Franalamadingdong lunchtime shop was successful. I then went back with the car. I wasn't carrying 30kgs of weight plates back to the office by hand:D

Groceries were well within budget. No off list items purchased.:j Up to £160.4 out of my £250 budget and I should only need a small shop over the weekend.:j.

Zed that is a brilliant save.

FlorenceJ I am going to look for that recipe. Even the Aldi/Lidl packets are too expensive but I often need something at work in the morning.

  • Found the porridge recipe. Thanks. It's going to save a fortune, and I'll know exactly what's in it which is great.

Wow, I missed posting for a few days and had SO may posts to catch up on! :rotfl:

Another few shops taking us up to £269.21/£300 - and this includes DDs lunch money for next week, as I didn't have any change so gave her double.

Working on our £10/day principle, we are 3 days ahead on the budget front; however, we have plenty of food in to see us through to February so only anticipate milk and fresh fruit.

I'm actually REALLY excited about (potentially) coming in under budget :o
Thanks for the concern, it's to do with my job. A friend thinks it's a case of bullying in the workplace, but it's really complicated and I'm unsure. I've been so miserable about it all and full of anxiety I'll be going to see the Dr. Unfortunately, before that I have an appraisal at work, but I'm not sure if it is a true appraisal or some sort of disaplinary action. I've written how I really feel so may find myself out of a job come Thursday!
Aww Fran, I hope everything is ok - I've been through the whole not necessarily bullying, but someone who tried to make things very uneasy for me. If you need to vent, you know where I am!

Nipped into my bank , the bank where my wages get paid into (not the same bank who i phoned) to ask if they would print me a cheque to send to a local charity as we had donated to them instead of sending xmas cards at work, only to be told it would cost me £20 as its a current account they are only free if its from a savings account??? asked to speak to the manager who agreed it was true, even said they dont give people cheque books anymore but said she would waive the fee as it was for a charity ,: i then went across town to the bank who i phoned to see about the overdraft charge expecting an argument but spoke to a lovely lady who let me off:T so thanks for the advise,
Well done, I'm awfully chuffed for you! :T
  • Well done furry!

Well done freyasmum. Sounds like coming in under budget is a real possibility! Thanks for the kind offer. Mum's been an amazing support and a friend of mine has been so lovely. I'm having to wear my big girl pants, however much I don't want to, but it has made me face how unhappy I've been at least.
  • WOW, everyone seems to be doing so well, or reducing from other months, which is good. I have done a couple of shops, amounting to just over £17, leaving me with the grand total of £3.68 (I think), to last a week. Not sure if I will scrimp and do that or use my overflow pot - which is where I have any monies left over from previous grocery challenges. This seems like a good use for it. I don't really need much, but cannot live without my beloved free from salad cream, so we will see. Have updated sig.

Another grocery NSD yesterday, going to update my sig. Am quite below budged but this is because I have a lot of staples already in.

Also, we have been away a few days, going to visit DH's cousin in hospital away from London and also we have a regular Wednesday soup lunch at the church, which comes under the budget header of donations, not grocery.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
