Well done Mrs M and juliejim on your weight losses, an inspiration to us all, and great encouragement for the rest of us to keep on going :T:j:T

Frogga good luck with cycling today, have you got a flood warning where you are? Here's hoping things don't as bad as predicted.

Not been too brilliant this week eating-wise. I have been doing the first lot of homework for my teacher-training course the past few days and suddenly I have wanted to eat everything in the kitchen!

Not sure if this is the stress/shock of unaccustomed research and essay writing, or a subconscious work-avoidance ploy! Anyway I handed in the homework last night and have more to do for next week, and the week after...INTENSE! _pale_

This morning I am going to look over what we did last night and read all the handouts as well as check what's on-line. As I was away all last weekend, I didn't look at the first homework until Monday...not doing that again! A little (or lot!) every day will hopefully reduce the panic factor, so hopefully I can keep my snacking under control.

    Food for today:

B: Special K with Soya milk + OJ
    fruit
L: Bacon butty...DS2 off with damaged leg tendons, so a treat (yes same DS with damaged shoulder a few weeks ago!)
    cereal bar
T: not sure, will see what butchers have when shopping.
    sugar-free jelly with fruit

Now off on exercise bike for 20 mins before showering, dressing and getting down to college work.

Have a good day everyone. :A

Hi all. Had a rare day off with OH on Weds (with no kids ;)). Went up town and was fairly good food wise - had a wholemeal walnut and date scone instead of a lovely huge muffin  Had omelette and small amount of chips for lunch and when we got back tea was already cooking in the slow cooker (starting to really love that thing!).

Skinned chicken thighs are in there at the moment - but not for tea - going to strip the meat and freeze for another day and then use the water/juices to make some soup for lunches next week.

Tomorrow will be gammon in the slow cooker. and then Sunday we are going to friends and getting takeaway

Anyone know a slightly more healthy option for takeaway? Not been decided what type of takeaway so any ideas would be good ;)

My 'healthy choice' for takeaway is always chinese - boiled rice, and something like chicken or beef in black bean sauce, or chicken with cashews... non creamy, non fried, non greasy. I allow myself 2 prawn crackers though ;) x
  • Hi Everyone

Would you mind if i joined in with you all too on the mission to lose weight?

I recently had a little boy who was 9 weeks on Tuesday and am desperate to lose the weight i gained during pregnancy. Not doing bad tho, have 12lbs left to lose of my baby weight to get back to my pre pregnancy weight of 10stone 8lbs, but would love to get down to 9.5-10stone.

Have started going to SW classes and also started back at the gym last week as had to wait for my c-section scar to heal, but its paying off as i lost 4lb when i went for my weigh in on Tues and that wasnt even my first week at SW it was my 4th week!!!

So anyway im hoping to shift the last 12lb by Christmas so as i can get back into my clothes that have been collecting dust for the last 11 months!!

    Well done you losers
    Welcome newbies :j
Hels_Bels - well done on the job

Well, it all went to pot last night as I feared it would  clock was wrong in the pool so we were running late, grabbed a cheese sandwich and a coffee then OH presented me with a kitkat (it would be churlish to refuse) :o
We went to the Christmas lights switch on - it was good, the likes of Shane thingymagig and Corrie stars were overshadowed by............BOB THE BUILDER :T :T
but it was sooooo cold! OH stopped for chips on the way home which were disgusting so they went in the bin and I had 3 slices of toast :o
Never mind, I weighed myself this morning and have lost a pound :T
I've had muesli for brekkie, I've bought a salad from M&S for lunch because I was too tired last night to make anything and tea will depend on whether my car passes its MOT today - either a celebratory takeaway or beans on toast!

  • Hello everyone - Well done Mrs M and juliejim - great weight losses! I wish I could say I have been good but I started today off with a sort of semi-binge - don't know why really, other than this week is the 6th anniversary of when everything started to go really wrong - My husband came home on 12th November 6 years ago and announced that he was in love with someone else - I know that this happens to loads of people but it was a complete bombshell to me and I went to pieces. DD2 was only a toddler, and DD1 was 10. To make things worse in the six weeks that followed up to Christmas he dissapeared with our brand new car and ALL our money, my Mum died suddenly on what would have been our 16th wedding anniversary and then her sister, (my Auntie who lived with Mum as they both cared for my disabled sisters) died on Christmas Eve and on the same day DD2 fell off the top of her sister's bunk bed and broke both her arms! It was a truly nightmare time and around this time of year I always get really anxious and panicky. Just to make things worse ex OH didn't even send a sympathy card or flowers to the funerals and didn't reappear until weeks later.

Anyway he came round this morning at about 7.30 to iron his work stuff  and I took DD1 to college and on the way back I just found myself in McDonalds drive through and had a McMuffin, 2 hash browns and a bacon roll, and then to make it even worse I drove to Tescos and bought a bar of chocolate and two finest cream scones ( I didn't eat all of them though - threw them in a bin after a couple of bites). So now I will have to try and get back on track- sorry to have gone on and on like I just have... My new year's resolution is starting early and will be to be more positive.

Talking of positive people, Mrs M and her serrano ham in the supermarket reminded me of when I used to live in Germany years ago. At Christmas I was invited to dinner at a lovely family's house and they served Schinken in Brotteig - it was a large leg of ham encased in really thick white bread dough and then baked in the oven. It was the most WONDERFUL taste - the bread was all crusty on the outside, but the inside had absorbed all the wonderful ham juices - It was fantastic! I ate so much of it it was embarassing! They also had the most amazing Christmas tree with hundreds of real candles on it - it was beautiful.

BTW have any of you tried Paul McKenna? I saw him briefly on QVC last night and some of the people ringing in had lost shed loads of weight. What he was describing sounded a bit like this OS slimming we (well okay, not me at the moment but you know what I mean) are doing. No forbidden foods, only eating when you are hungry etc. The pack was £42 which seemed a bit steep though, so any comments would be welcome.

Newlywed - the healthiest takeaway I know of is chow mein - it doesn't come with rice or chips but has lots of veg and noodles in it. I love it - I don't even get it with meat in - I just order plain chow mein and it is much cheaper that way and you don't miss the meat. Foo Young is not too bad either, providing you don't have rice or chips with it, but I am not so good at resisting that particular temptation so I just settle for the chow mein.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on and on but I feel better now that I have read through all your posts and taken a few minutes out - I will endeavour to redress the eating balance today with some veg soup for lunch and brocolli and cauliflower with a little bit of cheese sauce for tea.

BTW Frogga - I am well impressed with your cycling!
