Morning ladies!
Gosh what a lot of newbies - welcome all:T :T :T
I had a migraine yesterday  Medication shifts the headache but leaves me feeling offy and hungry. Had a cereal ber before going to daughters then made broad bean risotto followed by 2 Alpro desserts. During the evening I had a bag of ryvita minis and a slice of bread and butter so I'm pleased I didn't have a pigout like I usually do:D
Head's ok today, had wholemeal toast and marmalade for breakfast, just had 2 mini bananas.
Lunch is a wholmeal sandwich with parsnip and carrot pate and salad with grapes for afternoon snack
Tea will be mushrooms stuffed with couscous and spinach with sweet potato chips and Alpro desserts for pud.
And I'm belly dancing at lunchtime for excercise:j :j :j0 -
Hi,
I find the idea of this thread very interesting. I, like many others, have been on loads of different diets, but just find them quite faffy.
I love the idea of just eating normal food and being able to lose some weight and be healthy.
I haven't read through the whole thread but I was wondering if there are any guidelines you are following, or are you doing your own things?
I would love to get to the point where I'm just have cereal for breakfast, sandwich and fruit for lunch and then whatever I've cooked for everyone else for tea....0 -
I'm doing basic calorie counting because I'm a geek; I've worked out to lose 1lb/week, I need to reduce to 1500 calories a day, so that's approximately what I'm aiming for, and going for lower-fat options. I'm not going to stress if I go a bit over one day. I'm also aiming to increase my general activity levels.
I've tried to force myself into a 3-meal pattern but it just doesn't work for me - I'm a grazer, and I absolutely can't go to sleep if I'm hungry. So last night at midnight I had 3 corn crackers and some slivers of cheese, all factored into the daily count.0 -
Thanks for that. I have to say I prefer the strict regime of 3 meals a day.
So maybe I should just try and stick with what my ideal is...
I read somewhere that if you try and eat the same things for 1 or 2 meals then thats a good thing cause it means your not having to think about food.
Like you, I'm also trying to move more. Trying to make sure I take the dog out for an hour everyday.0 -
Morning all, Still feeling very rough! Oh well, at least i am not that hungry, although yesterday as soon as i started to eat i wanted more!
Well i walked into town yesterday and got a few bits, i have to walk to the post office today so hopefully that will make me feel better. My OH did buy take away last night, on his way home from work, so i had no say! Oh well, i had not eaten much during the day and will be having salmon tonight with rice and stir fried veg..

Good luck with the interview Eumenidies.
And hello to my fellow migrane sufferer. - I find mine is associated with my time of the month but is it actually the craving for starchy sugary things that's doing it? ( especially McCoy's salt and malt vinegar crisps).
I'm a study leave day from work right now, so far done zero, but I have been to the school harvest fair where I had to buy a cream tea - they were selling the most unusual tray-bakes, some kind of dark brown fudgy stuff with blue icing oozing out of it - I just had a cornflake cake!
I have to go back later on for my other son's stint and get another cup of tea ! They actually have a fruit and veg stall so I'll go and get some more cash and buy some of that coz I haven't got much in anyway
So better get working, it's hard to sit at the computer without constant cups of tea!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -

hello all
bit late today..but got here eventually.. had an impromptu walk with next door neighbour and her dog this morning..so thats another 1hrs exercise :j , although the calf i tore is throbbing...oops... still never mind.. we then stopped off at LIDL.. didn't need anything but picked up some nobbies, tinned grapefruit, crispbreads and avocados...
Managed to get the bathrom scrubbed and the windows cleaned before neighbour called and vacuumed when i got in oh and have a bowl of bread dough proving at the moment-which is going to become pizzas later..so if hubby comes in hungry thats him sorted, if not i will wedge it and freeze..so we are all done for the day :T cross stiching ..woohoo
Had 2 weetabix for brekkie
cornedbeef hash from last night for my lunch
just have to decide what is for dinner tonight.. could end up being fruit and yoghurt  ....hubby being fed at golf course

taplady - don't worry about it...its only a wee bit, and you are nipping it in the bud...and you know what did it..so you will soon get rid of it again
FrankieM.. i think everyone is doing there own thing....pinching bits off each other as we go along
Im pretty much having- cereal, fruit or yogs for brekkie
- lunch is crispbreads with low fat cheese/pate etc..or leftovers like today
- dinner - is everything from steak pies, toad in the hole, roast dinners, cornedbeef hash, ..all home made
But i am not thinking that i cant have a bar of choc, bag of crisps... its just at the moment im not craving or wanting anything...and its working.. and you can cook 1 meal and all eat the same this way.

Afternoon lovely losers ! Hello and and a big welcome to the new folks
Can't keep up with all the posts which is a GOOD thing LOL ! as it means more people are joining in and finding the thread helpful. Its so great that people who have " lurked " onsite a while finding the confidence to post here, well done !
FrankieM - the thing is not to force yourself into anything ... for some, 3 square meals a day works, for others grazing works, its all down to the individual. We do have common aims and philosophy towards healthier living and consequent weight loss - ie you don't need to pay out money for expensive slimming clubs or special diet foods, or get into the not too healthy diet/gain/diet/gain mindset...you can do it OS by making more food from scratch, making healthier and less processed food choices, not denying yourself things if you really want them but not overdoing it all the time, trying to plan ahead but taking each day and each meal as it comes, being more active ie walking, housework, gardening etc - and having the good humoured down to earth consistent support of a very diverse range of folks !
And tis a permanent thing ... to keep on slowly saving money, losing weight, feeling better out and in, the basic good old fashioned wayDo whatever you need to help yourselves with this thread, be it posting meals, food foibles, issues, ideas, anxieties, daft stuff, bad times, good times, its all good
Had a long lay in this morning and leisurely bath. Brunch was onion & poppsyeed bagel with ham, a banana, chopped fresh apple, a slice of dried mango and some lush dates from Waitrose. Feeling sleepy again but am fighting that and going out to the local shops to buy a few household bits. You're probably thinking " ye gods that girl is out spending money for England this week "but when I'm working it's a case of not having either the time, the energy or the inclination to go and get more than foodstuffs... so often its months before I can replace worn household or clothing stuff
and I'll enjoy the walk too !
