    Morning All,

Feeling happy today as it is the first day since Monday that I have woken up with my brain working. My flu has finally been beaten into submission :j

Yesterday went ok - i decided to not worry too much about the calories as I was dizzy and shaky most of the day. so..

    B - missed
L - pasta and sauce made with water
D- home made pizza and dough balls (found some dough in the freezer) 2 glasses wine
Snacks - banana and 2 ginger nut biscuits

I have inventoried everything in my cupboards and have just enough food for a menu plan till 28th Nov when my boyfriend gets back from oz - we are having fake christmas on the 29th Nov so its all worked out perfectly
    Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10:love:
    expecting triplets in Jul/ Aug 2012 :eek::eek::eek::grinheart:grinheart:grinheart
  • i'm a monster!
    Have gained 4lbs!
So todayis back on with soup as the main food of choice for a few days, and then nothing but good wholesome home cooking!
Even my magickinckers can't hide the fact I'm turning into a christmas pudding! It's a seasonal thing!
Right, from now, Christmas doesn't start until the 8th december. up to that point I am losing weight, and no occassion is an excuse to pig out!

  • Hello everyone - where is Mrs M? I am waiting for her to tell me how to make corned beef hash and dumplings! Seriously, I hope you are okay. This morning I have had three chipolata sausages (lovely hm style ones from the local butcher) and a cup of decaff coffee. I would usually have the full works - bacon egg tomatoes toast but I am trying the "just have what you fancy but keep the portions reasonable" for the next week and this morning all I REALLY wanted were the sausages. I have a piece of pork leg (outdoor reared, from the same butcher as the sausages) in the oven and will have that later on for tea I think, with cabbage, carrots, parsnips and sprouts and maybe a couple of roast potates. I made split pea soup with a ham shank yesterday so will have that for lunch in a bit. I will see how this non-diet approach works for the next week and see if I lose any weight, because the diet approach sure isn't working at the moment!

I have to go to the shops later, so will be careful to only get what is on my list - I have just done a financial audit and I am in soooo much debt. It is nearly 2 years since I was made redundant and I don't get any benefits so have been living on my redundancy money and ex OH's small amount of child support since then and it is definitely time for me to find another job! I wanted to wait until I get my heart procedure done but I haven't lost anything like enough weight for them to do it yet, so it looks like I will just have to find an understanding employer who will accept that I might need time off every now and then when I get an episode of AF. I could do with doing a few car boot sales as I have loads of stuff I could sell, but I can't seem to work up the enthusiasm.

Hope you are all having a good weekend. It is pouring here too Frogga, but I haven't got a tumble dryer so I will just have to leave the washing for today!

Meanmarie - your meal sounded wonderful! The menu sounds a bit like a restaurant near us called Heathcoates - I love it there but have never been brave enough to try the black and white pudding!

Wooo Hooo Im Here Recovering Spendaholic

Sorry i haven't shown my face yet today... my head kicked off and it makes me feel really eughhh all lethargic n grouchy ... still im back....
righty ho...corned beef hash.... its sooooo simple (its what i call a "whop it in n see") and you can alter the ratio of veg to suit...

    SOOO -
    1. throw chunks of carrot, swede, potato(cut some up smaller as then they break up and help thicken it), onions (i just 1/4 them)and parsnips in a big pan...
    2. pour in cold water to about 3/4 way up the veg.wang a lid on and bring to the boil,
    3. then reduce the heat and cook over a low heat (give it an occasional stir to make sure all the veggies get cooked)...
    4. cook until the veg are tender.... then i het a ladle n jug and remove some of the liquid ...so it is about 1/2 way up the veggies -
    5. throw in a tin of marrowfat/proccessed peas - including the liquid... and chunks of corned beef... you can use as little or much as you like...
    6. add penty of seasoning
    7. give a good stir pop back on a low heat but without the lid..so that it will reduce down and thicken - you want stuff to break up... if you want to do dumplings  then you will need to pop the lid back on whilst you make them so that you get lots of steam to help them cook...
    8. the stew is even nicer made up the day before..as it thickens when it stands....
    9. Its great with dumplings, yorkies and even with a pastry crust..but it is nice n filling on its own
you don't have to use all those veggie..just what you like..oh and celeriac is nice in it too,

The batch i made on friday had the whole works... i got carried away with quantities :p ... so we had it friday with dumplings... yesterday in a big fat yorkie.. and still ended up freezing 4 portions..that i will use up for lunch times ;)

