    Hi again,
    Thanks for the warm welcome:)
I am starting tomorrow (that old one eh!) and in preparation have made two great big pans of soup. I get bored of sandwiches for work lunches and I will set my alarm half an hour early and take a little walk before work, it will be a nice blow through, wake me up and get my blood pumping round:rolleyes:
I am going to attempt the 8 glasses of water a day thing mainly because a friend who does it has such great vibrant looking skin- thats always got to be a good thing... I'll let you know if I'm less grey!
Is there a recipe link for this thread? Flicking through there are some great recipes but I can not find the link :o
I'm not sure how often to weigh myself yet maybe fortnightly if I can handle the suspense.
    Good luck ladies

Well dinner eaten and wasn't left feeling hungry, in fact there was a teensy bit of mash and a few veg left for the dogs. I did fill my plate maybe more than I should but did so with sprouts and carrots :D I am the only one in the house who likes sprouts and had half a bag that needed using. Treat changed from mince pie to choccy roll as was a bit left which needed using sooner than the pies.

:o So pleased I'm not the only one who has realised the portion size is the issue, 'ma larkin' sizes just about sums it up. My partner looked mortified when I said there was just 2 sausages each (he's very much a carnivore but also needs to loose weight!!) but then still left some of his dinner, just goes to show neither of us missed the extra one.

Off to search for inspiration for tomorrow....
One day I might be more organised...........

Hi, I'd like to join in too. I've actually been lurking since the thread started, being convinced I could go it alone. However, I now weigh more than I did in September so obviously can't. I weigh 11stone 8lbs but am only 5 foot tall so definitely on the rotund size. I'd like to lose at least 2 stone, maybe 2 and a half. I shall be 50 in May so want to have lost at least the 2 stone by then - which should be do-able if I keep at it.

I had a good start today even though I went to friends for lunch. I gave my partner all my potatoes and filled up on vegetables instead. I then had fresh fruit salad instead of Christmas pudding for dessert. I've decided to give up chocolate for the time being (till the end of April is the current goal) so gave away all my boxes of chocolates yesterday.

So, one day down and here's hoping I have a weight loss to report next week.

Now that my DDs are in bed, I find this is the hardest time to resist temptation, and usually head for the calorific stuff at this point., however, I know I have to change this bad habit so have brushed my teeth already and must not go in the kitchen - at all:D

Have had a good day today actually, although it's only the first day - and I've always believed day three is the test!

I'm going to post on here everyday if I can - probably nonsense - but I've enjoyed sharing today's start and reading everyone else's plans.

with the 8 glasses of water a day idea, i find it really hard. i loose count, or dont bother because im not thirsty etc.

stick it in a sports topped bottle however, and i can drink it by the gallon  especially if its just sat there in front of me. a 750ml or 1 litre bottle should be a good start and will get you well on the way towards your 8 a day quota (coming in at around half to two thirds of your RDA). and you can refill the bottle with council pop from the tap... bargain!

As predicted, dinner was calorie laden....all delicious too. Had prawn cocktail for starter, with just a small piece of bread, then roast beef, carrots, sweetcorn, peas, stuffing, roast and mashed potatoes...with a good knob of butter. Finished off with two (OUCH!) helpings of black forest gateau and coffee. In my defence, I ate slowly, drank only one glass of wine and a pint of water, so didn't get that stuffed feeling I could have had...have had another glass of water since coming home and will go to bed soon with yet another glass...reckon it is needed to flush out toxins, get fibre through the system and help the skin...the loo run is a problem I agree, especially as we removed the utility room loo just before Christmas and I have to run upstairs...am hoping that it will count as some exercise!

    Night all

thought i should add.. will be halfheartedly joining in, in a bid to stop the love handles from developing any further, and to make me take another look at what i am fuelling my body with. i am looking forward to the end of the week, by which time the temptation-laden treat stuff should all be gone. it is much easier being virtuous when temptation isnt there!

new years resolutions are multifaceted but pretty much all boil down to taking better care of myself. which includes eating better (including breakfast), drinking more water, getting back to the exercise, and get enough sleep. i must be good, i MUST be good, i MUST...

Phew - made it through Day 1. I managed to stick to the meals I had decided upon earlier so it feels like a real achievement.:T
Also had a very busy day decluttering my bedroom. I am very ruthless about getting rid of things if they aren't used....keeps my OH on his toes anyway :D however, I was still amazed by how much stuff I managed to clear out. Put one lot on Freecycle, another 2 boxes are earmarked for the charity shop and there was another bag full of rubbish! I now have the bonus of opening drawers and cupboards and seeing everything all neat and tidy.

Have spent the evening cooking soup and shepherds pie for tomorrow and now I have half an hour to catch up on MSE. Hope everyone is doing well too.
  • Think the water thing might include the water used in tea and coffee as well. If you are eating more fruit/veg and soup that will increase your fluid intake

MRS M would be good to see what your menu plans look like. Have been menu planning for quite a few weeks now to save on shopping bill, any new ideas would be good!!
