  • Aww pigpen, it brings me great sorrow that you are not with us in the noble way of the dumpling .. *sniffsniff* .. o well.. all the more for us ! :D ( omg nono that was my INSIDE voice saying that !! :P )

Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow MrsM :) and I could never give up buying cookbooks !! the very thought. Granted, I don't buy them very regularly and some of the ones I have Ive had for many years, but give up buying them ? *shudder* Hope you feel better soon Hels_bells but, ugh, Slimfast :( I'm with your friend there, can't stand the taste. Have you tried different varieties of soya milk ? Years ago I didnt used to like it but now I find Provamel quite tasty. Maybe try rice milk ? Also consider alternate sources of calcium - ie green leafy veg, broccoli, nuts, seeds, baked beans and some other pulses, tofu, some dried fruits and also some breads and cereals are fortified with it.

I might think about making corned beef hash ) which I do like very much ) in a week or two but I've only just got through the Spam, I don't think I could face up to it quite yet ! Did quite well today, had about 30 mins brisk walk in total, had ants on a log and the remnants of the spam and rice cakes for lunch, hm cheese and onion pastie, baked spud, sweetcorn and beetroot for tea. Was a bit poorly this evening but that was due to the nausea I get pre and mid menstrual not due to me food ;) felt like comfort food after so popped to the shop and got a Mullerice ! which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Going to have another early night, it definitely helped :) night all !

  • Im a newbie on here and really enjoyed this forum! Mrs Mc, Im going to make corned beef hash tomorrow. Ive had a week off work and really enjoyed making 'proper' meals for my kds with pans and ingredients!
Have yous had eggy-bread (or gypsy toast)? Beat a few eggs up, dip a slice of bread in and lightly fry the bread in olive oil. Spread a bit of HP, or toamto sauce and mmmm deeelishus. Not particulary good for dieters but I kid myself that the eggs and olive oil are doing me good.

Evening Frogga and everyone else....FROGGA, where are you??? Have the courtesy to answer me when I call you please! no respect for your elders miss, that's your problem!

Congratulations to the losers, welcome to the newbies and MrsMCawber, thank you once again for some terrific inspiration.

    Today I have eaten:

    2 Weetabix, small banana, splash milk and spoonful of honey...all the way from Milton, Mass., USA, courtesy of BIL and his bees;

    1 Latte, 2 regular coffees;

Roast lamb, mash, carrot, butternut squash, parsnip, swede and onion
2 apples stewed with cinnamon, small amount of strawberry yogurt.

Feeling quite pleased with myself...think I might concoct a large salad in the morning to snack on through the day as sometimes I am just too lazy to prepare things, have lots of greens in garden and greenhouse.

    Good luck to all.

FROGGA, FROGGA....where on earth is that girl??

We get in trouble if we don't say hello.. and then frogga doesn't answer when we do ;)
Yikes.. she was stearing this wagon.. hope she hasn't left the wheel
Roast lamb  .... i adore lamb... but getting it out here is like looking for rocking horse droppings  ..... Pork is the biggy out here... you can get a bit of lamb -but it never appeals... they reckon they are more into mutton..which im yet to find... think that may be my next great mission...find mutton ;)

Hi Sand dancer and welcome on board.....corned beef hash can be quite reasonable on the cals... i use mainly swede, carrot and onion... nice n low cal... a few potatoes and a bit of parsnip to bulk it out and it used to be a full tin of corned beef.. but i have reduced the amount down slowly and hubby hasn't noticed -im now down to 1/3 of a tin..and that made 4 portions and soup:rotfl: i have never got eggy bread my niece loves it though... now fried bread :o ..we love that -mind i can't remember the last time i had it!

