    Hi Alfiesmum

I only found out about the "group hug" icon the other day when my cursor hovered over it and revealed it was actually a 3some :rotfl: ....

It sounds like we are doing the exact same thing :T .. I am eating savoury meat pie, pasties, cheese n potato flan -all HM -using half lard half butter for pastry... HM sausages in casseroles, ..roasties, HM stuffing ..the works... and losing weight:rotfl: .... I only use butter (no low fat spread)on toast etc, and i have found that by thinking that im not on a diet ..(bleughh hate that word!!! ), but i am making healthy choices for today... it is a doddle- i have no cravings at all and have only had 1 curly wurly and i bag of mini jaffacakes in 10 weeks -and that was in the first 2 weeks of moving here.. and am really not even interested in any stuff like that :j . keep up the good work:D

    Newlywed

oooh another craft....that sounds interesting mmm I did start making jewellery and selling on ebay..but there is so much competiotion from the mass produced stuff i decided to give it up when we moved here.... really should get all the stuff out and use it up, but selling it would be a pain in the bum....
but x stitching..ooohh i love it..and keeps my piggies busy....

Im planning on making all next years xmas gifts....did my niece a beautifull blue dragon xstitch for her birthday ..it took ages as he was over 3ft tall...it was difficult giving it away.. think as soon as xmas is over im gonna make a start... you have me off again now:o ..still you can get allsorts of crafting stuff here.. :j

Wow i can't believe anyone finds it easier to diet at home over work....
I work two full days where I find myself barely eating. I take a salad and fruit with me and that is all I will eat for the entire 9hr shift.......

Wheras at home I am becoming increasingly worried that my cupboard hinges are getting worn out, the amount of times I open and close them,:o AND the fridge, the poor fridge, how it ever remains cold is beyond me. As I must stare longingly into it for the best part of 4hrs each day:eek: so much temptation so little stopping me....:EasterBun

Anyway it is my birthday today and the kids will be mighty upset if i don't have a cake with candles for them to take turns blowing out....

    Mel x

I work in a small care home for adults with learning disabilities and the kettle is always on and the biscuit tin out! plus we take the service users out for lots of meals which is hard and also the shifts are 10 and 11 hours with sleep-ins in between shifts so I can be at work for 31 hours over 2 days! I do take Hm soup and fruit but there's always temptation there which I dont get at home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - ENJOY YOUR CAKE!:D :bdaycake:
    Do what you love :happyhear

Just catching up again after the weekend. Went out to a eat a few times as we had familiy visiting. Can't say I was saintly but I chose alot more sensibly than I normally would have (no bread or side orders) so I don't feel in the slightest bit guilty that I had a strawberry eton mess.
Back on track yesterday and today with toasted multigrain bagel for brunch, tonights tea is jacket potato with quorn chilli.
Well done to all those that have lost, I am not weighing myself this week as its the one week in the month where I can put on 6lbs without eating any differently (IYKWIM) :o
  • eek that group hug really is quite rude, stop leading me astray im sweet and innocent, honest!

those recipes look great mrs m and whoever said they have lots of cookbooks they don't read and find have so many ingredients you'll never use again sounds just like me

seriously mrs m how do you remember who has said what on here?

well ive resisted the urge to comfort eat today and im feeling very annoyed and let down at the ou and seriously considered a trip to the shop for chocolate but decided on a piece of weetabix cake instead and instead of eating it all i gave a piece to everyone so there was only one piece for me, im still angry but couldn't easily run to the shop now anyway due to a tired toddler and sleeping baby!

    todays food is
    breakfast: porridge
    snack: banana
    lunch: soup and weetabix cake
    snack: pear
    tea: sausage and tomato pasta
    snack: chicken sandwich

is anyone trying that No S diet? i wasn't very impressed to be honest i can see its probably more sensible than ww etc but still not all that sensible i didn't think, sorry

well done frogga for not giving in yesterday:T

im going to start back to proper exxercse tomorrow, i have a curved spine and arthritis but find generally my pain is less if im exercising regularly so from tomorrow the plan is

    Monday: gym then sauna
    Tuesday:
    gym then sauna
    Wednesday:
    aquafit then sauna
    Thursday:
    gym
    Friday:
    aquafit then sauna
    Saturday:
    gym then sauna
    Sunday:
    stepper
plus 30 mins of yoga each evening to relax before bed

