Happy New Year, everyone! Having "missed" our traditional Christmas fare whilst we were away we've had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon for breakfast and will be tucking into turkey for a (very) late lunch, so for us the turkey soup is still on the horizon! However, none of the usual nuts/chocolates/mince-pies to snack on, so hopefully won't be putting on the 4lbs I lost whilst away.
Am going to try really hard this year not to obsess over weighing too frequently, and just stick to smaller portions of proper food.Resolution:

I have found through all my many many years of going to slimming clubs and following diet plans that A- all I lost was £'s not lbs and B- any weight that did come off went straight back on again with a few more lbs to keep it company.:eek:Too true.I keep losing weight
but it keeps finding me!Pipkin xxxxThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Happy New Year everyone!
So here we go, a new year and one full of possibilities. We are all going to manage some weight-loss and save money to boot this year.
I have the ham I got from Mr T (reduced a few weeks ago, then frozen) on the boil at the moment. The boiling water will make a good soup later (going to the market late in the day tomorrow and buy reduced veg for soup, and eating). We will have the ham hot today and some in a souffl! tomorrow. There should be enough for a few days' sandwiches and some for pasta and cheese sauce at the end of the week...got to sneak it in somehow!
Saw the New Year in but only just, still suffering form the lergy, now DH is coming down with it, poor thing.
That's enough nattering, must get out and do some gardening...haven't done anything for ages due to work, weather and illness, it looks such a mess at the moment! At least any work done will make a difference! :rotfl::rotfl:
So food today:
Breakfast: Muesli, soya milk and OJ
Break: Fruit
Lunch: Toasted tom + cheese sandwich
Break: 1 piece of HM flapjack
Tea: Boiled ham, mashed tatties, cabbage and sprouts
Break: Possibly nothing, but have sugar-free jelly on stand-by!
Off to the garden, good luck everyone!

My targets for the year are to get to my target - not far to go now:j and then to stop there long term which is going to be hard I think! but I'm sure you lot will keep me going!:T I also am going to try and get more exercise - aim to walk everywhere within reason - cant walk to work as its 10 miles.
Thanks to you all for the continuing support especially Frogga and MRSMCAWBER:T:T:T
Food plans for today are
B - muesli
L - jacket spud with cheese and salad
satsuma or 2
D - roast veggies, yorkshire pud and roast spuds.
low fat yophurt.
Good luck to everone just starting out! and all those still on their journey!
Take care xxxxDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning everyone, and a very happy new year. Hope the hangovers are clearing!
Haven't eaten yet, but about to have an Asda Good for you breakfast bar (70 cals each, 79p for 5).
Was eating muesli with HM yoghurt every morning but yoghurt making has slipped over xmas, so i've just put some on and can start that again from tomorrow.
Having a batch cooking day today with all the reduced goodies I got in Asda yesterday - sausage casserole, moussaka, beef in red wine, bubble & squeak, all made the low fat way.
Made Nigellas lemon icecream yesterday to use up the fresh cream, very lush & fattening so will be rationing that for treats.
Back to work tomorrow so will make soup with all the carrots & parsnips left in the fridge to take for lunches.
Feeling really strong willed and positive now!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
Hi all and Happy New Year!
My food yesterday
Breakfast: Porridge with seeds & maple syrup
Lunch (in town with my son): felafel with salad (very proud of myself, I ate loads of salads in the help-yourself-bar, 3 felafel, tasted 2 chips from my son's and LEFT THE PITA BREAD!!!).
Dinner: Indian meal with family at restaurant: half popadom with pickles, small starter of steamed dumplings with veg (a Nepalese speciality), a taste of someone else's paneer, 2 small pieces of nan bread, steamed rice and a few shares from a mix of veg side dishes - tap water to drink.
Then back home, could so not be bothered to go out with friends to see the fireworks as I had walked all day in London, so stayed with my darling husband, watching Jools Holland on TV and drinking (me: tea, him: champagne (which one of our friends had brought and opened here after the indian meal) - good for some huh? LOL). I had a piece of fruit cake, but I sooooooo forgive myself for that, since I feel I have been so well behaved and controlled up to then!
I am totally convinced that going teetotaller is the right thing for me, this morning I woke up with a clear head and happy to meet the loveliness of a brand new year ahead, who needs hangovers?
My DH just made me a breakfast of chopped fruit, yoghurt and seeds and I am feling positive, getting ready to go for a walk, hoping you all are having a good day and see you later!
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi,
I'd like to join you if thats ok- I'm hoping to last more than a week or two
I'm 45 busy, busy, busy, with full time job, gorgeous demanding kids but sometimes if I'm honest i am a bit lonely
So much I'd like to do in 2008, pay off some debts, teach my kids to be independent and responsible young people, put myself further up my list of priorities, get fitter and lose weight... with no pressure, forgiving friends and frugally
I look forward to getting to know you

Afternoon everyone,
And well done to our slimmers of the year Taplady & MrsM ! :T
I noticed that they did this with the help of Frogga's challenge so I think she deserves a :T , too.
Didn't have the chips dilemma last night because they were all shut.Kids settled for sweets from the garage, I succumbed to a big bag of Walkers S & V, but no big deal.
Mum and dad arrived with cakes today. Quickly offered them buttered bara brith, which they loved and meant I didn't have so much left, and OH & sons obligingly scoffed the bakewells after they'd gone. I'll have the last laugh when they have to do my first 'housey job' when I've lost my first 7lbs.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
