    Evening Frogga and all,

Made some rye bread (Lidl mix) last night, it was lovely so I had four small slices this morning with scrape of butter and crabapple jelly, white coffee

Lunch....one slice rye bread ( you can tell I don't like it!), scrape butter and white coffee.

Dinner....roast porksteak, roast onion, swede and kohlrabi, mashed with finely chopped onion, lots pepper, baked potato and slice white bread.

Nothing else so far....may have apple or banana and some water.

    Congratulations to all losers!

Well I,m home;don't know whether to be pleased or annoyed!
sat down to a lovely plate of steak & kidney pudding, chips and mushy peas,
(not exactly cordon bleu but yummy) and do you know what ,I could barely manage half of it,I think these smaller portions that I have been having have shrunk my tum,I would have eaten this with ease at one time and then had the gateau but I didn't even look at the sweet menu,I used to check that out first at one time, so son no1 got off light,or his wallet did!
Going to bed now before I start to feel deprived and go rooting through the pantry:naughty:

  • Welcome Rachel,

What works for me personally is smaller portions and going to the gym.

I'm sure all the other lovely ladies will be along soon with their tips and tons and tons of positive encouragement!

There is also a Christmas Challenge just started, so please feel free to join up.

Well done with taking the first step.

Hi everyone, Well chuffed this week 2 pounds off! At last a way of eating that works for me. Used to eat for England, plates piled high with food and clearing up leftovers. Now I find if I stick to eating every 3 to 4 hrs, (if hungry before then, its not real hunger) and what I want not what I think I should eat (as Saint Paul Mckenna ordained) smaller portions and only fruit for snacks. I was a struggle at first hunger pains awful, food on mind all the time, but now just like Turbo gran can't eat big amounts now. At work if busy I just tell them I have to eat something regular with my meds, so must have a meal break. Good luck everyone keep chipping away to reveal the angel inside you.

  • Hello Rachel and welcome :) and morning everyone else !

What works for me personally ( gods you all must be bored of hearing this, but ) :

Not denying myself anything but not overeating : ie sensible portions of food and not eating most of a whole cake/several packets of crisps/block of cheese/best part of a loaf of bread all in one go. If you do overdo it, don't beat yourself up - just start again the next day.

Cooking from scratch as much as possible - that way I can control what goes into my meals and not waste money on " diet " products. I do buy some low fat products because I enjoy them but I also perosnally feel that whole milk and small amounts of real butter etc are healthier than low fat spread etc.

Snacking is fine but make wiser choices fruit, veg and decent carbs rather than crisps and choc etc.. And keep the ol' fluid intake up.

Getting more active the OS way ( have cancelled gym membership ) walking, housework etc - I'm making more frequent use of my stairs ;)

Coming here to this thread ! is always good to see what others are up to and give/receive support, and the great thing is you can do it in the comfort of your own home and whatever time you like !

Most of all, not thinking of this as a diet, cos it ain't. RELAX ! This is the way I am going to think and eat for the rest of my life. There's no " best before " date on this.

I was wondering, since this thread is so very popular and its getting harder for newer people to read back through the posts, what about a weekly thread ? with maybe a sticky just setting out the original objectives ? Just a suggestion, but what do you think, board guides and fellow losers ?

Its a cold damp dank old day, I'm trying to fight off PMT but I am pleased with myself for yesterday - everything went according to plan, I ate loads LOL but it was all good stuff and went and did laundry etc after I'd finished work instead of napping - I even got an early night, blimey ! Only work 4 hours today which is good, I'm counting the minutes already :D have a good day, folks !

    Morning all

    Hello and welcome rachel021967

    Welcome on board :D ......

Like madsmum.... i have cut back my potions... plain and simple i was "a greedy moo before":p
I have found that rather than think this is a "diet" -which to me has a start and a finish date (the finish date being the start of eating my old way again:naughty: ) i now say that i am making healthier choices, this is going to be the way i eat for the rest of my life. So im still eating proper meals all home made:-
    shepherds pie
    roast dinners
    steak pie
    toad in the hole
    fish n parsley sauce etc
I just eat smaller portions, i have been doing this for 10 weeks now and im just about to shrink my portions further - as my stomach has got used to less - but now the portions are starting to leave me feeling too full ... not something i ever thought id say :rotfl:

I haven't "banned" anything and have made an effort not to lable anything "naught, bad, etc" cos then i will want it more ;) i have told myself that i can have anything i want... but find that im not wanting choc, crisps etc.... and i know that its because i can have them if i want them..im like a kid tell me i can't have something and i will eat 2

Oh and the other thing i have learnt to do is eat what i want, when i want... so if i want cereal for dinner i will, i have had left over veg and HM stuffing for brekkie :p ... i refuse to be dictated to by a clock.. so if im ready for lunch at 11am or 2pm thats when i eat ...

Posting on here with these lovely folks is also proving to be a major help.. it has been far more help than any other weight loss club i have been to.. and there are lots of those :D

I hope you find this thread loads of help....:D

Turbo Gran .... If i was you i would be thrilled to bits.. you picked what you wanted, enjoyed it and stoped when you were full :T . They reckon that has a lot to do with why slim people are slim.... I always used to look at a menu by going to the puds.. deciding which one i was having and then working backwards :rotfl: I never gave my system a chance to say "no thankyou"... i wanted that pud regardless :o
You never no No1 son.. might think that mmm that was a cheap night and take you again ;) .... go on get to work on him :rotfl: You should say .. "you do realise that as i only had one course.. you owe me another one next month";)
So well done on going out, enjoying yourself and stopping when you were full:T

Jinny...... well done on your loss....Its great that you have found what works for you... looks like we are all shrinking those portions, without giving up everything we like...result... keep up the good work:T

Well i had my 2 weetabix for dinner mmmm and then an apple later... and that was it... tummy happy:T
Hubby got back from the golf...he won :j .... so he now has a new golf bag..to go with the new trolley i just got him for xmas... his old one conked:rolleyes:

Im having my weetabix in a moment.. with a mug of tea
lunch will be crisp breads with low fat cream cheese probably
and dinner is cornedbeef hash with dumplings.. well dumpling for me.... i love that dinner....

Its weigh day tomorrow.. good luck to the others who are on the scales then too.... I have never felt so calm about food, and weight loss.. non of this panic starving the day before weigh day... followed by over eating as soon as i have weighed....im sure thats a pattern most of us recognise :p

Morning frogga... not long now..... 6 days to weigh in :j
Im focusing on my xmas target for now ;) ... still going to be doing just the same thing mind!!!!
Think i may give the carpets a quick going over with the zoflora, hot water and a scrubbing brush.... extra cals you know ;)

well folks - i hope you all have a great day....

  • Morning all! :D

Well, it's cold a yucky yet again, but I'm feeling a lot more positive today so I thought I'd share it around a bit. :j

Went food shopping yesterday and managed to resist all sweeties and sticky things and crisps  and just have lots and lots of veggies etc.

Have already batch cooked and frozen:
    Pumpkin Soup
    Veggie Lasagne
    Veggie Bolognese
    Cauliflower Cheese

and plan to do lots more today, to stop me eating all of it at once! :rotfl:

Have a good day everyone - well done Jinny, Elaine and all the other losers:T and good luck to all the rest of us! :D

EDIT: Morning MrsM & KittyScarlet - you snuck in whilst I was typing...
