Hi spendaholic
I love mushy peas mmmm with mint sauce...
just think of all those extra calories you are burning by walking backwards n forwards to the fridge:rotfl: .... keep my fruit and veg down in the cold room in the cellar, and the spare fridge n freezer.... so i have to go down a flight of steps to get anything...still stops me grabbing things absent mindedly..which im sure lots of us do;)
Well done on the shop:T ... its amazing how much you can save by cooking OS isn't it.... and as we know... if it isn't in the house "we can't eat it":p .. i always found morrisons brilliant for bogofs... i know a lot of people say they are mainly proccessed stuff... but if you are careful with your choices its a great place to shop....
I think you are doing right by thinking "one day at a time" i just think "ok today im making sensible choices" and i get through without noticing it (mostly)... and go to bed thinking -thats another day gone, and then i start all over again when i wake up again. I have a good 8 stone to shift..not including what i have allready lost:eek: ...... but this time is the first time that i know i can do it.... as you say - 1 day at a time:T
Keep up the good work everyone... i have un earthed loads of recipes, so i think i will start posting one with my morning post .... weigh day tomorrow:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
OK folks,
Confession, they say, is good for the soul...mine will be so shiny after this...I have been finding it so hard to motivate myself to go with watching what I eat and doing some meaningful exercise that I have just given up...even worse have started baking cakes again and eating them...not sure what the problem is as I am unaware of any extra stress..just seem totally incapable of controlling what I eat...ate have a victoria sponge in an hour the other day and would have eaten more if it were there.
Feel as if I have put on a stone rather than lost any weight...ready to burst into tears at the thought....double chin is now treble and spare tyre is heading for lorry size.
Hoping that confession will do the trick...if anyone is nice to me on the subject will probably collapse, so positive vibes please!!
Marie

Hi there Meanmarie
Vixtress is sooo right we have all been there before - i used to call it my pringle moment.... the add says "once you pop you can't stop" mine was more " i ain't going to stop until i pop"....and im allready ahead of you.. my spare tyre is allready TRACTOR sized....
You will be fine.. i think vixtress may be spot on with not having baking goodies in the house!!! I sometimes wish that i couldn't cook and worse of all - didn't like cooking.. but i am a foody through n through..... thats why OS suits me.... im cooking all the old faves... so i still get to cook/bake, but freezing it in portion sizes as soon as its cold.... Not sure i would manage that with a victoria sandwich though:rolleyes:
Start tomorrow all over again...and be kind to yourself.... no cutting right back to try and "make up" for what you have eaten today..
If ever you need to distract yourself -or just want to let off steam.. please feel free to PM me.... im not delicate...curse away- and that goes for everyone else too!!
I hope that we can be of some help and support to you on here - afterall we are all in this together... and we will al get there.....
Sending you heaps of positive thoughts n hugs-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

ooh yes please. Always looking for more healthy recipes - this place has saved me sooooo much money that I would have spent on (mostly unused) recipe books!!!
My favourite recipe book is my folder with plastic pockets full of recipes from OS board - and at the end of the month I'm always on here looking for things to make the final stuff in my cupboard seem more appealingworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I have the "I've blown it so I'll just keep on eating and eating" Mentality too and I know so well the despair you describe at the size of your chin and spare tyre. My spare tyre is not as bad as my rear end - it is, as my Dad used to say, "like the back end of a taxi with the doors open!" - I can easily eat a whole cake and I hate the bloated heavy feeling you are left with so now I just don't start and try not to have any goodies in the house, though that is hard with two DD's and an ex husband who thinks that he has to bring carrier bags full of goodies whenever he comes round.
Don't despair - just try and take it one day, or even half a day, at a time. That is what I am doing and I find it easier that way.
Yesterday someone gave me 6:eek: Costa Coffee muffins as a gift so I took them with me to my hairdressers appointment. The girl who does my hair, who is a size 8 blonde supermodel type, ate three of them straight off. Then she said " Oh it doesn't bother me I'll just be good for the rest of the day" How I wished I had had that attitude when I was the same size as her, instead of carrying on to eat enough to feed a small emergent nation......
Also, keep reading through this thread - I have found it a wonderful help this week.Jane

MeanMarie ~ hi Granxxxx
You've been here for me SO many times and so now it's my turn.
So you ate a sponge cake? So bloody what!!! You didn't hurt anyone did you , there are worse things we could do than be a bit piggy every once in a while! Everyone does it , you just have to say " right I've had fun , I really enjoyed the cake , it was yummy. Now it's gone and I'm back on track."
My therapist used to actually encourage me to PLAN a binge every now and again. If you give youself permission to do it , well , there's no fun. It's not naughty. You're allowed to stuff as much as you like. Then I kind of thought " well , I can have what I like if I want to , but I don't think I'll bother.":T
Stop beating youself up about it, in the grand scheme of life it's SO unimportant. Now you've got it all off your chest , just get back on board the wagon and continue on the journey. You'll see us all on the way, I'm the one in the layby stopping for a wee:rotfl:Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Cool, thanks. Something interesting with fish? I often do a fish pie, or grilled fish with parsley sauce or my made up sauce I put on here. Have lots of (cheap) Pollock (?) in the freezer which is just thin, fillets of white fish = boring!!
Or something else to use prawns with - I do stir fry, omelette or risotto with them.
Ooooohhh anything low fat really- OH isn't fussy and eats almost everything he's given if it's low fat (but he doesn't like trout)
I love food!! But I have no slow cooker (yet) and work full time so if it takes 3 hours to cook then it has to be done on a weekend!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Just found this thread, how exciting!
For anyone who loves their burgers (like I do!) I have a great recipe for a healthy burger which also makes the meat go further so it's cheaper too (great for students like me as well)! I've never been one for exact measurements so I'll approximate but just make it up as you go along really!
Ingredients: (makes approx. 6 burgers)
500g lean beef mince
1/2 a large onion
5 medium sized mushrooms or 3 of those really big ones
zest of one lemon and the juice of a large wedge of it
1 egg
2 mugs worth approx. (told you i dont do measurements!) of porridge oats
parsley
sage
black pepper
worcestershire sauce
ketchup
any other yummy herbs you've got in the garden!
Finely chop the onion and chuck in a bowl with the beef mince. Finely chop the mushrooms into the tiniest pieces you can manage (it might take a while!) and chuck those in with every thing else, making sure you chop up the fresh herbs. Be really generous with the seasoning, it really makes a difference. Combine thoroughly by squishing it all with your hands until it all holds together nicely. If it's looking a bit crumbly then squeeze some more ketchup in, trust me, even if you hate ketchup it really makes the burgers taste lovely. Shape into patties and grill for about 12 mins, turning halfway through cooking. I like to wrap mine in sweet romaine lettuce instead of a bun to lower the carb count as well. I also like them with squished up avocado instead of mayo.
Give it a try even if you dont like mushrooms because honestly, you can't taste them. My sister is the fussiest eater in the world and wouldnt touch half those ingredients if her life depended on it but she loves these!
