Once we hit a resession or the price of a food and holidays go up by 40% Continuing with Brexit will be about as popular as hitting your face with a hammer and the moment a pro euro government gets back in, we'll join again.

This is just a five or ten year wild goose chase.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

    Exactly.

I had lunch with a Conservative councillor yesterday who said the LDs won't keep Richmond for long.

Just wait until we end up in huge recession (hopefully kicing in at some point in Q1/2 2019) and the LD 'We told you this would happen' kicks in, thus sending large parts of the country red and orange. People will remember this and we could possibly be seeing sub-100 seat Tories for a very long time.

What will the Tories be campaigning on in 2020? 'We trebled the debt in 10 years and messed the economy up, because we offered a referendum and didn't actually realise what we were offering'?

It took Greenland (in much simpler circumstances) 6 years to leave, so I'm betting on transition deal, followed by Lib/Lab/SNP coalition in 2020 or 2025 with the whole idea being scrapped once the reality of the stupidity of what's happening has set in.

And if I'm honest, I can't wait for it.

    Thank you for that.

As an aside, could your crystal ball possibly let me know the lottery numbers for next weekend?

Seriously guys. Making such bold unqualified predictions is just setting yourself up for ridicule. If I predicted BREXIT & Trump this time last year, what would you have said?

so good news all round and you get the satisfaction of seeing harm the people of the UK who had the timerity to vote in a democratic referendum. won't be allowed to happen in many countries

Good to know I'm not allowed an opinion based on what usually happens when a country does something that makes outsiders not want to invest, which lets face it will probably happen in this case.

And I'd have said exactly the same thing had you predicted it. You've conveniently quoted my post, so maybe when it does happen you can come back and tell me I was right :)

    Hardly a majority, was it?

In fact thanks to this referendum, the country is more divided than it's ever been.

Ironically, it was largely those that voted for it that will be affected by it, so I see no problem with being happy they got what they wanted.

And what will Labour's campaign be in 2020: "Let's borrow £500bn more, nationalise everything in sight (we have no idea where the money will come from but we'll think of something) and trust the security of the country to Corbyn"

tell me what sort of democracy you favour

one that requires 95% in favour of things you don't approve
and one that only requires 5% in favour of things you like

europe has had quite a few like that : I prefer the British model

Not a Labour voter either, but if it's cheaper to borrow £500bn than to leave the EU, then yes I do see that as a viable option.

It's also important to keep the union of 4 countries together. Very difficult to put a price on that.

Nah. You were trying to present it as a fact, rather than an unsubstantiated opinion. The lunch with a tory councillor was obviously a vain attempt to try and add some validity.;)