Oh and if you keep any stock you removed... when you have taken out all that you want (i use a slotted spoon)...throw the stock back into the pan with any liquid still in there... throw in some red lentils and this time i added some pearl barley..cook until soft and then blitz and you get a tasty thick soup..thats got loads of goodness in..and costs pence ;) ... if its too thick just throw in a bit of water and a stock cube....
I don't normally - but this time i had so much veg i used a full tin of corned beef - but as it made 12 portions plus 3 flasks of soup for hubby i don't think that it too bad at all :D

You can make it lower cal etc by using less potato and more swede etc... but i find it a realy tasty, filling meal..... hope you like it..its one of my faves

Mirandamayhem....you aren't a monster ... heck there are NO knickers "magic" enough to help me :rotfl: .....unles i pull them over my head so i can't get food into my mouth :rotfl:

svjenni .....glad you are feeling better :T its nice that you have a date to aim for.... getting that stuff used up out of the cupboard will hopefully give you extra cash for when your boyfriend gets back from OZ.... me n hubby are going back to the UK for xmas/new year and my aim is to stick to my meal plans and get my HM stuff used up out of the freezer between now and then -17th Dec.... i have been using some of my house keeping to buy the stuff for my xmas hampers for the tribe back home... that way it doesn't feel like its actually "costing" anything...if that makes sense...

    Hello Frogga :D

Juliejim..good luck for the morning..im sure you will soon get back into the swing of things ;)

Meanmarie.. yum yum.. that meal sounds just about perfect in my world..... glad you enjoyed it :p and thankyou fro the recipes :T

Alibow... you will have the money saved for those boots in no time.... i put money away for allsorts of reasons :p .. i have tins that you have to tin open to get the money:-
    • 1 for gold coins
    • 1 for bronze coins
    • 1 for 2 euros
    • 1 for the deposits i get back from bottles here
    • 1 for every 1lb i lose we both put 1 euro in (there is about £50 in there so far)...i call it my "blubber box" :rotfl: and hubby calls it the "tiny tin" as if i lose as much as im planning on..i should be "tiny" ... have along way to go but -hey ho
    • and i now have hubby doing it..well i got 80bottles of beer the other day at less then 30cents a bottle and told him if everytime he has one he throws 50cents into a tin then next time we want a re-stock you won't notice the money as its allready saved... its amazing how quick it builds up...
Well i got up this morning, started doing hubby some toast -then he realised it was later than he thought and he had to get to work for the remeberance day parade - looked lovely in his uniform..he now has his medals mounted properly :p so didnt have time for it..so i had it for brekkie -I wanted weetabix  but i wasn't going to waste it :p ... thing is it has left me feeling really stuffed..so i had done potatoes n onions in the oven with braising steak in the middle...gave hubby mine as i really couldn't face it ... and i am DEFFINITELY having a weetabix for tea.. no matter what happens... I don't know what is happening but im finding myself more and more leaning toward really "bland" food at the moment... If i am honest i could live on weetabix and...well weetabix really:rotfl:

well i had better get off and i think i will have a wallow in a cool bath.. strange but i feel really hot n bothered at the moment  and we don't have any heating on...

well hope everyone is having a good weekend..keep up the good work folks ... not long until xmas now :T

Hello Taplady...you snook in whilst i was typing :D .... the drink thing works really well.. i now grab a drink of water every time i "think" i might be hungry and 9 times out of 10 it stops me eating...

Hi Frogga, Mrs McC and everyone,

Not done much to-day...spent an hour before I came downstairs sorting some of the stuff in my bedroom...another 10 or 12 like sessions should nearly do it!
Made some bread, pasta sauce, Asian style soup, soaked the fruit for the Cmas pudding, but not done anything energetic really!

    I have eaten:

    B. Half white roll, egg salad sandwich, coffee;

    L. Some of the soup, which turned out very well;

    D. Leftover tarragon chicken stir fry and couscous from Friday

Just notice that I have had no fruit yet, so a couple of apples and a pear should see me through until bedtime

Congratulations to all losers and good luck to everyone

Today I had.. nothing for my breakfast as I would have been sick.. last nights dinner went down the loo.. I'm not bulimic I just took too many painkillers before drinking half a bottle of vodka and 3 pints of lemonade!

4 bourbon biscuits to line my empty sicky tummy!!! at noon

At 3pm I had Scampi, chips and 2 scoops of ice cream for lunch and I'm having a dish of yesterdays corned dog hash for dinner.. soon because I am starving now.

See.. loads of stodge and fat in there today..

We haven't got any fruit in the house or I'd have scarfed some of that too.

I need to sort packed lunches for tomorrow though..
