Hi there Pigpen
Well they reckon not eating enough can stop you losing weight Too... Its suposed to date back to when we were cavemen..and when things were lean and food was in short supply -our bodies "held on to" what we did eat and stored it as fat in case we didn't eat again for a while. Where as they reckon if you eat fairly regularly even just little n often it keeps your metabolic rate going...so burning more cals.....well thats the theory anyway:D
Heck it isn't always straight forward this do's and don't of "healthy eating" is it...
My SIS got told to eat more when she was trying to lose weight and it helped her..even though it seems back to front...
Anyway I hope you enjoy your evening out
Rockie... well thats slightly better news on the car repairs :T ..sorry about the journey form hell on the way home... hope you get a nice relaxing weekend to make up for itand congrats on getting through a stressfull day ok:D

Meanmarie - we must have posted at the same time before so I missed your post about losing 1lb - well done - it's a start, and that's more than me at the moment and I started at the same time as you!
Rockie4 - well done for not bingeing!
Taplady - I can't resist mince pies either. There is a little craft bakery near my house and they hand make their mince pies and I honestly don't think that there is any mince pie as nice - people who lived in Crosby and who have moved away still send back for them from all round the world apparantly! I haven't succumbed to one yet this year but I might "reward" myself with a couple if I can at least stay binge free for a few weeks.
I think I might try the Paul McKenna thing - It might be what I need. I didn't have anything to eat after my binge this morning, and tonight I just had a small bowl of soup and a tangerine - so kept the calories for the day at around 2000, which is too much to lose weight but it could have been soooooooo much worse - so thanks for your kind words earlier - they really helped me - I think it helped to post on this board too - quite often I just hide away when I binge and that just makes things worse. Ex OH was round again before for a couple of hours, but I just kind of ignored him and carried on with what I was doing - he has this habit of coming round first thing of a morning and then again around tea time for about 3 hours - he just lies on the settee and plays on the kids DS and watches telly and then goes home - he's sooooo odd.
Anyway I am going to watch the Tudors in a bit - it's a bit rubbish really but Henry is a bit fit (when I told DD1 this she said that it was sick and wrong of me to think this as I am 44 and he is about 25).
Hope you are all having a good evening.Jane

Evening all. Well done to everyone whos lost this week :T And *hugs* to everyone whos feeling bad or had a tough day.
I'm rather proud of myself today, I ate before going shopping with sis so i didn't buy junk/waste money and then went into gregs with sis to get her a sandwich and resisted some very tasty looking gingerbread snowmen. A small acheivment but I'm happy all the same. I'm also very pleased because I found a nice pair of flat boots (I can't walk in heels) that actually fitted round my calves with room to spare!!I just need to wait till I have £40 to spare to buy them now.
Anyhoo, today I've had:
Breakfast: Porridge with honey
Lunch: Spicy couscous (HM)
Dinner: HM spag bol.
I might go make some raisin flapjacks now. I know I'll want something to nibble later and if I make them I'll only have one rather than a heap of choccy biccys.
Oh, exercise today was trekking round every shop in town on what I have now named "The Great Wii Hunt"! Sis wants to get bf one for his bday but everywhere is sold out again. One shop said they were getting them in at 10:30 this morning, we went in at 2pm and they were already sold out! Apparently Nintendo underestimated demand and are shipping them out as they're made. I don't even want to think about how quickly they'll be selling out closer to christmas.I'm through accepting limits'Cuz someone says they're soSome things I cannot changeBut till I try, I'll never know!0 -

:rotfl: I agree with you, he is very tasty!:D and I am an old lady of 41!
the mince pie was made with a recipe I got from here 'best ever mince pie pastry' which is gorgeous, its a good job I left the rest of them at work, by the time I get back on Tuesday they will all have been eaten!:D
I had heard about eating too little can stop you losing weight too, your body goes into starvation mode as it doesn't know when its going to get its next meal so it holds on to all the calories instead of burning them off.
Off to wtch the tudors.
TTFN!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Heh. Well I fancy Tom Welling ( who admittedly is 30 now but has played a teenager for years ! ) and I'm 40, so what kind of a perv does that make me. rs :P Sadly I can't find one bit of totty in The Tudors for me, Johnathan Rhys Myers is a bit whippet like for my tastes
pigpen, I agree with MrsM ( again ! :P ) it really doesn't sound like you're eating enough, and yes the little and often thing can stimulate your metabolism. Also don't forget your five a dayyou need more fruit and veggies gal !
Ok, so not too bad a day :
Breakfast - slice of lean ham and wholemeal bread and butter, glass of milk.
Lunch : cheese and chutney sandwich, 3 big sticks of celery, 2 tomatoes, diet coke, packet of crisps *blush*
Fraid during the course of the day I was not able to resist the still as yet unpacked up packet of chocolate coated mulled wine raisins... o dear. At least I didn't scarf them all down in one go.
Dinner was the rest of the hm spag bol and a side salad, I really over estimated on portions. Couldnt finish my salad ! and felt stuffed after. O well.
Got about 40 mins brisk walking in today. Also noticed I have shrunk slightly in a rather unexpected area after trying on a particular item of apparel - don't want to say what it isas its a bit embarassing to people that don't know me intimately, but it was an amusing and cheering experience !