I have a dvd for the yoga and i find it helps me relax better to sleep which with all the studying etc im trying to do at the mo will be handy. i find going into te sauna afterwards stops me being sore later. when i did aquafit alone twice a week before i was losing 2lb a week without modifying my food so i think this routine will help though im not expecting miracles and i know i wont always lose due to the muscle/fat thing

anyway im sure ive nattered on for long enough now, off to have a pear, have a good day all

Well I worked out what to have for lunch! I had avacado (free from friends organic box) with home grown tomatoes with a pitta bread. A pot of tea as I appear to have developed a cold as the day has gone on.
Now to stay warm enough and try and stop sniffling.
Smile the sun should be out soon!:)

    :D Debt free
All this healthy food is giving me masses of brain power :D ..

ok ok.. when you start typing your message..click on "go advanced" and when the box that you type in appears..you can scroll down and see everyone elses posts in order:shhh: and find all the icons :D

I read cookery books like most people read story books :p

The no S diet..had some good bits.. but i still felt it tried to cram everyone into the same box....

I definitely don't agree with "no Second helpings" but you can pile 1 plate high  .... i would eat it because it was there.. now i have smaller servings - knowing i can have something more if i need.. and have never needed to yet
Some people find a bit of choc etc helps them through the day and satisfies their cravings, others know that 1 square will lead to several bars.. I think that this might be why this thread is working for so many people - we are all eating differently in ways that suit our tastes n lifestyles.... and i for one can say i have never found it sooo straight forward:T

Well done on resisting the choc... sorry you are feeling cross and let down at the OU?... open university?....but you did really well to avoid the "emotional eating" :T an HOW much exercise  well done you

    Leopardlady..
I adore avocado...mmm...and they are so good for your skin and hair.. i like em mashed up with a squeeze of lemon and spread on granary bread...with a bit of red onion mm
note to self.......must get avocado next time i go out

  • and all this time i thought you had a stunning memory!!

i think you are right about this thread, im quite comfortable doing my thing on here even though you and others are doing entirely different things, we just have a common aim and that seems to work.

yes sorry the ou is the open university, my current course couldn't have been handled much worse i don't think, its my first level 2 course which means it is the first one that has a direct effect on the class of degree is get, 1st 2:1 etc so im quite annoyed with them. must admit im very proud of not going to the shop when i had the opportunity and the moment has long passed now, i just need to manage it next time and the next!

The exercise looks more impressive than it is, i only really put it down so i could be bullied a little if i don't stick to it! i only do half an hour or so in the gym and aquafit is 45 minutes but if i don't do something every day i wont do it as has been proved by me not going for the last 2 months and wasting my fees. the yoga is more to relax me for bed than exercise purposes

leapordlady that lunch sounds lovely, i bought one once to give to sophie decided it was a lot of hassle for something she wasnt all that keen on and never got it again but might have to try it for myself, have never even thought to so thank you :T

    Today is a new day:

Breakfast - nothing (took cereal to work but forgot to eat it  )
    snack - 2 small bananas
lunch - 2 slices of malted harvest bread with cheese and a blueberry muffin
    snack - apple and avocado
dinner - fish and chips (It a brownie night so I'll work it off)

Its official - I've managed to lose 3 cms off my waist in 2 months :j

Hooray, glad I'm not the only one :T I prefer cookery books that are partly or mostly anecdotal as opposed to rather sterile lists of recipes, no matter how well illustrated. I got a bargain today in the Oxfam book shop, a book called " Just like mother used to make " by someone called Tom Norrington Davies that I've never heard of - original publish price 14.99 got it for 2.99 and its like new - brilliant book too, loads of good OS recipes/ideas all in one place, down to earth and unponcy writing too.

Got thoroughly blinking soaked whilst out this morning  never mind. Bought goose fat and gorgeous herby sausages from the butchers & some reduced price food bargains in the co op. I did spot a slow cooker that would be ideal for me in Robert Dyas - MR 3.5l, oval brown removable crock etc, 19.99. Unfortunately, when I tried to ask a couple of questions about it, the staff in there as per usual were so clueless, rude and unhelpful that I ended up just walking out of the shop. I treated myself to a Mason Cash mixing bowl instead ( the lovely beige outside white inside ones ) I have plastic bowls but really prefer the sturdy old fashioned sturdy china ones. I do find buying decent cookware gives me more inspiration/incentive for cooking.

Really want to either have a nap now or get cracking with making some dinner but currently waiting for someone to come round and pick up my breadmaker ( mum gave it to me a couple of years back because she didnt use it, I don't either, so thought I would pass it on ) she said she would ring after 4pm to come and pick it up, its 6.30 now ... sigh.
