  • madsmum, there certainly is hope for you :) it just depends on what will work for you. I also try the " hour " method - ie wait an hour and then if I really want it I will go out and get one. If not, its passed, hooray for me. Having some water, doing something else to distract myself, substituting another food treat like the ones I mentioned have all worked for me.

I am quite honest about the fact that they are not infallible, there are times that vary in frequency when they fail. I have to try and remember not to beat myself up at those times. Its fine I ate a cake, its fine I ate a piece of chocolate. Its not fine if I ate ten of those things one after another. That indicates something very sad and stressful going on in my life. Again the secret is not to beat yourself up but fight to get back on track and not go down the road of " I've started so I'll finish. Why not pig out some more, its not like anybody cares, least of all me. " And it might take a little while ( while = being any time from an hour or two to a few days ) but I do get myself out of that. Because I am worth eating properly and being healthier and feeling better, no matter what those s*dding demons in my head tell me :)

So, anyway, enough waffle ( and OS'ly enough, not of the potato variety :P ) well done tryers and losers all ! I've had not too bad a day, rather bready but ok for all that.

Breakfast was a bowl of soggy shreddies ( work interrupt :( )
Lunch - wholemeal cheese sandwich, apple, big glass of tomato juice. Did feel v tired and peckish mid afternoon so had a glass of milk and jam on wholemeal toast.

Fought off the urge to get takeway this evening ( I didn't actually crave the food, I just was dogtired and wanted some kind of food no matter how cr*ppy that someone else had prepared, and fast ) Instead had steamed broccoli, carrots and runner beans with a bit of butter and lemon. Had a low fat ovaltine just now and a small piece of ginger cake and a handful of raisins. Feel quite full and satisfied now so don't think I'll need anything else tonight but if I get the craving I'll be having some grapes :)

Good night folks and hope you all sleep sweetly.

  • Hello everyone - DD1 has just gone out to the local pub so the computer is free for once, so I thought I would come on and see how you are all doing. Thanks for the tip about scrolling down when you are writing a message Mrs M - here's me thinking you must have a photographic memory!

Today hasn't been too bad food wise -

Toast with Flora for breakfast (Food Doctor wholemeal small loaf - 2 slices)
home made chicken and noodle soup - really nice and so easy to make - just boiled a chicken carcass for a couple of hours (took off the skin first thanks to Mrs M's post earlier on) and added a couple of Kallo cubes and carrots, celery, onion and leek (all blitzed in food processor first instead of chopping), some herbs and a bay leaf and then after about 30 minutes added in some dried egg noodles which I had smashed up small, and cooked for another 30 minutes - it was so tasty - DD1 ate a whole bowl of it (if you knew DD1 you would know that she doesn't eat hardly anything unless it is served by an adolescent in a baseball cap who asks if you want it large IYKWIM).
Dinner was homemade tuna and pasta bake (just boiled pasta mixed with hm cheese sauce and a tin of tuna in brine, baked in the oven until brown on top). Kids wanted me to make pancakes for pudding so I did and I had about half of a pancake in total, which isn't bad. Snacks have been an apple and a bag of low fat crisps, plus a couple of cups of tea.

Madsmum - I know JUST how you feel - I am exactly the same. I think that it is just something that will have to come about slowly - I think I am on the way to realising that losing weight is a long journey - but if someone said that if I gave them a million quid they would make me thin overnight I WOULD find the money! I find that it does help not to have chocolate and stuff in the house but I have been known to go out an buy it specially........:wall:

Have got a headcold tonight grrrr......

hope you are all having a nice evening.
    Jane

    today was:
    1 Banana for brekky
    1 apple for snack
    HM potato soup for lunch
    nutrigrain elevenses for snack
AND HM pizza for dinner, I did make it as healthy as poss, bare scrapings of grated cheese but loads of veg....MMMmmmmmmm 1st time i've done it and it was delicious.

I have just been on excercise bike for 35 mins and done 30 crunches, and, for the first time in god knows how many years, 10 sit-ups (i got up and was jumping around with joy).