Pigpen pet,
Get some more food in please...try something in the morning even if just a banana and a glass of water....you see I am an expert now that I have lost the one pound!
RS...you did have a bad time...I thought that 1994 was bad when my parents died unexpectedly within eight weeks of each other, but your experience was something else..I found it difficult to deal with losing them both so close but eventually had to try to pull myself together, not sure how long that took but each day is one nearer to being able to move on...hugs.
Today I have eaten:
B. Pear, custard danish and coffee;
L. Poached salmon, mash, parsley sauce, peas and swede, glass water;
D. omelette with chorizo and tomato, pint water;
Snacks: half bread roll, tiny piece clementine cake, pear.
It was OH's birthday and we had lunch out, danish and cake for same reason
Congratulations to all losers and double congratulations to Frogga for her money saving/ weight losing efforts this week

I am so cross with myself - I think I tell myself that faddy diets are bad, best to eat sensibly etc. and then interpret that to mean "carry on as usual then!"
I don't eat biscuits or crisps or very much chocolate. I do eat butter, snack on chunks of bread and cheese, quaff a couple of glasses of red each evening.:D ...see my problem? No wonder my weight isn't shifting.
I really want to be fitter and slightly trimmer before we go off to Germany for Christmas as I don't want DIL's family to see the large frump I am now. Six weeks before we fly...what's the single most effective thing you think I could do to improve matters, please? All suggestions very gratefully received! And no, I really don't want a faddy replacement diet - been there and put it all back!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Morning all
Well hubby just got back from the golf course...apparently didn't even get out of the car as it was belting it down...must have been bad to stop him golfing
Dinner today is going to be corned beef hash with yorkies..made a huge pan yesterday and have heaps left..so i may have to freeze some up for my lunches this week too...shame
Hi there Beemuzed
I think that for me..the thing that has worked most is reducing my portions...I could eat a pea more than a pig..well at one time..
I decided that i was still going to eat "proper" food and my fave meals.. so im eating:-
corned beef hash n dumpling
liver casserole
roast dinners
Hm sausages n yorkies
chees n potato flans and allsorts... Im just eating smaller portions.. and because im really enjoying my food and feeling satisfied im not craving anything.
I do still have HM bread..but now i only have 2-4 slices max most weeks.... even though it was one of my fave things. But now i really enjoy every bite...rather than shoving it down without realising it.
I think accepting that this is a long term thing rather than a quick fix has taken all the stress and pressure off of me too.
Where abouts in Germany are you visiting? hope you have a lovely time..oh and i hope you are planning a trip to a christmas market..or 2
Meanmarie.... clementine cake sounds rather tasty....
Kittyscarlett.... you have shrunk...thats all that matters....i won't ponder "where" you have shrunk... but shrunk is shrunk - so well done
... we have folks losing it off their "assets".... but its still weight gone isn't it :T
AliBow.... well done on resisting Greggs :T ... That would have save you loads of cals/fat and some pennies too :j .. I have a problem with getting boots to fit my calfs too...mine are like a russian shot putters-and i mean the blokes not the womens :rotfl: . Everytime you resist buying -say, a greggs pie, or that pack of crisps.. could you pop the money into a pot.. .. and use it toward that pair of boots you want? Would be nice to see something for all your determination and willpower... you would be seeing something for all your efforts
Hope all is well with you frogga
well i had better get off and get my weetabix....:j
have a good day everyone -and keep up the good work:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying the weekend so far. I was up and out at 8am to take DD1 to her Saturday job at Boots and then went straight to the hairdressers for a cut and blow. Didn't have any breakfast before I left the house and now think it is too late to have anything, so I have just peeled and chopped a couple of bramley apples and "stewed" them in the microwave with a bit of Splenda, so I will have them with some hm greek style yoghurt as a sort of late breakfast/snack thing. I am cooking a ham shank to make lentil soup for lunch, and I have a load of brocolli, cauliflower and sprouts which need using up so will make something with them for tea.
Mrs M - How do you make corned beef hash? I usually just mix corned beef with some mashed potatoes, but it is a bit bland and I don't really like it much - but CBH and dumplings sounds lovely!
Hi Beemuzed - I am not the best person to give advice as I am having real difficulty sticking to any kind of healthy eating plan at the moment, but I think Mrs M's advice is sound.
I just opened a new packet of Splenda to add to my stewed apple and there was a recipe leaflet in there and it had this recipe for orange and almond cake - I know that some of you don't like the idea of artificial sweetner, but I don't mind the splenda stuff and you could always just substitute sugar I suppose as it is volume based measurement.
Anyway here it is:
4 oranges
7tbs of splenda
7oz ground almonds
1tsp baking powder
6 eggs
You just simmer the oranges in boiling water for 2 hours and then drain. Chop and de-pip two of them and blitz with splenda, eggs, ground almonds and baking powder in a food processor. Slice the two remaining oranges into thin rounds. Bottom line an 8" cake tin with parchment and put a layer of sliced oranges on this. Pour in the batter and then put another layer of oranges on the top. Bake in 180 oven for 45 minutes - apparantly the cake is moist and the skewer test wont work so just take it out after 45 minutes.Jane
