Gah haven't been here since the 8th! However still been keeping an eye on what we spend. All food has been paid for by cash so although I don't have all the receipts I know we have £17.29 left for the month. Meaning that since I last posted the above we've spent another £87.80.

Hello everyone - it's been great seeing how people are doing.
I'm still at the same spot I was when I posted the other day, no spends since then I'm pleased to say but much of that I have my boss to thank as he went on holiday for the week an so gave me bacon, eggs and tomatoes from his fridge that would have gone out of date otherwise.
I have run out of bread so will have to shop soon - although I don't eat a lot of bread it's one of those things I think I should have in the house but to be honest it's probably habitual.
Today I was a bit depressed thinking what to make for tea - please not more lentil/chick pea or tomato based dishes I thought - then I remembered about the rest of the bacon I had and thought about what I could do with it. Ended up making carbonara - made a home made bechamel sauce using the all in one method and added to it bacon I'd just fried and wholewheat spaghetti I'd just cooked, it was lovely and didn't take long. I would never have thought about making this for myself in the past but doing the GC has really made me think what I have in the store cupboards and to be more resourceful.
Another thing I might have mentioned is porridge - I used to buy the OSSimple sachets where you add milk and microwave. I don't have a microwave here. Anyway I bought 500 g of SBs porridge oats for 80p and if I use 2 5grammes per portion (it's 23 grammes in the sachets) that gives me 20 bowls of oats for 4 p each plus of course milk extra. It's just the hassle of cooking on an electric cooker instead of a microwave that's the inconvenience but the porridge tastes the same and whether, by the time you've switched on the cooker just to heat up a bowl of porridge through, it ends up costing the same as the sachet/microwave method due to the cost of the fuel, remains to be seen....but it's the only option i have for cooking at the moment....
So, I have to buy fruit, veg, bread and maybe some fish or meat if I can find some ys to use on the day. SM is 11 miles away so I can't go often but I do have to go this week as I bought some clothes online (paid for) and I need to collect from the store.
Remainder to do this week's shopping with is;

Hi all
Just a quick update from me - had my little get together at the weekend and I think I managed to keep food spends for it down to about £15 but I need to go through receipts tonight if time or maybe tomorrow if I run out (it's the day for Weekly Home Blessing for those of you who know FlyLady! plus I have to make soup for dinner and put lunch together for tomorrow, AND my friend is popping round which will be a couple of hours!) - I'll put a picture up of the spread I did later when I can post properly. Massive bonus is that I have tons left over, especially houmous/dip things, so it's wraps for lunches this week with salad plus houmousy things.Today's and tomorrow also have cut up leftover olives for that extra special treat!