Tommorrow - in work so will have 1 weetabix for brekky, will take an apple for snack, not sure about lunch yet, maybe a nice ham salad sandwich (oohh yes just made a french loaf in bm) and we're having bacon hash and beans for dinner. will also try for 35mins cycling.

    Mel x

Good evening ladies (are there any gents here? and if so good evening to you too). Gosh you have all been so busy, if only i could count keeping up with you as exercise!:rotfl:

Thanks MRSMCAWBER for your understanding and advice about the crisps - I've still not caved in!!!, though the ones I really, really want only come in huge bags!

I'm really tired today and have sore feet from walking about at work, in boots with 3 inch heels. Also, at a conference and gosh they had oodles of lovely food, pastries, scones, cookies!!! Terrible

    Today's eats:
B - 1 weetabix with ss milk, OJ
L - at conference, was really restrained - 2 triangles of sandwich, 1 satay stick and a handful of salad garnish off the buffet table (drew some funny looks that one:D
D - trout fillets baked with lemon, brocolli, carrots and spoonful of the HM pasta bake i made for my lads.
    S - apple

madsmum - I'm going to allow myself one day in the week where i can eat something i really want! This week it will be those crisps I'm craving. Denying myself nice things is making me "unhinged" and I'll end up binging out big style, not good. Better one big bag than the whole fridge....

It's so nice to come here knowing you are all trying to lose weight. Thank you!:A I'm blessed with lots of skinny friends and family, who just don't understand what it's like. Sometimes their advice, though well meant, is not helpful. "..well just eat less.. / oh I just forget to eat" and such nonsense. If it was that easy we'd all be size 10:mad:.

    Have a good Thursday!

    Evening everyone.

I started off good today, had wheatabix with ss milk and a little bit of sugar for brekkie the HM veggie soup and a small roll for lunch. Struggled to finish lunch cos I got up with the starts of a cold and not much appetite this morning. After lunch went into town (possibly rattled off a few calories on the tin can bus to and from town) sorted of my refund with the college, apparently my cheque managed to vanish in the postal strikes, then brought a heat gun from wilkos and headed home all excited about finishing off my christmas cards. Plugged the heat tool in, turned it on to see how it worked, all fine, turned it off whilst I put the embossing stuff on the cards, turn it back on to use and nothing, completly died for no apparent reason! So that on top of the cold, oh and tesco had sold out of lemons so I couldn't make lemon and honey, put me in a huff. Cooked tea (sausages and bacon done under the grill and a jacket spud) then had a nice bowl of ice cream. And a couple of hours later had the really bored munchies so made scones and devoured a couple of them. Restrained myself to just jam and no butter tho so I guess thats something! Oh well, tomorrow is another day. Its also my first driving lesson since march so maybe I'll burn some cals through nervous energy

MadsMum, I have a good recipe for HM choc truffles that are a slightly better than shop brought ones cos they're cream free and also really rich so the theory is not many are needed. Also have a recipe for chocolate fudge cake made with beetroot! Sounds gross buts its pretty good. Both are them are from the cook yourself thin book which is great, its full of recipes for everyones favourites but slightly healthier. Let me know if you want them and I'll put them up here.

Off to search for bon jovi tickets now. I've spotted some for my birthday weekend so might treat myself. I saw Aerosmith on my birthday this year, brilliant! :T

    Frogga...you are such a wonderful frog....two days in a row.....take a bow!

For breakfast this morning I had three slices of hm brown soda ( put poppy and sesame seeds in... nice) with marmalade, latte.

Suffice it to say that everything galloped downhill after that...my friend came for her birthday lunch and we had tofu chilli salad, followed by baked bream ( four for €10 in Lidl...very nice indeed, would buy again), steamed baby carrots, peas, beetroot, bok choi with oyster sauce, hm potato wedges....several glasses of red wine, two (or was it three??) slices of birthday cake (Nigella's clementine).

Over the course of the evening I have had four slices of bread made into onion sandwiches, so I think I might try to cut back a little to-morrow

Mrs MC...don't mind that jealous oul frog...you are wonderful!
