    Good morning all,

News not good here....pound I lost last week back on...with another to keep it company!

I want to run screaming somewhere, but really it is down to me and if I don't watch what I eat (like the two muffins I had last night before bed!) I won't lose. I know exactly what I need to do..up my water consumption and veggie servings and stop baking...why can't I do it??

    Congratulations Mrs MCC.

Frogga, I would let Tadpole pay for some of kit...as others have said, it will make her feel less guilty and lift your burden a little.

Have a good day all...it is as dark here as if it were 4pm, will have to turn on light in a minute...which I hate during the day

Hi everyone, I've steadily lost 25lb in around 10 weeks and I've been lurking on here for ages selfishly taking advantage of all of your hints and tips while offering nothing back! I've got my own hints and tips and wonder if you might find them useful too, it's about time I did my bit in return. They're just things that have worked for me but might ring a bell with someone else too, nothing very new or rocket science. When I typed them all out it came to nearly 2 pages in Word so should I split them between several postings, or just send them to anyone interested. Thanks

The PE kit has been found! Horay! :j :j
It was found on the bus! I had phoned them last night and a very unhelpful man said it hadn't been handed in . This morning I phoned again and a very helpful lady said she would investigate. She traced exactly which bus it was and looked herself and there it was! Phew, Holly will be so chuffed. the thing that upset her the most was loosing the bag ~ I made it for her when she was in reception and it was purple with little buterflys on it. She was crying last night sayin her bag would be cold and lonely on the bus! Silly fool!:rotfl: Tadpoles eh?

Bobadog ~ yuck yogurt covered raisins!

elljay ~ post them all now! Some of us need all the help we can get, don't worry about long posts , you should read MrsM 's!:rotfl:

Box of pasta..."no, not heavy"...... that item.."no not heavy" and on i went... got to the checkout..bagged it up (in 2 special trolley bags:o ) and then decided was very bl**dy heavy :rotfl: ...... staggered home like a contestant of the worlds strongest man :rotfl: huffing n puffin - get to the end of my street and the sodding car is there as hubby has been sent home  could have flippin phoned him-still i made it back -3 hours walking in total  ... my shoulders are still shaking :p 17 kilo it blummin weighed... which again bought it home to me that i have lost more than that.... but i WILL in future watch what i throw in my trolley :D
Right..got that out of my system....

How are all you lovely ladies ?

frogga will be happy to find the site on again..had an email from her saying it was down ....hope you are allright Mrs..have emailed you :D

Kittyscarlett... hope you have had a lovely day out.. sounds very nice... especially the bacon sandwich ;) ...proper old fashioned bacon that doesn't give off horrid white scummy stuff mind :D

That is just like my hubby taplady... he very rarely touches fruit but would live on salads n veggies....
Looking at your food for today..i could come and live with you ..yummy :D

My ruppert was an Irish racing champ..he slipped on track and damaged his pelvis..and his owner had him treated as he had earnt him so much and had such a lovely nature.... he I first had him he was so scared of everything... hated noise... had been trained not to take food off anyone... and after 4 days i forgot i had him, didn't shut the door properly when i went to the bin and he escaped.... and straight down the white line of the road he went  i soon learnt just how fast he could go:rolleyes: .... me in pursuit..bare foot , in the rain, cursing like a trooper :rotfl: .... i yelled for this woman to grab him (when he decided to stop for a wee)... and she screamed and scared him off... luckily a work man grabbed him :T -as he was heading straight for a huge junction  .. when i stomped back past the stupid woman with her stupid massive dog, she had the brass neck to say "you should keep him on a lead - i thought he was going to attack me" you can imagine the abuse she got... and i looked at my feet and said " yep i often take my dog out ..in the rain with no lead, no coat or shoes on"....and if your dog sat on mine it would kill him :rotfl:
It was horrid having to rehouse him..but the place we took him to was stunning ..so we knew he would be happy :T hubby would have him back in a shot.. me too actually

Rockie4... :T on the loss... its all that just suiting yourself, eating what you want and pampering yourself whilst OH.. had a hissy fit ;) ..... told you it was better than bottling it up -don't tell your OH that I said that though :rotfl: .. oh and im soo glad he popped back out of his mood again :D

Meanmarie.... hugs coming your way... my mum has just the same struggle... she will lose a bit.. gain it, stay the same..lose a bit... it drives her nuts... and its not as if she eats a lot either bless her. She is back at WW with 1 of my sisters.... she has been at goal before but really struggles to maintain... its horrible isn't it!!! She tends to lose when she stays with us.. i think its because she eats more variety, and that includes goodies too...

Come on elljay... spill the beans ;) ...just jump on and join in ... don't worry about long posts.... im famous for rambling on endlessly :rotfl:

Horray for the PE kit!!! :T

I've lost another 2lb this week. Which is impressive considering I've been a right lazy bum all week! Well done to everyone else whos lost and don't worry everyone who hasn't you'll get there :j

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments on my christmassy bits :D

I actually struggled to finish two weetabix this morning! I usually manage two easily, hopefully a sign my stomach is shrinking. Had some of the left over stir fry from last nights tea for lunch. I did pop up the shop and with sis and get chocolate tho :o Although my small aero looked like nothing compared to what she had...I don't know where she puts it all! Tea tonight is going to be pork curry I think.

Right, must go and finish buying beads and then make sisters bf a birthday card. TTFN

well, if you're sure - I do ramble on a bit - I'd be interested in anyone's views - and I'm so pleased the PE kit has been found...

    Hints and tips

Bean sprouts. You can sprout these yourself on the windowsill, I use mung beans, takes about a week so have a couple of lots on the go at one time. A couple of handfuls is only 25 calories and they bulk up anything, stir fries, casseroles etc and make you feel as though you're having a huge plateful. Also chock full of nutrition.

