Hi everyone, I've been reading and frugalling but not posting! Work, kids and elderly parents have taken over during the last month.
Batch cooking from last month have saved my skin as I've often been called away to take care of my parents at little or no notice. A stocked freezer has made meal times easier and we haven't had to fall back on convieniance food.
I've one more shop to do this month and I've got around £40 in the budget so I should be ok.
Thanks to all on here who have helped me get into good habits which have helped me to keep my head above water as the proverbial hit the fanOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!0 -
Looks like another NSD for me, probably there will be some spend at the bar by DH as we are going to a birthday party in a venue (food provided), but it is not groceries so different budget (entertainment). Sig updated. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Hi everyone
Not been out today, as I'm retired I tend to leave the shopping until week days and miss the hustle and bustle of the local towns and city.
Made bread (well bm did), and a huge pot of pumpkin and butternut soup which is lovely on testing but probably can't do it again as it was a throw everything in one!!!
So that's it and another quiet day tomorrow although dgc are coming for a visit.

Evening all
Had a quick wizz around a few shops today for basic non-food items such as hand-wash, poly bags and damp traps. Went to S*vers and £-land and then treated us to a MnS 'dinner for 2' (entertainment budget ). So total of £14.36 from GC budget.
Shall need to get usual weeklies from Al*i t/m - f & v, milk, pack-ups etc. but trying to keep total down.
Must admit that I don't actually have to keep to a budget now, thank goodness. Have 'been there and done that' for far too many years in the past. I do budget for everything, enjoy being able to pay bills now without worrying and like to have that 'cushion' there as well these days
Hope you all enjoying the weekend

20.03 in Ali1 and 7.23 in MrT
Total 150.10/160.00 think I need to add another 20.00 to the pot just to get me to payday. DS had been home 16/12 to 16/1, so that's not too bad I suppose. Will try better next month !0 -
Not a NSD after all. Spent £6.75 on milk bread and wine. Will be a NSD tomorrow as far as GC goes as eating lunch out.
Will probably do a wee top up for fresh stuff on Monday or Tuesday at A.di but should be pretty low.
Also have my menu plan written out but almost forgot about Burns night, so that night will be Haggis and Neeps Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
Grocery challenge November : £291.65/300.00 NSD 10
Grocery challenge December : £0/240.00 NSD0 -
Total spend including dd lunches £73. Lunches for dd are cash, though she gets money daily. She takes things from here so anything else that's left over is a bonus for her. Good luck all.0

Penultimate last big spend of jan for us. Mr T again as wanted to go into town to help by dd (15) to open her first bank account! Not much useful on offer so my bulk buy budget from vouchers is still intact. Did manage to get some whoopsied bananas though 8 for 36p, banana bread now available for the bottomless pit that is 13 yo ds.:-) Budget looking very healthy due to using stock and oh away for 5 days last week. I know that figure will give me a boost for next month.0

Now at £158.25 for the month - not bad as I've had visitors and bought a few extras that I wouldn't normally do
will update sig.
