Welcome back PATENTGIRL, nice to see you again.
FREE glad you're feeling better. We're all on the Gingerbread latte case for you and Nic, if it's out there we'll find it!
Had a lovely afternoon and evening with the little ones yesterday as DD had two consecutive nights, I do love seeing them play together. We're off tomorrow for our weekend in Wales (visiting family) so today will be prep for that but I'm hoping to have some time to get on with my Christmas market stalls or they won't be ready for December. Oh and I want to list a few bits I want to sell and I've decided I'm going to finally use my Cath Kidston Christmas planner so I'll transfer stuff from my app onto it. I need to use it or sell it and I don't think I can part with it so I'm going to bite the bullet and defile the lovely clean pages. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Are poundland selling wrapping paper and the likes? Was hoping to pick up some bits this weekend and I assume that the most MSE place to go?
Also, I want to buy some xmas cards for my new neighbours. I assume I'll be able to buy a small pack from there too?
I've been looking in the SM's and they only have a small selection of Xmas cards in. I suppose I'm just getting ahead of myself.
Oh, lastly, not sure how many here use YNAB (can say it single handedly changed my life) but they also have a weekly 4 or 5 minute podcast from the owner. Anyway, this weeks was about Xmas and how to manage a budget and not to feel guilty about not spending a fortune and regretting in January. Made feel a whole lot better about Christmas actually.0 -
Forgive me Christmas People for I have sinned.
Last Saturday I bought 2 packs of salted caramel matchmakers to put away for Christmas...you know the rest:o
Chatsworth was great, very ,very busy. The exhibition consists mainly of the families clothes from way back to now.Money no object. Not a Primarni to be seen!Does reinforce what I say to my girls, buy the best you can afford and look after it.I and the girls still use some of my jewellery and bags from the 70's.Fashions come round and round.Did i tell you about the worrying fashion I saw when I went to Liverpool recently?Bustles.I kid you not,I saw several very fashionable girls with skirts with a mini bustle thing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I of course am all natural in the bustle department and wont need to artificially enhance my backside!:rotfl:

specky poundland do have xmas wrap & cards in
another good place to look is the card factory if you have one local they usually do 2/3 smaller rolls of wrap for £1 handy if you want different designs and packs of macmillan charity cards for 59p/2 for £1 lots of different designs to suit most tastes I think its 6 in a pack? I get them every year for my neighbours.
Peppa enjoy wales
Freespirit glad your feeling better
Found an old gift card for argos so that will almost cover the cost of one of the games ds has asked for as its on offer
Boots have the bonus points offer on in my local today(selected large stores or online)this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -

Glad you enjoyed chatsworth sounds fab. I'm all natural in the bustle department too so def not a look I'll be following but no doubt it will be very popular with the younger generation.this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
Oh I shall keep an eye out for gingerbread lattes for those that are chasing them, as a non coffee drinker I have never really looked in the coffee section
DH sorts his own out!
Speky, I quite like the Card Factory for cheap wrapping paper and christmas cards, I still have the box of 40 cards I bought 3 years ago in the january sales for (I think it was) 25p, I send very few
I have no idea what YNAB is
Ahh LMG I am glad HP is back in vogue, DD is currently watching all the films and has just finished number 4, we have had many convo's about it:
DD: 'Mum, that number four film is scary!, They get transported to a graveyard! and that boy . . '
Me: 'Diggory?'
DD: 'Yeah thats him! he died! and he wanted Harry to take him back! and that man with the funny eye . . '
Me: 'Mad Eye Moody?'
DD: 'Yeah! him! Well he wasn't a real person!'
Me: 'umm are you sure? i'm retty sure he was a real person just not Mad Eye, he was someone else'
DD: 'Yeah thats right he was! You should really watch that film!'
Didn't occur to her that the reason I knew all the names 'might' have been because i've seen all the films and read all the books numerous times :rotfl: I didn't correct her as I don't want to dampen her Potter love :rotfl:
Talking of Potter! I started her gryffindor scarf last night and promptly ran out of yellow yarn after 2 stripes  and have I got any more in my copious stash?? have I eck as like!
Vulpix, I have to say, some of the fashion ideas leave me flummoxed, thankfully neither of my children have any desire to enhance their backside :rotfl:
Am a tad miffed, ordered DD her pikachu phone cover an they've sent a completely different cover! it wasn't even one that they were advertising! OK I took a chance ordering from china but I still sent them a rather abrupt email demanding a returns label and a full refund and will now re-order one from the UK.
I have also been thinking about my MIL's christmas gift, now we both share a love of yarn, she's a knitter (but can crochet) I am a crocheter (but can knit :rotfl: ) I was thinking about making her a fabric basket and maybe filling it with some nice yarns. She tends to buy her yarn at the same store near her and (whispers quietly) i've been in there and its not the nicest yarn. She was quite impressed with my collection of caron cakes (these are large colour changing yarns to those who don't know) and I was musing over getting some nice womens institute cotton yarn and putting it round one of my caron cakes with some new knitting needles but i'm worried i'll upset her buying her a 'gift to give away' so to speak
Any knitters in here? would you be thrilled or a bit 'meh' about it? As a crocheter i'd marry anyone who bought me yarn but I might just be that weirdo in the crowd :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £25/£10000 -
Jakes mum I can neither knit or crochet (well haven't since I was teen)so can't comment personally but my late nan was an avid knitter and always asked for knitting materials for birthdays/xmas as she gained great pleasure in knitting for others and it saved her loads of money
forgot to mention the other day but asda have a mulled fresh fruit juice you can drink it cold or heat if you wish. My taste buds aren't the best and I can't say I noticed a lot of spice(only tried it cold so far) the cherry def carries through but its really quite nice and might be worth considering if you have non drinkers or kids to cater for over the festive period. £1.39 or any 3 for £3this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
Afternoon everyone,
PATENTGIRL hello and welcome back
PEPPAPIG have a lovely weekend in Wales with your family, aww it will be lovely using your CK Christmas planner
SPEKYSQUAREHEAD they had some cheap boxes of cards in The Card Factory that looked really nice
VULPIX haha that made me giggle about the Matchmakers I really fancy some now, must try the Salted Caramel flavour, I wish they would bring back the coffee ones. Bustle??? I haven't seen or heard of that yet? My rather large bottom was enhanced years ago naturally
MANDCO ooh well done on finding a gift card to pay for your DS present, bargain!!
JAKESMUM oh typical about the yellow woolI am too much of a wuss to order anything from China I hope you get your refund. I am not a knitter or a crocheter but I think that is a lovely idea to give to your MIL I cant see why she would be upset receiving some lovely different wool to knit with
