Snorkypants - this is what we have each year. Its a boned and rolled turkey. We used to get ours from the local butcher and I would pick it up on Christmas Eve early morning and pay cash. The last time I did this (about 5 years ago) it came to £61 for a 8-10lb turkey. Luckily I had just enough cash on me, but I vowed not to go there again. Waitrose do one which we've had before, but it's smaller. About £45?? It's an indulgence compared to a regular turkey but it does take up less fridge space and is easier to carve.

It's my first year hosting Christmas ever  and I'm more than a little nervous. Also, I'm abroad and sadly no pound shops etc here. I also have no xmas decorations and currently no budget to buy them so am trying to hand-make as many as possible and also hand-make a lot of presents from things I already have lying around the house... without it all looking rubbish! I've already made a couple of snowflake decorations out of old toilet rolls: just need to paint them and add glitter! :rotfl:
Presents-wise, I'm making some seashell candles (free shells from beach, not endangered species or anything!), tea cup candles and lipbalm - all from 'ingredients' I already have. As well as some handpainted bookmarks and travel card holders. Fancy trying to make some folded book art too. Do you think that sounds ok? Or would they be really rubbish presents to receive? :o
  • Had a really busy weekend, was glad to get back to work today for a rest, except I didn't realise that I had not set the alarm. Got a txt message which woke me, thank goodness and no traffic as half term!

Not done much Christmassy, but did buy a stag in Sainsburys. Cost £18, but my word, he looks magnificent, about 12"-15" from hoof to top of antler. Think he will join the elephants beside the fireplace on a permanent basis :)
A smile costs little but creates much :)

    Personal touch is always appreciated.

Free I have tried to send it again so hopefully it works now

Got the Lindt chocolates for our advent calendar. Actually looked at their advent calendars which were 12 pound each and we bought loose pick and mix chocolates to fill ours with and also two boxes and it still cost us less 2 advent calendars would have cost us (and got two free chocolate Santa's too as we spent over £20)

Also have bought other half a coat he saw. He has been after one but I won't buy without him as know he wanted it to be a certain length so glad he has seen one that suits

Other than that I was unimpressed and didn't get ant other presents

Pumpkin just to warn you in case you didn't know the poundland scratch cards can only be collected in there they are not part of the national lottery ones only know as brought them last year my DS won because I muddled them with normal ones he couldn't understand why they wouldn't pay out at our corner shop ! Check prizes are as good I didn't last year.

Free I sent you a PM did you see it?

Nic I am off this week so post will be sorted at some point

Not very MSE but going to the Lindt shop tomorrow as we want chocolates to fill our advent calendar :D

Three presents arrived today and my storage space is looking abit full now - not much more to get thankfully as like to be done by end of November at latest, December rarely allows for much free time

We have sorted out old baubles out tonight ready for other half to take into the school he works in for the Christmas Fayre. They are still in good condition and will do someone just with changing colour scheme we have no space to keep two lots.

Thank you for doing that for us.

Stokiebecks has found some sachets and has offered to send them to me. Looking forward to having my first gingerbread latte of the season. And just want to say what a bunch lovely ladies you are all. To Becks for getting some and offering to send some, but also to everyone who has been looking.
You don't need to look for me anymore as I will now have some. Can't wait. Plan to watch a xmas movie with a cup this weekend :j
