Afternoon everyone
just burnt my bl**dy hand  ... took the loaf of bread out of its tin, put it on the cooling rack and then picked up the tin to put it away  -note to self:- must remember that metal retains the heat for more than 1 second  ... burnt every finger and my thumb -followed by lots of rude words;) ... still i very rarely go in the kitchen and come out without some kind of war wound...
Went for a walk earlier..well i didn't drag myself round the golf course - so i had a poddle to the local garden centre/DIY place :T all the lovely xmas stuff is out :j ..... I was looking for inspiration for my hampers and got myself a bargain.... you know the old school cookery/shopping baskets? like that but more oval and shallow like a garden trug..... they were down to 5euros - about £3.50 :T so i got the last 2... well i was doing mum a gardening hamper, so thats ideal as she can use it to collect her veggies in from the garden, and then my brother n family have a coal fire and i thought
it would look lovely with logs in.. so there hamper is going in that.. now need to get some other kinds and all the stuff to fill them  - have quite a few to do.. and we have just booked our ferry....
We normally do rotterdam-hull on the overnight ferry.. but as they want £375... they can nick nack noo... so we checked and are doing calais - dover for £75... :j .... it works out well really as we are stopping of in bedford to see BIL,SIL, scrumpdiddlyumptious one and DH mum for a couple of days, then up to nottinghamshire to spend xmas/newyear with my lot... apparently the sis who is waiting for chemo is sooooo excited as we can now have "a proper old family xmas"... and then we will leave on the 1stjan and go back to hubbies brothers for the night and get the ferry back on the 2nd... hubby starting work on the 6th
So i need to get myself into gear.... still no cooking for me for a couple of weeks over xmas :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: might have a look through my recipes and think about making some goodies for the hampers..depending how far in advance i can make them.... have loads of lovely xmas cutters, reindeers, angels n allsorts...... might have to look..yep im going as soon as i have done this...
sorry folks lots of rambles again
Will be getting a start made on the corned beef has soon, oooh and had HM cheese, potato onion n ham flans with baked beans for lunch  they are seriously tasty -if i say so myself
Taplady... its really strange but i find that my system struggles to cope with lots of meat... i have noticed that since eating sensibly I don't suffer much at all... we still have meat most days..just very small amounts -beef is the one that i really struggle with.... hope you get it sorted soon..
glad you are feeling better this is it...:T
well i had better get off and look through my books....
keep up the good work all - i now only have 6 weigh ins before i leave for the UK so i need to keep focused if i want to hit my xmas target -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
MrsM .. will you adopt me?? I'd love a homemade hamper.. someone who actually thinks about me for a change.. nice! Shame you're not coming into Hull as well.. I could have recieved my hamper in person!!.. and baked a cake!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Heck pigpen...a cake mmmmm
I am thinking about making xmas puds for the hampers..i have the most stunning recipe... and the family love them..even the 2 nieces who don't like dried fruit :rotfl: they also eat my xmas cake n HM mincemeat too
We always do rotterdam- hull, as we are only about and hour from home that way... but this time we have decided to save £300... mind you we can claim our ferry costs and petrol costs back off the army... but it wouldn't have covered it all if we paid for the usual over nighter...;)
I have been looking at the hampers on the thread in the family/occasions bit.. so they are a bit of a last moment thought - but we weren't expecting to be going back to the UK..i used to make jewellery and sell it on ebay - I still have some stuff and tools left-so i might make some bits for the hampers... will keep my fingers busy - and out of the fridge
.... so as soon as i get back im gonna start getting bits n pieces for next xmases hampers....
Really the idea came because i wanted to do my poorley sis a "pamper hamper" but i don't want her worrying that we have only done one for her as she isn't very well...if that makes sense-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Fantastic weight losses everywhere..especially Frogga and Mrs M :T:T Well done!
For those who are struggling, I agree with previous threaders(?!), it's just a day/week, don't beat yourselves up about it. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again....do I hear a song coming on??
No I am too shattered and have loads still to do today before I set off to Slough tonight to stay with my sister.
Why is it you spend all morning (a good 5 hours) peeling and chopping load of fruit and veg to make pot-fulls of chutney, yet at the end of it you only have 7 jars of green (and red!) tomato chutney and 3 jars of mango!!!:cool:
At least there is room in my kitchen, now that the trays of home grown toms and apples are gone!
I have stripped both DS's beds and have left them to air and get made up tonight once I have gone. I love the Dutch form of airing duvets...out the window or over the balcony wall. Our windows are titchy (3 feet by 3 feet), so I could only heave out a pillow rather than a duvet! I sometimes drape the duvets on the washing line to air...but of course today it is full of washing!
Next on the list of things to do is make up two winter hanging baskets to take to my sister tonight. I always make up her baskets, and as she need new basket frames as well this year I am making them up in my greenhouse here before I trundle off down the M5 and M4.
Then I need to shower and change before going into town to get my neighbour's pension from the PO as well as a bit of shopping before coming home, loading up the car and heading off to sunny Slough....well it won't be as it will be dark by the time I get there!
I am going to a conference in London tomorrow (Society of Garden Designers), and will take the train from Slough. Apparently the underground will be in a state, so I will have to plan things.....
I am spending the Saturday night with sister too...will have to work hard to avoid drinking too much...lil sis tends to drink a lot of white wine...but I can usually manage to get away wilth just a couple of glasses, then top up with water so she keeps seeing me with a full glass and doesn't give me any more!
I have rambled too much just now...must go and do things...
Will get in touch Sunday/Monday,
Have a wonderful weekend everyone :j:j:j:A
