OK! I relented and bought some salted caramel match makers! you lot are a very bad influence on me! I was quite happy with the mint ones (we do NOT like the orange ones) but you all kept saying they were the bees knees so into my christmas cupboard they have gone :o

Been on to my knitting/crochet fb page and the lovely ladies on there have given me lots of ideas for knitting extras for the MIL so I now have a row counter coming and am about to buy some multi sized darning needles and raid my stash for buttons, ribbon and embellishments :)

Mum's cardi is no further forward than 4 days ago :o I seem to have lost my mojo a little!

I'll have to try and remember what my password is for MSE and log you all into my ipad so I can join in the wrapping party! do we have a time it starts or is it just 'in the day' or 'after tea'? I'm sure someone mentioned it before but I have a memory like a sieve :o

DS's power bank thingy turned up today  I only ordered it yesterday! its quite a hefty bit of kit, thats going to slow him down!

Coxy11 - hope you enjoyed the craft fair! I must look some up round here so I can take DD, she likes to pick her gran and grandads presents from craft fairs (and visit father christmas) so need to see if there are any I can get too.

ventured a bit further afield today and found a few xmas goodies

The card factory had christmas chests in £4.99 small £6.99 large picked up the large one and the sales assistant said they only came in yesterday and they've almost sold out already. Also got some mickey mouse & friends xmas wrap for dgd pressies and emoji xmas cards for taz as they have poo emoji ones in the pack.

Tesco have own brand choc reindeers 50p and the large individual chocolate coins £1 each or 2 for £1 so that's a few more bits ticked off.
They were also doing 20% off if you buy 3 selected baking ingredients which might be worth looking at if you need to stock up for xmas baking.

Primark do really lovely soft fleeces for £6 they usually do various disney ones that sell out quite quickly but the one I went to today had 2 harry potter themed ones didn't get a proper look as saw them on the way out but one was black with what looked like the harry potter scar shape all over and the other had some sort of red/blue & white print

Managed to find the cocktail baubles in morrisons picked up a couple of sets they were on 2 for £8 not sure if that's the usual price. They also had terry's oranges for £1 including the dark chocolate ones so again another thing ticked off my list

I've been invited out for a meal with some friends tonight so better go and get ready hopefully I'll find something passable that fits in the wardrobe :o

Am I the only one who think Matchmakers taste like toothpaste? :undecided

Just having a quick browse online while watching some tv, trying to get some ideas. Found a nice looking gardening hamper for mum, but it's £28.50! It has hand wash, hand lotion, gloves (which mum has more than enough of) exfoliating soap, nail brush and beeswax lip balm. I'm sure I can gather all that for less. So I think I'll make her a nice hamper.
There is a nice smaller hamper for £10, but it has bath soak, and she doesn't have a bath.

That leaves my best friend, my dad & my bf

  • I'm not a massive fan of salted caramel myself, but DH likes it so I might get a box of the Matchmakers for him.

I haven't bought much this month as it's been an expensive month already (paid tree surgeons to cut back a big tree in our garden. It really needed it but it cost a lot), so instead I've started to cost up some gifts for the family. Well under budget for both sisters so will need to spend a bit more time finding things for them (might just raid an art shop at some point). Still no idea for Dad so I need to walk around Waterstones at some point and look for inspiration.

Next month will hopefully be a bit less expensive so I can buy some stuff of Amazon. At the moment I'm taking my Christmas money out in cash, which is great for buying something in shops when I see it, but less great when I want to do a big online buy.

    Evening all,

Have ordered a couple more presents over the last few days. Couple of tops for mums boyfriend and my dad and a couple of books so slowly getting there with men folk.

Got a week off after tomorrow's shift so hopefully whilst I am off can finalise most bits.

With the salted caramel matchmakers I can honestly say they didn't touch the sides so didn't seem overly salted caramely.:o

I am not buying anymore, the orange and mint will have to do.

Went to Poundland today, they had a big display of gingerbread latte sachets.Got a couple so if you get desperate I can post them off.

GH have said that Lidl leibkuchen is one of the best so picked some up.

I got a nice glass jar from The range and a gingerbread man cutter from HB for 50p.I will do the layered gingerbread man ingredients for DD2 as a stocking filler. Her record player has come and I think she is about done now.She has less to open this year but what she has is much more expensive than when she was younger and happy with lots of cheap things.

Next time I go shopping I will be on the lookout for something for Mr V, MIL and my Mum.

I also spent ages in Hobbycraft, they have some lovely things in at very reasonable prices I thought.I just got felt as I am going to make some little witches and some angels with some wooden bodies that I bought ages ago. I have put up my Halloween decorations.Just a few in the window.A black cat and some honeycomb paper pumpkins.

    Vx

Well the craft Fayre was a tad disappointing. It was in Sevenoaks and obviously aimed at those with money! They had a fossil stall with an actual fossilised dinosaur for £900 I kid you not! DH really wanted it hahahahaha.
Ended up buying some curry spice mix for £4 but other than that nothing that I could afford took my fancy. Some nice jewellery, but just soooo expensive.
The day didn't start well as DH and I rowed on the way there so I was quite tearful (long story) and then we had tea and cake and my slice of bakewell had a ceramic baking bead left in it which I bit down on and chipped my tooth! The lady offered me the £3 back - no thanks love but I'll send you my dentists bill!

Just a question for those who have been to poundland, have any of you seen the white chocolate toblerones yet? my three absolutely love them (dispite all three of them not really liking nuts) and it is a staple on every christmas list for the past 4 years but I have yet to see them in there (really dont want to pay supermarket prices  ) so if anyone spots them could they let me know?

I really need to start thinking about christmas food lists. I am still unsure if the parents are coming or not (which makes a huge difference to my list as they eat all the christmas pudding, christmas cake type stuff and we don't). Is it just me or are the weeks whizzing by

EDIT: OMG Coxy! your poor tooth! such a shame about your fair as well :(

Jake's Mum I haven"t looked but know our local one had packs of the mini white ones near the tills the other day but don't know about the large ones.

Coxy sorry the fayre was disappointing and even worse for your poor tooth! Hope it isn't causing you too much pain.

Vulpix I really need a trip to Hobbycraft and hoping their box frames are still half price as I underestimated my needs on my last visit and have made family trees and I am one frame short. Also need card for the backing and only a certain colour will do and know I got the last lot I bought from Hobbycraft so need it to match.

JAKESMUM I'm the same as your lot, hate all nuts (especially almond) but love Toblerone, white or otherwise :D I think we said 8 o'clock for the wrapping party but I'm sure VULPIX or 0462 can confirm.

COXY that's awful. Was the cake from a business or a stall at the craft Fayre? If it's a business then def follow up with a letter and photograph of tooth and ask for payment of the bill. If it was at the craft fayre not sure who you'd need to go to, the organisers or the person running the stall. Good luck either way, that's a horrible thing to happen especially when you were already feeling vulnerable.

I tried our Poundland for the Gingerbread latte and also the one here in Port Talbot but no luck so well done VULPIX and whoever else it was that found them (won't let me go far enough back to check without losing my post). I was so dedicated I checked B&M too lol.

Raphael, think it might be just you lol but I suppose anything mint could taste a bit toothpaste-ish.

We've had a nice time in Wales even it has meant fighting against Brian to stay upright! I'm coming home with a gifted fish tank and some accessories so looks like I'll be having some tropical fish again. Won't be too many though, it's not a huge tank. I'm going to have fun choosing stuff to go in it though.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
