Phew got over it. I had 2 slices granary bread with 1 ounce cheese, a banana and some sultanas and seeds, cup of tea (didn't have time for my usual brekkie today (had a soft white bread roll on the run)
I think I am learning that when I crave these things it's because I'm hungry not because I actually want them, as soon as I had eaten the craving for PB went away. The cheese was enough - much less than I'd usually have but I took small nibbles.
Got to make stew tonight0 -
Sorry to do a mostly round robin kind of post, but didn't get much sleep last night and have been out all day at Amberley Working Museum and just got back so am right cream crackered.
Grats MrsM on your loss, very well done, especially considering you've been limited by a bit of ill health. You should get rid of that next 3.5 lb in good time I am surewarm welcome to the new people ! and hugs to the poorly ones, look after yourselves !
Cotsvale I am another cheese addict and would happily work through a block in a couple of days just eating it for snacks. What I have started doing now is grating most of the block down when I buy some and freezing it - leaving just a little bit in the fridge for immediate use. Luckily I also love lower and low fat cheeses so can use cottage and soft cheese instead too, with oatcakes/ryvita and fruit/salad as a snack. I eat a lot of celery and cucumber too - both with meals and as snacks - I can easily eat a whole cucumber in two days just by myself ! so if you can eat stuff like that, and/or carrots, apples etc with your bit of cheese, goes well with it and fills you up - then you'll find you're just eating the fruit/veggies on their own more often and the cheese less often.
Toonie tis ok, the chilli flakes were optional in the original soup recipe I got that from, so no need to put them in if you don't like them, or just put a tiny pinch of chilli powder in, or a shake of sweet chilli sauce at the end - I don't like food that blows the roof of my motuh off, LOL.
So had a lovely day out, not too bad foodwise - breakfast was coffe and wholemeal marmite toast at Sainsburys, lunch was at the museum restaurant - didnt fancy any of their hot food or sandwiches, so had some rhubarb & blackberry crumble and custard - which was very nice - lovely and tart and not all sicky sweet. Blooming overpriced though - 2 rhubarb crumbles and 2x cups of tea came to 9.40 !! Had another cuppa and a packet of nuts that I'd brought with me mid afternoon, now am at home very tired and having a battle about what to have for dinner. Part of me wants to go to the chip shop - which wouldn't really be too bad as I hardly ever get takeways, the last time I went there was mid August. But I have leftover mashed potatoes/baked beans that need using up - and I hate waste - so what I'll probably do is heat those up in the oven and break an egg into them to cook in. I've decided sod the housework todaybut hopefully I'll recover enough energy to pop down to the Co op to top my fruit bowl up, and also prep salad and veg for snacks for weekend job tomorrow ( and hope I have time to blooming well eat it this time, sigh )

Evening all
Just thought id pop on and see what i have been missing... but not many posts since my last on - obviously lots of busy folks out there
Well its 10:10 here..so im not long for my bed
Had turkey dinner as arranged.... decided i DO prefer chicken, but it still kept me satisfied.... also had 2 apples and some tinned pineapple.... and ignored the pieces of HM pizza in the fridge...going to shove them in the freezer before i go to bed... hubby will use them up when he gets the munchies!!
debtfree... that amount of chinese wasn't bad at all, and as you say..if you had resisted completely you probably would have wanted it even more and had more when you did give in.. so well done - and you enjoyed it which is the most important bit
Cotsvale.... :T on resisting the dreaded peanut butter....I think you are right.. if you get hungry, your body fancies all those things that you try and control.... give it something else and its happy....
Kittyscarlett......£9.40  daylight robbery.... mind you if they were nice thats a bit more bearable...and it was a treat - don't know about everyone else but on the rare occasion i go out to eat i find myself sat thinking i could do that for a fraction of the cost.. i know they have to make profit but heck.... I love crumble... nice and tart with thick crumble with oats, coconut and brown sugar in  ..hot with thick, thick cream...not custard.....
Frogga - hope all is well, except the extra work
well i think thats about it...off 10 pin bowling tomorrow... a bit of exercise, without feeling like im being punished..
Well folks hope everyone has had a good day...keep up the good work-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Hello! can I join in?
