Maybe we should be revisiting the thread re WW2 cooking - obesity didn't seem to be an issue then! Not that I'm implying any of us is obese (tho' I seem to be veering that way!), but maybe rationing is the answer!
For me it really is a need to do proper portion control. Don't like ready meals (never enough and also tasteless) so cooking is from scratch - thanks to DH - but I never know when to stop.0 -
I was gobsmacked to see I'd lost a pound :j :j :j
Amazing considering I ate (almost) a box of chocs:o
Well done to everyone else whose lost:A
I've not got a good day today, buffet lunch at work for a retirement, out with the girls after work for a drink or 2  then meeting OH (I persuaded him to come and drive me home!!) so that will probably mean a curry or pizza for tea/supper
I will be back on track tomorrow though, I've just done my meal plans for next week and signed up for the grocery challenge so I will spend tomorrow restocking the freezer with my meals for next week.0 -
Well done Rockie!
you loser you! Good luck and well done to everyone else
This club is really motivating me!
Had a good few days, mainly just eating smaller portions and have small healthy snacks inbetween. I'm terrible for fogetting to eat for ages, realising i'm starving and then pigging out. I got a little tuppaware box for 25p at asda and filled it with dried mixed fruit to have in my handbag, have also stashed a cereal bar in there and some in the glovebox of the car so i'm not tempted to buy crisps.
Going out for dinner with my sis today but will have something with salad and maybe chicken so not too high in cals but also enough to fill me up. I find having soup to start with helps, as long as its not a creamy type. Tonight's tea is HM burgers, potato wedges and salad so i'll have the burger without the bun, few wedges and fill up on salad. Have just had a smoothie for breakfast as not too hungry and saving myself for dinnertime
Oh and made tomato and lentil soup in my slowcooker yesterday, was delish if i say so myself, even DD ate it  have frozen the rest and am planning on making carrot and coriander today to freeze as my gran has given me a bag of carrots.
(((hugs))) to all

Hi Everyone - well done to Mrs Macawber and Rockie on your good weight losses!
I resisted the urge to overeat last night and so felt more motivated than ever this morning. I had 3 ryvitas with extra light Philadelphia on for breakfast, but then I had to take DD2 to school (16 miles away) again because she wouldn't get up in time to make the train:mad: On the way back I passed a newly opened huge M&S Simply Food and just had to have a little browse- ooh it was lovely in there! I bought some stuff which I didn't intend to but at one point I had all kinds in my trolley - I got all carried away - but then I went and put most of it back and just bought some nice salad bags (not OS I know but think what I am saving by not buying and eating junk;) ) and a half a cooked chicken which I just love but never have, to have for my lunch, along with some bottles of their fizzy water with mexican lime. I think I will make that a little treat every Friday - if I stick with my plan for the week, then I will "reward" myself with a little healthy M&S treat for my lunch.
I have turkey steaks for tea with sprouts, green beans and a bag of steam veg from marks - courgette, leek and sugar snap peas.
Tomorrow I have an Aunt coming to visit and she is such a b**ch - She only comes rarely and never stays too long but while she is here her eyes are everywhere and I can see her looking for dust and stuff, so when I got back I washed all the paintwork down in the hall, changed the fish and then really scrubbed the kitchen. I will do the lounge, front room and conservatory later, or in the morning. I hope she doesn't stress me out too much - she loves to make barbed comments about OH running off with the glamorous footballer's wife and go on about how beautiful she is and how the house they live in is like a mansion etc etc (the footballer's wife not herself) -she's actually ex OH's aunt not mine too! Sometimes when she comes I end up bingeing when she's gone so I will just have to try and come straight on here when she goes tomorrow - she always brings gifts for the children but I never get anything - same at Christmas or on birthdays...grrrr...
Anyway back to the subject at hand! sorry that some of you are struggling, but TBH the stuff you all have posted about eating is not actually that bad - so just carry on trying to make healthier choices and I'm sure you will be fine - I know I keep saying it but it really is one day at a time.
BTW Frogga - I saw the advert for the Tudors last night and it looks great - can't wait!Jane

