Mousey my problem is that not just any choc willdo. I can easily resist cadbury's and things like that. My tastes head for the more expensive so bad for my purse and my waist!

Also I find that if I don't have any I can live without it but as soon as I succumb I have to have lots.
  • go on mrs m join me. wont it be great watching the £'s mount up! at least itll be the right sort of pounds!

i must admit i find saying 89lb a bit easier than 6 1/2 stone, possibly because putting it in lbs means others have to translate it and i hope most people wont bother!

youve done so well so far and im sure that weight will keep on going slowly but surely which is the best way to lose it.

  • Evening all :) [/end comedy policeman moment ]

Well done frogga on resisting temptation, wish I'd been able to today :( Hope your tooth and leg are feeling a bit better, MrsM :) and I know what you mean by not feeling daunted... because its in most respects not a task but just the way life is going to be from now on. Grats on the loss debtfree ! and good idea with the pounds for pounds jar - would join if I was weighing meself :) Welcome snoozer, hope you enjoy the thread and find it useful - we won't shout you down when you get chocolate cravings but we will try and distract you with lots of sympathy and support ! mousey - agree with MrsM re veg box persuasions - could add that will mean greater variety to menus due to surprise element and does he really want to be under the thumb of the megamarts all his life ;) I also am a cheeseaholic but am not eating nearly as much as I used to - a 250g block used to last 2 days cos I would just chomp my way through it, now it lasts the week out.

I am not all that happy with myself today. Wish work would stop getting in the way of attempting to eat properly :( really is not bad time management on my part as both jobs, I am on duty for duration for my hours and both are responsive. Today did manage to eat a bowl of cereal around 9am and a slice of rye toast, baked beans and a banana around 11.30, but even they had to be eaten in snatches between answering calls and it evidently wasn't enough, as by 3pm I was ravenous - despite struggling, got off by the nearby co op and bought meat and potato slice ( which smelt appetising but really was not a pleasant eating experience ) giant cheese straw, crisps, bar of chocolate... went home and scoffed the lot... sigh. Result, of course I wake up from my nap feeling like crap, nauseous, horrible indigestion, bloated etc. I'm not just fed up with myself for what I ate, but more the feeling hungry, resentful and reckless with that " sod it, I'll buy everything in the shop I can lay my hands on and eat it " mentality.

I cannot wait for 1pm tomorrow afternoon when I will be free of work for the best part of a week :/

So, supper is going to be the fruit that I would have eaten happily at work to fill myself up if I'd had the time, a bit of cheese and some ricecakes. Michael Palin on t'telly tonight so thats something to look forward to :)

  • Thanks all great suggestions!!! Stay with it Kitty it'll get easier honest. Do you have anywhere at work you can warm something up? I'm up here with Wife Swop as yet more rugby on - hey ho..
I know what you mean snoozer, maybe keep in the fridge so its really hard to break bits off?
I dont know if some of you are in the same boat as me - I'm thinking yeah must be - I'm disabled so exercise (ugh that word) is difficult. I thought of yoga; but its hard to find a class round here (+ the money factor). Someone suggested Aqua Aerobics - so I'm going to ring up about that tommorow. Its run by the council so it should be reasonable. Found out the pool is about 1 mile down the road (had no idea it was there) himself has expressed an interest in going swimming; so may just do that as I remember some of the exercises from water therapy.
  • Thanks Mousey - the problem at both jobs is not with having somewhere to heat food up - weekday job am residential so would use my own kitchen, weekend job we have a kitchen with microwave, 3 tier steamer, sandwich toaster etc - its getting the actual time to eat anything. I have to take food in anyway to weekend job as am lead duty officer and cannot leave to go out and get food. Also because of the nature of the job we cannot actually take specific breaks - basically when its quiet, its quiet, and when its busy you just have to put up with it. Weekday job more or less the same except just have 14 people to be responsible for - but can get called to phone, door etc at any given minute.

    Hi all

Have been catching up with the weeks posts.....god there are so many of them......But well done to those of you who are sticking with it...

Anyway quick update from me, I have been good all week until the weekend. Somehow on Saturday I ended eating only 1 weetabix and two apples all day, don't ask how it happened, bedlam, is all I can say...
Today though I have made up for it eating a packet of crisps (low fat tho) and a mars bar, and a snack pack of mini cookies, and a milkybar:naughty:

Onthe excercise front I have done 30mins (12km) on the excercise bike each mon, wed, thurs, fri and 31/2 hours of Karate over the weekend, so hopefully I have lost a pound or two......

    Mel x

So I will weigh-in tommorrow and see the damage.....
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

    Hi everyone...

    Debtfree.....
I have fetched the spare tin off of my dressing table and it is now sat with the others:D ...Im putting 1 euro in for every 1lb lost...and hubby offered to match it ;) ...and back date it :j ....so when hubby gets some change there will be 45euros in there about £35 :T .... in there....great idea debtfree:rotfl:and all my tins are the ones that you have to tin open..so no sneaking money out for other reasons:D

Those not using the scales, could always save so much for every inch lost :T

Frogga don't worry about it.. they are only numbers..and they are all getting smaller :p .. i wanted..ney..needed to lose 140lb-thats a whole nother person:eek: :rotfl: ..who cares... i now have 117.5lbs to shift :p but hey ho....we will get there...

Kittyscarlett.... how do they get away with not giving you "proper" breaks?? i know that a lot of jobs mean you can't sit down at the same time every day..but you would think that that when you sit down for your break...it should be uninterupted... even if it is at odd times.
That must be a nightmare when trying to eat well....
would it work if you could pack up lots of small bits that you can grab as you are passing..almost bite sized bits?? say a boiled egg, a tortilla wrap..but cut into 1" sized rolls etc.......not ideal i know..but may keep the hunger at bay..plus eating little and often is said to keep the metabolic rate up...
My leg isn't too bad thanks ...hubby has finished using me as a pin cushion and the antibiotics and painkillers are keeping my teeth under control.... i just can't wait to tackle the housework.. i had got into a great routine and its driving me mad at the moment..still a couple more days and i should be up to blitzing again :T

Mousey mousey.. i have a problem with my head ...no comments ladies :p ... which limits what exercise i can do...but i will be honest i do no specific exercise at the moment.. i know myself well enough to know that if i do - i just get hungrier so eat more :rotfl: at the moment im just doing plenty of housework (well when my leg gets better i will be again)... and have started having a bit of a walk... hence the gammy leg :rotfl: ... but i think swimming would be a great idea..especially if your OH is up for it too :T the pool is great for supporting weight, joints etc and i find it really theraputic.

Just pondering.... would your doctor be will to give you a prescription for exercise?? they give you membership to a gym/pool or whatever for so long... you could always ring and ask annonymously (sp)..... and if the say yes..corner your GP...:D

well everyone...keep up the good work...another day is done :D

Hi redmel....nearly missed you  ...good luck with the weigh in tomorrow..will keep my piggies crossed for you:D

Mrs M, it is hard to eat well when you are at someone elses house, though me being a Cancerian I have to admit to having a "stash" of food at my boyfriends house....but my stash consists of sunflower seeds, dried apricots and granola bars. Much better than it used to be...crisps, chocolate, cake, biscuits etc.

Today was a quiet one, I had scrambled egg on wholemeal bread with a tiny slice of cheese and a little tub of currants. Lunch was a fruit salad. Dinner was jacket spud, pork loin steak (trimmed) and lots of sweetcorn (I thought I had carrots, but couldn't find any, so had a little extra sweetcorn instead).

    Hugs to all xx
