I would really like to get to the end of the month at under £100. It's possible as I only need cream, decent butter and rolls, however I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms about not going to the supermarkets - I keep looking for excuses. I've only had one trip to sburys, one online shop and my daughter picked up a couple of items I needed. That's a first for me, but the willpower is very weak at the moment. :(

    Good morning everyone

In the final week am doing okay - spends since last update have added another £9.56 on eggs, bread milk and veg along with fruit. Total spends now at 79.91/100 - menu planned and have enough 'mains' to last.
Hoping to have surplus to start a 'bulk buying' fund to buy often used items like teabags and dogfood which crop up a lot in my spending diary.
zafiro - you are doing so well so don't be so hard on yourself - I joined the flylady challenge at the start of the week and am finding it a great distraction from shopping!!

Hope everyone has a good day

Found the porridge recipe. Thanks. It's going to save a fortune, and I'll know exactly what's in it which is great.

I have made my porridge like this for years but I don't use the powdered milk just water and I like it thick so just use twice as much water as porridge. Works out at 5p a portion.

Well last day of January for me.

Didn't manage to spend nothing but only bought eggs and toilet rolls, 2.50
so 77.50 left. Almost all of the months budget Am going to invest most of this in my own little shop. and stock up for the months ahead. Have found a half price offer on coffee, half price dishwasher tabs and an absolutely brilliant offer for gammon steaks at only 89p a pack of three huge steaks, will cut these in half, so six meals. and 2kg cooking bacon for £1.49. Oh and will need another sack of potatoes 25kg at £5.00.

Going for another month of use up freezer stocks as want to get rid of one this year to save on electric

  • Thanks oceanspirit. Meeting is tomorrow and dr's appointment is on Tuesday.

Zafiro, is it the sense of going out with a purpose? You're going out and you have a reason for doing it, you are providing things for your family. Or is it just habit?

Well my plans went from doing a shop, to not, to doing it again to getting a call from the school to pick up DS who felt sick. So no shop for us, but at least my porch is clean now....

  • £246.50 for me at nearly the end of this month which includes bulk buys from Amazon, an order from Approved Foods, toiletries and cleaning; but not medicine or catfood.

Im on track so far as a rough estimate is 333 each month, so I am hoping I can keep it like this. Hopefully I am doing something right and intend to carry on. Hopefully I can catch up with the rest of the thread soon.