It will be lovely to have contact with others who are forever fighting the dreaded bulge and without paying out weekly membership fees to slimming clubs,I must admit that I usualy did well when I went (6 stone .WW...4 1/2stone.SW and various other regimes)but it was so expensive that I couldn't afford to keep going so soon fell off the wagon and piled the weight back on currently 14.4stone and only 5'2".
Can't believe I've told you all as I'm too embarrased usualy to admit it.:shhh:
I find as I am getting older that the pounds aren't coming off as quick as they used to and my poor feet are aching so hopefully they will improve if I can reduce the load !!
For cheese lovers try the Edam cheese with garlic & herbs (green wax coating) I buy it from Asda and find a little goes a long way,try a slice of wholemeal bread toasted then covered with thinly sliced mushrooms and tomatoes with 1oz of this Edam grated on top, grill until hot & bubbling, makes a lovely mock pizza but quite healthy.
Try cooking chicken breast in a covered pan with some undiluted suger free cordial, I like the lemon or the orange and then thicken before serving with a tiny bit of cornflour.
Wish me luck girls and boys as I am a stress eater and am going thru a bad patch at the moment, 89yr old mum fading painfully away and it breaks my heart to see her suffering...
Sorry..had to break off for a while got a bit upset typing that . Well I'll go now and have a nice cup of herbal tea.:coffee:What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Hiya Turbo_Gran, yes, join in and very welcome to you ! I love the name btw
Thanks for sharing your tips too. Also don't worry about getting upset if life is stressful, is fine to come here and share it - we all understand ( and also understand the relationship that stress can have with food in various ways )
Mrs M - I almost ALWAYS think when I'm eating out " cor, I could have done better then this for a fraction of the price ", sometimes I voice that opinion too :P no wonder I don't go out to eat much, LOL ( well, there are other reasons ! ) I wasn't paying this time but my best mate did, and he's a pensioner so I felt bad on his behalf, although he didn't utter a word of complaint." Sorry Mrs M I forgot to congratulate you on your weight loss well done :j and to everyone else who has managed to drop a few pounds (or kilos) this week. I look forward to managing this myself next week.
I don't think I could wait a month like Frogga, weighing in weekly helps to keep me on the straight and narrow...usually! With daily weigh-ins I end up freaking out, panicking about being up one pound one day and down the next. I can see the sense in weighing in once a month, but for now I will stick to once a week. That's what makes this thread special, we are all using the the same basic idea (OS menus from scratch), but adapting it our suit our own circumstances...and winning! Some folk will lose weight faster than others, but we should all be getting healthier, and hopefully happier, which should perhaps help with the weight loss.
Oh dear I am off on a ramble...sorry Mrs M, you could well have some opposition in the nattering stakes...I must learn to curb my digits!
It's too late, and I should be in bed, working 9am to 1pm today (Saturday), so should have gone ages ago. Did another 2km on the bike this evening. I am so unfit, I am only able to manage 2 km at a time, but I try to fit in two sessions a day. At the moment both my sons and myself are using the bike every day...perhaps my OH will manage it sometime. Mind you, he was in London all day Friday (work) and is in Birmingham most of Saturday (play), he will be shattered tomorrow night, so no cycling for him! He is even going to miss the England rugby match....evening play (no, not another woman...astronomy!), and wont get back until midnight.
Food wise I wasn't too bad today:
B: Special K, soya milk & OJ
snack: handful of grapes
L: HM soup, 1 slice wholemeal bread and 2 small slices of cheese + 1 apple
snack: HM low sugar choccie muffin mmmmmmm
T: sausages, clapshot, mushrooms, carrots & cabbage...yummy!
snack: a fun-size Mars Bar....eek!
So I collapsed at the final hurdle...I think I just might start brushing my teeth after T a la Frogga, then I will at least think twice (or thrice!) about eating anything else in the evening.
Now I must get to bed...I know that if I don't get enough sleep, then I don't tend to lose weight, so why am I still up???
Will drop into this thread sometime over the weekend.
Meanwhile sweet dreams and have a great Saturday.;)

Blast fell at the last post yesterday. Ran out of milk so hubby went to tesco's with son. Chocolate and crisps were brought into the house and I had my share. I'm definately doing better 70% of the time with what I am eating much more healthy but it's the other 30% that's going to stop me losing weight. I will try harder to resist old habits this week. Here is a seasonal meal for you.