Hello everyone:D
Just checking in.....weighed myself at the gym yesterday and at home and it looks like ive lost 8lbs so far!:j in 4 weeks so am quite pleased with that!
and I havent started dieting yet - just doing lots more exercise at the gym 3 times a week. If I start cutting down abit more I would lose alot more like Taplady!!
Mainly I have been sticking to breakfast, lunch (sandwich & fruit) and then usual dinner so far - but have cut out loads of HM cakes & biscuits I used to have with a cuppa!!:D
My target was 2 stone to lose, so 1.1/2 to go!!:o
Good luck to everyone:T0 -
Congratulations on the losses shez n rockie...and anyone else out there:T
Recovering spendaholic
Gald you are full of motivation today :T ...and well done on showing restraint in M+S :A .... i think that sounds like a good plan... we all need a treat now n then.... and M+S do some lovely stuff... not exactly OS as you say but some of their sandwiches mmmmmmmm and thats the "healthier ones"...,
Regarding the AUNT ..have you ever been tempted to let the dust build up and write "nosey" in it :rotfl: ..well she wouldn't dare mention it would she;) Hope you have a nice healthy treat put on one side for yourself - for when she has gone.... don't give her the satisfaction of making you eat stuff you don't want.....just cos she has got on your t*ts
lilmisskitkat, hope you enjoy your meal out....planning what to have before you go...very controlled:D .... i always used to start by looking at the puddings on a menu and deciding what i was having in reverse....
Have a great day rockie... 1 day isn't the end of the world is it...

I cant say that im using "ration portions", but i agree.. im cooking all the old meals my mum used to and feel so much better and im using lard, butter and the cheap cuts of meat , and eating smaller quantities and in better proportions- only wish i had figured this out years ago
Odds.... my hubby loves pistatio nuts... i'm far to impatient to try and get the little blighters out of their shells-they end up ricochetting(sp)all over the place...bet that was fun in the cinema :rotfl:
Taplady.... i won't part with butter either... low fat spread eeeewwww..
Im gonna have to make some more soups.... hubby adores the HM chicken n sweet corn one, and i have some veg ones in the freezer..but think i need to keep a batch in the fridge... i keep ending up with sesame ryvitas and various toppings!!!
Debtfree... i have to weigh weekly.. if i had to go a month, i would be prone to overeating for the first 2 weeks, and then half starving to catch up for the last 2.. at least im aware of my nasty habbits now;)
Newlywed...hope the recipe goes down well.... will post another tomorrow
its so nice to have lots of variation isnt it....stops the boredom and the feeling that we are missing something...thats why i like the recipes i have for some "take away" alternatives..
Kittyscarlett.... im a, sorry was...a carbohydrate junky:p ... our whole family is the same .... bread especially:eek: ..and i used to have a real problem..but since i have cut down..i probably average 2-4 slices of HM bread a week now.... and i am satisfied with 2 slices of toast (with butter;) ) and i try to make sure that i have it for brekkie, and then eat less carbs in the evening...not cutting them out though:eek: .....like tonight we are having HM steak n mushroom pie with loads of veg and i will do hubby a couple of new pots..but i won't bother as im getting the pastry! and have lost that pac man mentality.... although i now slice n freeze the bread in 2s as soon as its cold....just in case:D .... and i have stopped bloating too :j
Floyd... there are plenty of healthier options from the take away....and sometime only a take away will do won't it:D and well done on resisting the profiter rolls..not an easy task:D
This is it... hope you feel a little better soon... make allowances for yourself.... that time of the month can play havock(sp)...with eating can't it... im lucky that it doesn't affect me.like that....mind you the only symptom i do get is a burning knot feeling behind my shoulder blade...which makes no sense...but according to my hubby it just proves what he has known all along - "that i am wired up wrong":rotfl: i have found though that since starting to eat OS this last few weeks.. that department is a whole lot easier :T
Hello frogga for later..waiting to catch up on your latest escapades, and morall boosting words:D
well i think i have caught up with you all..pheeeewww... sorry if i have missed anyone..and i bet someone has posted whilst i have been typing:rolleyes:
And well done to those stil awake after reading my ramblings:D

To be honest, I get bored of cooking the same thing, more than eating it
All new recipes are a bonus - anything that gives inspiration and makes you feel like you've had a "treat" of some kind!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
You are all doing very well.....mostly;)
I have been very os weightwatching........
In 2 weeks I have only eaten 1 packet of crisps and 2 mars bars(totm)-unhealthy foodwise.
My main diet has consisted of weetabix - breakfast, salad - lunch and ony fruit in between, somedays i have eaten 2 apples and 2 bananas in between meals but I have to keep the hunger away or I will be tempted towards the stodgy stuff:eek:
I will weigh-in on monday but am feeling quietly confident:silenced:

Hi everyone.
Hope everyone is having a nice day. Isn't it miserable outside? It just makes me want to have lots of mash or something like that. I tried to get the motivation up to exercise today but it just wasn't there. I did do my exercises the physio has recommended for my knee though.
So far today I've had:
Brunch - Vegetable soup, I added the beans from my chilli beans to this and it was nice and filling.
Late lunch - A small plate of pasta with pesto sauce and a fillet of smoked mackerel.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0
