Have not read all of this, too much bitter krap from too many people, especially muscles, who seems be deeply, grievously jealous about anyone he perceives to have something he does not have. Well, as in similar posts here, he can have my Parastomal hernia, shattered vertebra & crumbling spine, left side paralysis, busted hips, osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis. And my wife's spinal problems. So you want us to have a Focus?- well, 2 leases (yes-leases) ago, I had one. Neither myself nor my wife can get in and/or out of it in comfort. Several times, one or both of us have had to be helped out... Now, that's embarrassment, added to the feelings of shame when some know-nothing wazzak like you decides to tell us what parasites we disabled people are. I served my country in the Army for 12 years. I have worked all my life in responsible, technical jobs, until an injury that was not my fault, created my problems.
As a consequence, my next car would have to be something we could use in (relative) comfort. That turned out to be a C-Max and I knew I would have to save for the £495 deposit that the 2.0ltr Tdci would take to get. Don't criticise me here for the choice of engine: we make regular long trips and often carry grandchildren, or is that against your opinions too? I saved every penny I could and managed it. It has been the most suitable car for our purposes and conditions and I would like another, but the deposit, thanks to the state of the Pound, has now risen beyond our means. My next car is due in April and I really do not know what to do. We live in a rural area with a very poor bus service. Would you like us to stay at home and go nowhere? Does that suit you? Are you volunteering to take us to hospital and surgery appointments, shopping, seeing family and friends? I would say that people like you make me sick, but I am already quite sick enough.
Parking? I am so tired of seeing able-bodied people using Blue Badge bays, then receiving abuse from people just like you, when I point out what they are doing. I and every other Blue Badge holder that I know, is aware that we cannot park wherever we are liable to cause a traffic hazard.
You need to concentrate on your own lives, all you mindless, unsympathetic, pathetic, critics with no understanding of wat it is like to have a condition, or conditions, which would make every day a misery, for them. For us, we just get on with our lives and make the most of it. Until someone makes a Thread like this. Grow up and grow a pair!I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

No you miss the point a Corsair wouldn't be on the list she had to choose from.
Corsair.

If you've worked then why is it a struggle to raise the deposit? In the grand scheme of things it's not a large sum for three years motoring.0 -
My next car is due in April and I really do not know what to do...
My friend kept his last car for 5 years, so that could be an option. It suits Motability as the costs of providing an older car to you are less than those for providing a new one.
I'd also highly recommend their search engine on their Website. If you've not seen it before (maybe selected a car over the phone) it can trawl all the vehicles available, selecting for advance payment, car specifications and disability needs.
There are several tall vehicles available with nil advance, though if you prefer diesel and/or automatic transmission, the choice narrows down somewhat.0 -
I bet a lot of motability folk would give it up if they had to keep the car 10 years. Half of the claimers use it as a status symbol and think they are above everyone else.
I was in Kwik Fit once (more fool me) when a hefa in a motability car turned up demanding new tyres there and then instead of waiting her turn in the queue. Entitlement at it's best.0 -

Worked past tense. I'm guessing that as he had his injury (guessing on his info) the he had almost 9 years ago, 3 leases at 3 years, then he has had to use all his savings to just get by as he probably didn't get enough DLA to cover the costs of his normal living as seems to be the problem lots of DLA users find themselves in.0 -

Bet they wouldn't.0 -

Another person who should be put on an ignore list.
There are a number of reasons for replacement every 3 years. I'm sure you're bright enough to work it out, or perhaps not.0 -

Utterly clueless.
But yes, a lot would give it up if they had to keep it for ten years.
One of the key reasons many people take the motorbility option is that it gives them a car that should be reliable (sort of important if you depend on it to move you around).
Most cars tend to become less reliable after about 5 years with more time in the garage for repairs,
Most of the people I know who have had cars on the scheme don't see it as a status symbol, but see it as a way to get reliable transport that they couldn't afford to simply go out and buy when they have no choice but to run a car.0 -

You get these sort of people in all walks of life.
To use the experience of one rude, arrogant, ignorant idiot who happens to be disabled as a reason to tar the whole disabled population with the same brush says volumes about you!0