Baked beans. A couple of spoonfuls for lunch or breakfast if you can take it, with an oatcake (see below) will stick to your ribs for hours, full of protein, count as one portion of veg and low in calories/fat. Also great in casseroles etc as are all the pulses. And cheap!

Oatcake – I saw this on celebrity slimmers and had a go at making my own. Absolutely brilliant, tastes good, filling and goes with lots of different toppings, or even just Marmite! Good toast substitute. Mix with seeds/nuts – wow! Mine is much smaller than the one on tv though! For breakfast its lighter than porridge which I find too heavy at that time of day.

Don't buy what you don't want to eat – this is probably easier for me as I live alone but I know if I buy something I'll eat it pretty quickly so although there may be relatively few calories in a single twix bar what do you do with the rest of the packet? I know myself well enough that if it's in the cupboard I'll eat it probably within the day, I can't keep it intending to have one a day. This applies to lots of other things too, eg bread, if I need some for visitors I'll buy individual rolls. A loaf is disastrous as I'll eat toast at any time of day or night so for now my lovely breadmaker is redundant. Similarly cheese and other things, buy what you need for a recipe because if the rest of a packet is in the fridge I know I'll just nibble it. To me this goes against the grain as it's much better value to buy bigger packs of anything, but the leftover will just go into the dustbin ie my stomach so it's less wasteful to buy exactly the amount I need. How some of you have a couple of squares of chocolate and leave the rest in the cupboard for another day beats me, for me it has to be all or nothing!

Use a smaller plate. I know all diet books go on about this and I've thought it ridiculous, after all, I'd still know it was a smaller plate and just think I'm ok having 2 helpings instead, can't con my mind like that. In fact my mind is thoroughly conned! I use a medium sized plate at home (is it called a breakfast plate? Not sure) and now if I'm eating out, the plates seem ridiculously huge and put me off the food. It also means that, as last night, I made too much veg casserole and really wanted an extra helping cos it was so delicious, I could have it and still probably had a smaller portion than other people.

Laziness! I'm the laziest person I know. I was brought up to 'use your head to save your legs' – an OS saying if ever there was. So I'm conditioned for example to collect things on the stairs and take them all up at once. Saving my legs! Now every time I feel myself thinking like that I deliberately take things upstairs individually .The other thing is the 'can't be bothered right now' illness which I suffer from, eg can't be bothered taking rubbish or dog out, it's raining, I'll go later, etc etc. Every time the 'can't be bothered' thought comes into my head I've conditioned myself to be bothered. It's annoying sometimes as I can't use excuses without my head telling me 'do it, do it, do it'! So I just have to do it! Brainwashing is a wonderful thing but it's also meant I've done lots of things like clear out the junk-filled back bedroom, kitchen drawers etc, all of which were going to be done one day. So I've decluttered and burnt calories at the same time, and my brainwashed brain is happy!

Use your favourite food as a motivation. Diet books tell you to promise yourself a non-food treat when you reach target milestones, such as a new mascara or day out or something and to never use food. However for me those things don't inspire me at all. But treat food does. But not just a bite sized milky way for goodness sake, my thing is fish and chips from my fave chip shop. So I decided that when I reached 14 stone I would have fish and chips in paper from the shop and eat every scrap! I got down to 14 st with the thought of those chips dangling just out of reach and one day I went and got them. How yummy they were, no guilt or anything! Now the target is 13 st and I will probably have those next Friday. This for me is a real motivation and doesn't seem to make the slightest difference to my weight loss.

Caffeine. Lots of diet and detox books tell you to cut out coffee. However for me it's a really useful drug/tool! It warms me up when I feel cold, and really seems to boost my metabolic rate at times when I might want to turn to comfort food. I'm not talking about more than a few cups a day, just don't cut out what you'd normally have because diet books say so.

Bedtime scrunches. My stomach is the main bit that isn't really going away so scrunches are the answer apparently. I'm hopeless at getting down on the floor to exercise so when I get into bed I do 20 each of straight and sideways scrunches and then the same again in the morning. It's warm and cosy and while maybe not quite as effective as doing them on a hard floor it's working for me, and my tum and the bit under my boobs is really beginning to tighten up.

When you're bulk cooking, cool down what you're not eating immediately and freeze quickly. I know if I cook something then leave it on the side to cool for a couple of hours before freezing I'll keep dipping in for a spoonful now and then, even when it's only lukewarm. So now I put the pan outside on the garden table to cool really quickly, then pack into individual, slightly on the small size portions and freeze. When it's defrosted I can always add more water or veg to bulk it up if I want. That way I don't keep having the odd spoonful till there's hardly any left to freeze!

Highlights chocolate drink or similar. This is great as a comfort drink but if I have a real need for a choc fix I find half a teaspoonful of highlights mixture dry gives me quite a good chocolate hit. Sweet and chocolatey and sickly! Probably pretty disgusting but not as disgusting as wobbly bits hanging out of a bikini!

Breakfast. My preferred breakfast is several different types of fruit with a couple of spoons of mullerlight vanilla yoghurt. I'm not a great fruit eater but this is lovely and makes me feel as though I've had most of my 5 a day in one go and can feel the vitamins coursing through my veins (that brainwashing again!!) Top with chopped nuts and seeds if you can be bothered. Grating an apple makes for a miles bigger bowlful and seems to have a different taste - mmm, yummy!

Thanks for your patience - Liz

Thanks Frogga. Nothing like exposing your weaknesses is there - can't believe I own up to eating lukewarm stews waiting to be frozen or Highlights powder. Please someone tell me I'm not the only one!
