Getting a refund for a faulty used car

The engine moved so much the flexible bit between the manifold and the exhaust has gone so it needs recovering to a garage. The woman at VOSA told me not to attempt any repairs until it had been re-inspected.
So have you checked they'll take it to a DVSA test centre? And if so how are you going to get it back?0 -

Absolutely no idea. I may be able to claim reasonable expenses in the county court claim. We will see.
I am only doing this because the garage won't refund me. This is the only way I can guarantee I will get my money back.0 -
I bought a car on 9th December. I asked for an MOT to be carried out on the vehicle and one was on the 7th December. The MOT had no advisories.
The exhaust started blowing the other day so I took it to Mr Exhaust and they found the reason why the exhaust was blowing was because two engine mounts were badly worn. They also found the exhause to be very corroded.
While it was up on the ramps they took a look at the brakes and said the pads were very worn and some of the discs badly scored. They doubted that the MOT from the 7th December was kosher.
Now I know the brakes are perilous I don't want to drive the car
I rang the dealer and he agreed to give me a refund, minus some money for the miles I have done but that it would take 6 days after I returned the car.
This is not a large franchise and I don't really want to lose the car without money in my hand or in my bank account.
Should I get VOSA involved regarding the MOT to prove the car is faulty?
Can anyone offer me any advise on how I should go about getting a refund.
Can anyone also tell me what would be a reasonable amount for the dealer to deduct for the milage bearing in mid I paid £1500 for the car.
Sounds like he's offered a refund. But as it's within 30 days he cannot make any deduction.0 -

He has and he hasn't. No one would return the car and the log book then wait 6 days for a refund. What would I do if he didn't process the refund?
I had to pay to take it way, he needs to pay me on its return.0 -

I thought it was already at a garage (Mr Exhaust) who could repair it, so why would your breakdown service take it to an MOT test centre who can't?
Who is this breakdown company?I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

A refund must be given without undue delay, and in any event within 14 days beginning with the day on which the trader agrees that the consumer is entitled to a refund.0 -

The people at Mr Exhaust said it was pointless trying to repair the exhaust with the engine moving so much. The woman at VOSA said I shouldn't attempt any repairs until it has been reinspected.0 -