Kittyscarlett.... a fellow dumpling fan :grinheartwe agree again... now just ned to get you eating brussels:think: ..... The cook book famine will only be temporary ;) ... may well get hubby to get me a couple for xmas.. he never knows what to get... but which ones

You can always freeze the part of the corned beef you don't use and save it for another week.... my chunk was out of the freezer today.. hubby will insist on leaving it in the fridge  and i don't eat it unless in hash :D

well i went for a quick bath... 1 hour later i emerged, plucked, scrubbed, de-fuzzed, cleansed, toned, moisturised... the works and now feel rather lovely.. all fresh and smelly... thought i would treat myself as we have been talking about today :D

  • Just what I was thinking...WHERE'S FROGGA!!!!?.
    Perhaps the ponds frozen over.
Hope you have a good weigh in tomorrow MrsMC and thanks for all the lovely recipes, you must be a fantastic typist to rattle all these posts as quickly as you do,I,m one of the one finger brigade,I swear that somebody keeps moving these keys around whilst I'm not looking.
Kittyscarlet..what is ants on a log? something on celery?

Today :- b/fast porridge, fresh pineapple
    lunch home made veg soup
    snack apple
    Dinner chicken salad & sweetcorn
small piece of h/made apple pie
    snack fruit yogurt
    hot milky drink for bedtime.
What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots
  • Grub today: lunch - two slices of cheese-spread on toast again, tea - turkey curry, rice and green beans, breakfast/supper - Smart Price wheat and rice cereal with semi-skimmed milk again, snacks were a packet of crisps and a Jaffa Cake. Unsurprisingly, I feel quite stuffed now. No deprivation here :)

Exercise was a brisk walk to the Post Office and back. Just under a mile altogether, and I did it in 30 minutes. If anything was healthier after, it was my respect for Roger Bannister :)

I also plucked my eyebrows last night, probably a bit *too* much, and in a minute am going to use the Wilkinsons cheapy black hairdye that's been on top of the bathroom cabinet for about six months (greying? What, me? ;) ). If the scream heard in the morning is not PigPen getting on the scales, then it's me waking up with green hair :)

Edited to add that green really suits some people though - where are you, frogga? Hope all is OK.
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!
  • Nope.... you will never ever get me eating Satan's Testicles au naturel, MrsM - the only way on this earth I will eat them is in bubble and squeak and thats only with lots of onion and black pepper !!

Hello sand dancer and welcome ! glad you're enjoying the thread :) I like eggy bread ( funny cos I'm not that keen on fried bread although I like bread dipped in bacon fat and then toasted .. ) but I have to cook it in real butter ! it may not be a dieters item but its certainly an OS item and perfectly ok to eat in moderation.

Yes Turbo_Gran, ants on a log involves celery :D an American idea I believe... nice big stalks of celery ( cut in half for ease of handling ) drag some peanut butter down the middle of 'em then sprinkle on raisins - voila, ants on a log ! sounds odd, tastes great, satisfies my weirdywoo salt and sweet together cravings ! :D

    :T OooooooooooooooooooooBlimey, SORRY! I'm here!:T

Just been really tricky getting on the PC as the tadpoles have been hogging it! and we've been out and about , sorry guys xxx:o

All is absolutly fine, just been spending a nice week doing stuff together, we went swimming yesterday. Well I didn't go in , I just watched. Thank heavens the tadpoles are now old enough and competant enough to go in on their own. I know it must sound bizzare for a frog to say this but, I really hate swimming. I hate EVERYTHING about it! I hate sharing water with loads of people is suspect of peeing in it. I hate the plasters , and worse , that float about in the water. I hate the way people look at you in your cossy. I hate the way all your clothes get wet when you try and change in the cubicles. And I hate the way some "ladies" flaunt their nakedness when changing ~ rubbing all their bits dry for all to see! Even if you try REALLY hard not to look , I always seem to look accidentally , then I look like a weirdo!:o Anyway , as you can see I don't think much of swiming!

If the weather is ok we'll be going for a walk along Felixstowe See Front today x No doubt the tadpoles will want a stick of rock but I'll resist ( I don't like it so it wont be difficult!)

Have a good day all , and if I don't manage to post later it's not because I don't love you xxxx:kisses3:
