that's the way..chip chip chip away until he gives in :rotfl: .. whats betting when you get one..and he realises how good slow cookers are... it will have been his idea :rotfl:

    Feels good ;)

As for the "it will have been his idea" - that will just make it the same as the bookcase ("why do we want a bookcase for?" turning into "I thought it was a good idea for a bookcase in the hall")

    Hi,
I find the idea of this thread very interesting. I, like many others, have been on loads of different diets, but just find them quite faffy.
I love the idea of just eating normal food and being able to lose some weight and be healthy.
I haven't read through the whole thread but I was wondering if there are any guidelines you are following, or are you doing your own things?

I would love to get to the point where I'm just have cereal for breakfast, sandwich and fruit for lunch and then whatever I've cooked for everyone else for tea....

I'm just eating healthily and trying to just eat when I'm actually hungry and stop when I'm comfortably full - a la Paul Mc Kenna!
I lost a stone doing that last year then lost the plot at Christmas and put it all back on:mad:

    Hi again

I've had my healthy breakfast (posted yesterday)
Lunch at my dad's a small cheese roll and a banana but forgot to ask for the roll without butter.

In a panic over dinner cooking for the kids early as my daughter starts work at 6pm and cooking for me and hubby later but don't know what to have - I get a mental block and can only think of unhealthy things or start wanting to go out for dinner. ( It's the confusion and worry of it all)......

I did well yesterday until time ran out and I had a take out curry and hated eating every mouthful wish I'd just had toast!!

    Hi everyone,
OK, my plan is just to have 3 meals a day...thing is as soon as I make a plan, I seem to have to find a way to ruin it.
Its almost like I don't want to be any slimmer....I just don't get it. I refuse to get stressed about it, but I'm tired of carrying the extra weight and just want to not feel like a slave to food.
Surely, it should just be a case of eating when I;m hungry...but I find myself eating for no reason..
Oh well, tomorrow is another day....

    Evening all!
Had a lovely tea of stuffed mushrooms and sweet potato chips followed by ice cream - need to finish the tub so I can defrost the freezer at weekend. I was very good as there's another portion left for tomorrow, I didn't eat it all in one go :D:D:D
I just got back from a walk to IKEA and back - an hour and a half, so that's me pooped  and I only bought what I went for and didn't spend anything extra:j :j
  • Vixtress, I am sorry you got so upset at your weigh in. No one thinks badly of you for the way you acted afterwards either, we've all been there. Have a big hug, don't worry, start trying again tomorrow eh ? try and remember that your weight loss will even out over the weeks and its ok. Also try and remember that the benefits of eating healthier and all that effort aren't always weighed out in, um, weight :P it could be as youve already mentioned your body changing shape a bit, clothes feel different, bit more energy - I think I've already said I don't need to keep reaching for the Gaviscon bottle these days, also I used to get a runny tum with wearying frequency and that's dropped right down too :)

FrankieM, I don't think you're alone there :) If I start saying to myself " no more [ insert names of outlawed foods here ] ", " just eat at xyz times " " just have xyz meals a day " etc etc, I start to instantly rebel. That's why I try to plan but allow myself to be flexible so the panic doesn't set in and then the urge to eat everything in sight a la Homer Simpson :P there's usually a reason for eating although often its not cos we're hungry - boredom, habit, anxiety etc etc. When you feel the urge to overdo it, can you try and occupy yourself with something else for a bit to divert yourself ? Or get healthy snacks in so if you do feel the urge to eat loads you can't do much harm ?

cotsvale, sorry I didn't see your post in time to make some suggestions :) if you're going to have the same problem tomorrow, post what you have in your fridge/cupboard/freezer etc so we can all have a think :D dinner doesn't have to be elaborate - jacket spud, beans and maybe a bit of salad is fine !

I'm pleased with myself for not napping. Was quite active walking to and fro shops etc. Did a bit of tidying up and decluttering the wardrobe - got a couple of bags for the charity shop plus threw out some holey manky old socks and knickers I'd been clinging on to :P Feeling a bit stressed for a non work reason which is making my stomach churn so don't feel very hungry. Will try and calm self down and probably eat some rice cakes, cold meat and fruit later :)

OK...nearly caught up on all the new posts since Tuesday (its a lot!!!) Welcome to everyone new...its a great place here with lots of lovely people.

My day has not been great food wise, I just wasn't feeling that hungry.
Breakfast - 1 slice of toast with marmalade and cup of tea
Lunch - Two small rolls (2 bites and they are gone) with grated cheese
    Snack - Fresh pineapple
Dinner - Scone with little bit of raspberry jam

Have been quite tired today, my boyfriend has a chest infection and a really, really bad cough, so have been playing nurse. Exercise wise haven't done much either, though plan on using my exercise bike tomorrow whilst watching the Wright Stuff. Tomorrow I think I'll have soft boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast, soup for lunch and something for dinner.

Thanks for the spicy carrot soup recipe kittyscarlett, have copied it for later use, though I'm not to sure on the chillies (me and spices aren't to fond of each other-but I do love ginger and cinnamon).

Just wanted to mention something about sugar and sweetners. I've found that since developing an allergy to a lot of fruits that I crave chocolate more. I used to eat fruit all the time and chocolate rarely, now though I have to be very careful about what I eat as my allergic reactions seem to be on the increase (fruits which I've had no problem with in the past are now causing reactions). The only way I seem to manage this is having sugar in my tea, as I won't use sweetners after having a severe reaction to aspartame. I think that as long as you can be sensible about what you consume, then sugar doesn't have to be a problem, if however you know you can't be sensible, its best to not have any.

    Hugs to everyone x