Pumpkin casserole (Serves 4)
2 Tabs Olive Oil
½ oz Butter
1 Onion cut into 8 segments
S & P
1 Turnip Diced
1 Potato Diced
1 1lb Pumpkin peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
1 Parsnip cut into 1 inch cubes
1 teaspoon Curry Powder or Paste
13 fl oz Vegetable Stock
3 fl oz sour cream or crème fraiche
Chopped Coriander to garnish
Real Way
Heat oil and butter together add onion and cook until soft.
Add veg, curry powder and stock and bring to boil. Cover and simmer for 20 mins.
Removed veg from pan and put in a warm serving dish. Bring sauce to boil and stir in cream. Cook gently until thickened. Spoon sauce over veg garnish and serve hot.
Cotsvale's Way
I don’t really care about neat 1 inch diced veg just do it to a size you think will cook in 20 mins.
You don’t really need the oil or butter, spray pan with frylight or soften onion in a little water.
I don’t use the turnip.
I don’t bother with the cream or crème fraiche thicken with cornflour and water or I suppose you could use natural yog.
Serve with rice or make a pie with it.
Add coriander only if you like it.
Cotsvale's top tip
If you find it difficult to peel pumpkin cut it into a few large slices, de-seed and then place in boiling water for a few minutes, strain and leave to cool. The skin will peel off easily and as you want to cook it anyway it doesn’t affect the casserole, just add the skinned pumpkin as instructed by the recipe.0 -
That's a good recipe Cotsvale - thanks.
I'm not doing too badly - did have a dessert at the Harvester last night which I didn't need (the rest of the meal was healthy), but weighed myself this morning and I'm down 4lbs since Tuesday night (now exactly 15 stone). I'm not going to get excited until the first half-stone is gone though as I know it'll mainly be water.0 -
Morning all
Hi there turbo-gran..and welcome
So sorry about your mum too... I think most of us are, or have been emotional eaters... it can be so difficult as if its something great happening -we celebrate by eating out etc..if its bad news we eat to bury the feelings and "make ourself feel better"... it really can be difficult to win!!!.... but you are in the right place... come on here and let it all out.. you will be fine
Keiss21.. another one who rambles :T ... its not just me now....
A fun size mars bars doesn't mean you fell at the last hurdle...if that little treat at the end of the day keeps you going through the day because you know its waiting - then don't give it up unless YOU think its a problem.... heck the yoghurts i have here are 250g pots and about 200cals a pot and 1.8% fat but they are seriously gorgeous... so im sure there are less cals in your mini mars etc.... it just so happens that i would rather have the yog... i could change to lower cal, fat, smaller pots etc - but i love these ones so im keeping them
... so if that little bit of choc helps....why not!!!
Morning frogga
Sorry my digital scales are ones i got last time we were in germany..so kilos is what i get...ahhh but 1 kilo IS more than 2lb...
... so i weigh in kilos but transfer the overall loss into lbs.... i have set up a spread sheet that works out what kilos, lbs i have lost, have to lose etc - can't believe i can remember how to do that :T ..yes i am that sad..i have a spreadsheet of my weight....:rotfl:
Well me n hubby are off 10pin bowling later... which will kill a couple of hours -and burn a few calories :T ...
I have had my 2 weetabix for brekkie
lunch hmmm well we are leaving at 12...so i won't be hungry by then - hubby will be having HM pizza (will stop him wanting a gyros whilst we are out;) )... so i could end up with a late lunch-early dinner... which is going to be HM chilli n rice for hubby... bleughhh and i will be having a piece of HM shepherds pie i have just taken out of the freezer - with plenty of veg
Nipped out the other yesterday to get a bag sack of potatoes... picked up a 10 kilo/22lb (frogga:D ) which is less than i have lost... bl**dy hell i can't imagine carting that around all day... really made me realise what im carrying around with me  ...ended up getting hubby to grab a 25kilo/55lb bag can't wait until i have lost that much -as i can hardly shift it  and i STILL need to lose the equivalent of 2 of those -on top of what i have allready lost:rotfl:
So if ever i feel a bit dissheartened... im gonna think about those sacks of spuds, and how i don't want to look like one -tied in the middle:rotfl:
Well ladies i had better get off and get ready to go out
Keep up the good work everyone...hope we all have a great day:T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
