Like you my weight loss will be slow, because of M.E. my energy levels are low and I get ill if I exercise.
Before I was ill I used to cycle to work 1hr 10mins each way. Loved it.
100yds walk is my limit now, but I am getting better.

Thanks guys. So it's looking like chinese - non-fried - options then ;) Shame coz I just love egg fried rice - yum!

Well done to everyone who has lost. Well done especially to mrsm as you're doing so well! ;)

Hugs to you recovering - life sometimes chucks all sorts at you all at once. Just try and remind yourself that it was 6 years ago and hopefully you have had good times since then even with those huge life changes. Remember though it is still ok to grieve and think of lost loved ones around this time too. Hope your week goes ok.

"BTW have any of you tried Paul McKenna? I saw him briefly on QVC last night and some of the people ringing in had lost shed loads of weight. What he was describing sounded a bit like this OS slimming we (well okay, not me at the moment but you know what I mean) are doing. No forbidden foods, only eating when you are hungry etc. The pack was £42 which seemed a bit steep though, so any comments would be welcome."

I did it last year and lost quite a bit of weight - in fact I was only 2lbs from my target  then I got a virus that completely wiped me out, I didn't want to eat but I forced myself in the hope I'd feel better/recover quicker. I did get better but 'lost the plot' as far as PMK goes  I do still listen to it and find it helps, I used the 90 day diary that you get in the kit (or off Amazon) and found that immensley helpful - in fact I'm tempted to get another but being as tight as I am and having one only half used..........

    I'm fed up
Car has failed   MOT - needs sommat doing to the brakes..

Ah well, beans on toast for tea...
  • well done this is it and marie !!! pick up a 1lb of lard or butter and see how heavy it is, thats what you've lost and its NOT pathetic at all - its an indication that your efforts are not in vain.

((((rs)))) its funny how our minds won't let go of unpleasant anniversaries. Mine does the same, throughout the year sad things come back to me, or I'm sharply reminded by other people's words or actions. Sometimes I can fight them off, sometimes I just have to give in to reliving them. You're not the only person whose reaction includes turning to food either :o it just reinforces how bad I feel, which I guess is part of why I do it... to hurtle down to rock bottom so I can start hauling myself up, maybe.

Newlywed - as an alternative to chinese you could get indian but not one of the really sauce rich curries - get a tandoori dish ( not tikka masalla :P ) and boiled rice, salad and raitha, and maybe a veg side dish or two - sag aloo is normally not too greasy. Or get grilled chicken skewers from a kebab shop with some pitta, humous and loads of salad.

essexgirl - you're very welcome - hopefully you will be able to fit in plenty of OS meals on your SW regime :D

    Thanks. So options are:-

Chinese - chow mein or chicken in sauce with plain rice.
    Indian - non-cream curry
    Kebab - chicken option.

Yup can deal with that ;)

    I need some help please.

I've bought a turkey drumstick to make into soup but I've never done this before only made vegetable soup. Do I cook the drumstick first and then boil it or do i just boil it? Any other tips would be welcome.

    Thanks

right well I've not been here for ages, started then failed straight away... Like recovering spendaholic this is a bad time of year for me - end of October is the anniversary of my fiance dying (a few years ago now but due to his parents hating me I did't see him at the end and was banned from his funeral) - and the run up to christmas is hard as that is when my Dad died. Plus I HATE dark nights/mornings and definitely suffer from SAD.

I know that we overeaters don't really need an excuse but when I feel like s**t, I eat s**t.

I am, however, going to make a concerted effort in the run up to Christmas (which should now be easier to enjoy given that I've got my DS to get all excited for)

I can't promise to do well, but I can promise not to buy anything in a packet. If I'm cooking it myself it's not rubbish, is it?

so I am dragging myself back on the wagon. I'm trying to knit DS a Tombliboo (don't ask - In the Night Garden - he loves it) which might stop me shoving the contents of the goody cupboard down my neck on a nightly basis.

    Wish me luck! :o

Ooh yes - I forgot about tandoori chicken with boiled rice and that lovely yoghurt with mint and cucumber - I like that yoghurt stuff more than anything else. And Poppadums are quite good too - MUCH better than naan bread - you can eat about 6 poppadums for the equivilant of quite a small naan.

There is no need to cook the turkey drumstick forst, but do remove the skin before you put it in the stock/soup pan or it will be greasy. Just cover the skinless drumstick with water, add 2 stock cubes and simmer for about an hour and a half to two hours. Then take out the drumstick and chop up the meat and discard the bone and sinews. Add the chopped meat back into the pan and add 2 large carrots, a large onion, two sticks of celery ( just peel them and blitz them in the food processor before adding to the pan), some mixed herbs and salt and pepper. Cook for 30 minutes and then add two packets of noodles (the supernoodle low fat ones are fine) which you have crushed up, but DON'T add the sachet of flavouring stuff (it's full of junk and fat) and cook for a further 10 minutes. It makes lovely chicken noodle soup stuff and is lovely and filling - In fact I am going to make it for tea now that you have reminded me about it!
