    Hya Folks

At last I have managed to get onto the forum...must have been mid-last week since I last posted. :o
Well I have lost only 1 pound this week ...but better off than on! :j I ate reasonably well, but didn't do as much exercise as I probably should have.

Had a busy weekend working in the garden, making up my neighbour's winter hanging baskets and doing lots of baking and cooking.

Got a hare from the butchers on Saturday...apparently the butcher thought I "was a woman of the land" (!) and would appreciate a lovely big hare. Sorry all you veggies , but it casseroled up very well. I managed to get two lots of meals for 4 of us as well as stock for soup. My youngest was a bit wary, but loved it..."like duck"! :D

I also made a mega-batch of spag bol and some soup. I made 3 quiches last night...only one left to go in the freezer! Then to the baking: 2 dozen each of choccie buns and sultana buns; a tray of flapjacks and 60-odd sugar-free oat biscuits. That should do my teenage boys for a day or two!:A

I have to confess now...I pigged out yesterday...still feeling a bit low today, but will work it out.:(

Work was going well, despite holding my own for 4 hours tutoring as my colleague was off sick and the boss was out too. The tutor who came in at one could only find fault with me. I was helping one of our students tidy up her papers and get her coat on as she has a broken arm, so she and her friend left by 1:07. My colleague then laid into me at running over into my break! When I mentioned the student's injury, she said that the student shouldn't have come in! I should have fought my corner, but I was so gob-smacked and tired that I just left...and had a weep in the loo.

Looking back I should have stood my ground and argued that actually I finished @1 so it was my own time that I was using, and weren't we supposed to be helping our students???

So I came home feeling rotten, and despite avoiding the naughty stuff for a while, I eventually succumbed to a few Mini-Mars (well 5), a couple of squares of flapjacks and then later some jamaican ginger cake with fruit...with butter...mmmm!

Instead of working on my college homework last night, I decided to cheer myself up and sort out all the Christmas presents I have got already. I was very surprised...I had loads of "left over presents" from previous years...and have found a home for most of them! So I am much further on with the Christmas presents than I thought! I then stayed up far too late and feel really tired today...but homework won't wait...off to have a shower now, have done 4 km on the exercise bike this morning...getting much better there!:T:T

So I am going to try and not fret over work stuff...how come one person's comment can send you into such a fit of despair! I mustn't dwell on it and will concentrate on all the good things in my life from now on...at least for the next few hours.

Hope this is not too depressing for all of you this Wednesday morning...will try to be more upbeat next time. ;)

Have a great day everyone :j:j

  • Awww Keiss have a ((((hug ))). You're doing ok ! The hare sounds lovely, the venison has definitely set me off onto the track of eating more game. MrsM yes - the farm & products do look very nice. It will be my first time ordering meat online ! I get most of my ready cooked meats from a little shop round the corner that does free range / organic local goods, and I do have a decent butcher about 20-25 mins walk away. I tend to avoid most supermarket meat except for Waitrose, or the odd reduced bargain in the Co op. This means I do buy smaller quantities but more expensive meat.

My mum has a craving for Bath Chaps which she hasn't had for about 30 years and I couldn't find anyone locally that would do them, hence Butts Farm ! which a friend found for me and very grateful I am to him too :D

Morning all...Frogga if you were cycling here this am you would be a very wet frog by the time you got to work, fine misty rain that gets into everything!

Mrs MC what can I say to you? All this energy is wonderful...youth is what its about if I'm honest!

Have decided that the first hour on pc is family history every day, then an hour (or so) on MSE and then chores and cooking and knitting for the afternoon...today is the first day so we'll see how it goes.

Chin up to all those who are wavering....wavered for a long time before I lost 1 pound last week, so keep going it happens eventually...as you can imagine everybody has been commenting on my huge weight loss since 1st September!!

    To-day I have eaten:
    B. Apple, porridge with banana and honey, coffee, glass water.

    L. will be soup and maybe a sandwich if I'm very hungry;

    D. will be beef casserole with mash...might have salad too as I spied nice head ( or is it more properly 'chicon') of chicory in the garden yesterday, needs using.

Will be back to edit food intake

Hi all. Glad it's back on again -even if some of the posts are still "missing" at the moment.

Didn't have a good day yesterday food wise. Went for a walk at lunch time though - walked to Aldi - bought veg, biscuits :o, and some frozen fruit (to go on my porridge). Walked back again. Considering it's TOTM I actually felt better for having had a walk. Planning to do that every week now (although it's only 15 mins brisk walk there it's uphill coming back and with shopping bags).

Got back and ate biscuits though. Their low fat yoghurts are nice (had one of those too). Then in the evening gave in to a kit kat too. :o

Today lunch is left over chicken casserole (but lots of juice so more like a soup), baked potato. And to try and be good - a small piece of rye bread with ham and cheese.

Tonights tea is stir fry veg (chopped it up last night so it's all ready) and prawns. Will make up sauce with soy, honey and balsamic probably ;)

Still want chocolate now though - TOTM thing  Chewing gum - but it isn't helping!

Oooh found a nice recipe for tuna corn salad in my new book. Don't have the book here but basically it's to serve 2 and:-

Half a tin of kidney beans
Small tin of sweetcorn (with peppers - or add chopped red peppers separately)
    200g tin of tuna drained
half a red onion finely chopped.

Mix it all up. Put onto a small bed of lettuce leaves. Pour over 1 teaspoon olive oil and 2 tspn lemon juice. Sprinkle lightly with mild chilli powder.

