tree necklace for my mum's birthday next month with the great grandchildren's names engraved on it. Just can't decide on the right one (at the right price). I'm getting her photo coasters for Christmas so hopefully that's one difficult-to-buy-for person sorted.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Family Tree necklace, what a lovely idea.

Great to hear everyone is on track. I often wonder about people like us.I used to think we/I just needed to be well organised. But when we were in The Range the other day I just loved all the sparkle and lights and colours.

GYD I had a similar problem which the solicitor told me about and wasn't bothered about when I bought the house, but years later when I sold it it was a big problem! That was over a piece of land that had been purchased from the council in the 1930's to make my garden bigger. It took ages and in the end I had to take out an insurance policy in case it became a problem in the future.Think it was about £25.Oh I had to buy the land from the council for £1 too.
I am so pleased to hear that your eldest son is doing so well and that life is looking good for him.

My DS is still very cross with himself as he needs a car for his new job! But better it happened when it did on an empty road than him driving into a bus stop of people or causing a pile up on the motorway. Mr V saw the car last night when he took the key over to the garage. He says it will be a lot of money to fix, perhaps more than my poor old car is worth. These things are sent to try us!

DD2 going to her family for a few days,so I can crack on with sneaky Christmas things without her knowing! Her record player is lovely.Baby Blue.

Can't remember who was at work and buying jewellery last week, but I have never been on that site before and am tempted.Keep going back to one necklace in particular.DD1's birthday in February.

Thanks for the reminder for flu jab Free.Hope you get sorted soon.xx

Better get up,slept for 13 hours last night.

I haven't tried it but might this year, to put in hot choc.

I have question - we are hosting this year, for the first time, so I want to keep it simple. So I'm thinking that we should get one of those turkeys where the bones have been taken out and the meat is rolled up. I was thinking, easier carving, no carcass to fit in the food bin etc. But, I don't know what it's called so can't google how to cook one and my Christmas books all say how to cook a regular turkey. Does anyone know what this is called?

Also, what do you all do, turkey wise?