Makes tuna much more interesting :D

OH now wants it for lunches all week ;)

ok..i will ask..what are "bath chaps"?.. thought i would be clever and look on that web site..but no picture and no description.. so i will confess my ignorance :p ...

Keiss21.... well done on the loss :T .... its not ONLY 1lb its 1lb :T a loss is a loss..so a huge well done :j ....grab that pack of lard/butter and imagine it stuck to you ;)
That grumpy tutor is probably just worried about you making her look bad at her job.... why else would she have a problem with you helping a student??? just ignore her and don't let her make you feel bad... im sure that student appretiated the help ;)

I love game... mm rabbit caserole.. my brother used to catch them..well his dogs did :rotfl:
My uncle is always on the land and comes back with duck, pheasant, partridge ..the works.. when we move back home to the UK.. its all mine as no-one else either wants it or knows what to do with it...:j

kittyscarett.. last year i used www.johnshepparddirect.com for my xmas meat.. god it was good..all delivered xmas eve in insulated boxes -i had the big xmas hamper plus some other bits and it was gorgeous... i hink finding a decent meat supplier is a god send.. here there is lots of choice in the super markets but vouching for its origin is another thing... mind all the organic products here are so much cheaper than the UK.. and the selection is so much better..

Meanmarie... youth ..thats becoming a distant memory :rotfl: i will be 36 on the 22nd december...
I am having to make myself do some exercise... i am by nature a lazy trout :p ... when we lived in Ipswich the naffi was literally across a play area from our house and i still used to take the car...hanging my head in shame now :o
Im so restricted as to what i can do with my head problem.. walking just seems to make me feel so much better... but i know its a silppery slope if i stop... its saving us money too as i will tootle and fetch just what i need now... and it means i don't feel as though im exercising for the sake of it...

I never really "got" chicory until we went to Keffalonia and then i developed quite a taste for it... the only "veg" i can't get my head around is fennel.. bleughhh -aniseed eughhhh -I have fallen in love with Kholrabi..especially raw and then Romanesco.. too that is lovely..and funky looking too:p

    Newlywed...
Im fighting the urge to have a "wally trolley" :p .. my mum wants to get me one for xmas..a 4 wheeler..non of this pulling along a 2 wheeled jobby.. but im trying to convince myself that having to go out every day for bits n pieces is better for me.. i know if i have a trolley i will be throwing stuff in willy nilly :D .. but all those 15mins there and then back..uphill and with bags you are doing will soon add up...
the only thing i did different last week was to start walking more and my loss went from 2lb to 4.5lb..... im not expecting to keep losing big chunks.. but every little helps -my journey this morning took 10 mins less than it did on monday..so i must be getting quicker... mind not having gale force 10 in my face on the way back helped:rotfl:
To cure your choc craving -would you be able to cope with something like one of those little animal choc bars? or would that make you want more?
That tuna salad sounds like my kind of thing :D

well i will get off again...

Hmmm. Can I open a packet of biscuits and only eat one? Only if someone else steals the packet after I've taken the first one :o

Though I did manage to only eat one two finger kit kat last night and didn't even think about the rest of them in the cupboard.

As for the wally trolley - OH would disown me ;) Plus although we live on a ground floor flat, there's lots of stairs to the front door (supermarket delivery always moan) so I think bags are easier.

Well done on the walking more and the fact that you're walking quicker. I would walk even more but OH seems to object so I've gotten lazy. Hence the Aldi walk - as I only buy a few selected bits from there each week - buy much more from Lidl and seemingly horrendous amounts from Tesco/Sainsbury. Feel like I'm always shopping

Doing a variety of shops each month has saved me money though as I look for offers and put things back if I know its cheaper in Aldi/Lidl ;)

    Afternoon all

Fell by the wayside yesterday after a surprise invitation to go out and then have a meal. Couldn't say no and had a lovely day out, little bits walking n' shopping. Delicious meal duck pate, smoked haddock and pea rissotto and shares of profiteroles (sp?) and the yummiest lemon merquine pie i have ever eaten. Apart from that I had my porridge OJ and a banana, pinched a few mouthfulls of DSs' burger n' few chips.

Been for a long walk round a country park this morning - feel great! Going to walk into town soon and get a few more bits and pieces, so more walking. The place could do with a good hoover so I'll do that later.

    Today's eats:-
    B - porridge, OJ, apple
L - HM celery soup, bowl of salad, bowl of fresh pineapple, mango (feel cheated about the mango, bought 2 for 90p and that one wasn't that nice nor ripe)
D - peppered mackeral (not eaten last night) few baby potatoes, green beans, carrots and cauliflower.

Thinking of doing sugar free jelly for snacky moments.

Since I have been visiting you all here, I have noticed that writting down what I eat and how i eat it is helping me to be more aware of my "food-thing". I crave and binge, I eat out too much and make it an excuse to scoff too much. I eat massive portions, I'm always hungry and never feel full - just don't seem to have that stop you're full button.

It's making me think - but not sure how to tackle all this. Like I have just finished lunch and I could eat more, still peckish......
    Ho hum.

    Hello All,

Still not having too good a time with a horrible lady at work. Why are some people SO difficult? I would say it's like working with tadpoles , but that's unfair on my tadpoles who are very easy and well behaved! Still , I'm rising above it!;)

Going to MrT after tadpole no.1 gets back from school. They have dress in civvies day on Friday for CIN and I thought I would treat her to something nice and new:T Will have to try hard to avoid the yummy food! Not sure how strong my will power is at the mo!

Hope you are feeling better MM :kisses3: and Hi MrsM:wave:
