:rotfl: :rotfl: Pigpen... i love your style :T ...that one litle line made me choke on my tea
..which i have now wipped of the screen
Hi there Clarabeland welcome on board..... just jump in - no membership needed... although a sense of humour helps
We are all doing different things..but pinching all sorts of tips of each other
The things that all are our eating plans have in common are that we are all done with the faddy milkshakes, replacement bar diets etc..and sick of paying through the nose for the pleasure... there are some lovely ladies on here following WW and SW but as you know that can still be done OS and in fact they activly encourage you to eat home cooked meals most of the time... the rest of us are following our own plans
Myself i have gone back to eating good old home cooked meals - just smaller portions.. after years of doing every diet going, low fat this, sugar free that and still ending up more than a little bit well upholstered... I have finally realised that i need to make changes that i can carry on with for life...and OSing suits that
So far i have shifted 2st in about 10 weeks.. eating toad in the hole, roast dinners, shepherds pie, steak pie and allsorts... I don't go to the gym etc.. i Just do a lot more cleaning... (hate exercise)...
I think the best things i can suggest are... not being to harsh on yourself -try and convinve yourself that it isnt a dreaded "diet" but that you are making healthier choices. There is still room for treats..and please post even if you have had a "bad" day as we all pull each other through days like that..we all have them
Im sure you will get loads of help on here.. they are a wonderful bunch and they have been of more help to me than any weight loss club - and i have tried em all - several times :rotfl:
Oh i have a habbit of rambling- so when you see a silly long post please feel free to skim through and look for your name and the bit i have written specially for you
may save you a lot of time :rotfl:
Eumenidie.. bend over... im next in line if you want a kick up the bum... you don't need one really-im sure you have beaten yourself up about it enough allready
. Well you have now been hoisted back up on the wagon.. and your seat belt is on..well frogga is still stearing  only kidding luv ya really frogga
There seems to be a bread fetish swiping the board at the moment :rotfl:
Must say that monday when hubby was on duty i ended up with 2 slices of HM bread toasted .. although i was for my tea.. and it was bl**dy yummy:D
Once again i think kittyscarlett is rightI do think its the cold weather coming in.... that why i am allready on my "winter" menus.. comfort food is what is needed :T corned beef hash, stews, mash
Well i have vaccumed right through, cleaned all the windows, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen -including cooker/oven:eek: , mopped the floors and wiped down the front door, post box and swilled the steps...:T So im done for the day :rotfl:
Im now off in search of recipes
Have a great day everyoneand good luck with those weigh ins today

Welcome Clarabel ! Once again I have to say " ... as Mrs M said earlier... " LOL ! ( We're starting to to sound like the Two Ronnies ! ) it's not a diet, its about being sensible, making as much food as you can from scratch, rethinking portion size, not denying yourself anything without going overboard, mutual support no matter what kind of a day you're having, getting gradually more active and above all RELAX about food etc !
@ black saturn - it varies from person to person - I don't weigh, nor will I for some time - I have other ways of knowing I am losing weight and that makes me feel more comfortable( and no I am not trying to fool myself etc etc )
I actually managed to sit down and have a bowl of porridge undisturbed this morning, its made me so happy - I can't believe I feel like skipping round the room with joy just because I managed to get some oats down me !:rotfl:" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. This is a great filling soup recipe. If you make it a bit thicker it can serve as a topping for jacket spuds, rice, couscous - whatever.
1 tin Tesco Value red kidney beans + liquid (any other beans or lentils is ok)
2 medium onions finely chopped
1 carrot finely chopped
1 stick celery finely chopped
1 large tomato or half can tomatoes
stock cube or 1 teasp yeast extract
three quarters of a pint of water
sprig rosemary (optional)
2 cloves of garlic
Put all of these in a pan and simmer for half an hour. Blend about half of it.
Lots of green cabbage or any leafy green veg very finely shredded
Add this to the soup and simmer for another 15 minutes. Taste and season if necessary.
The ingredients and quantities are not exact. The only truly essential ingredients are beans of any kind and green leafy vegetables.
Only the beans have any calorie content - I never count veg!!!!!0 -
morning everyone :hello:
I fixed my scales and I weigh the same. I don't mind though, I'm trying harder this week and know it will start working soon...See how relaxed I am?? (thats Paul McKenna that is!)
Today will be
B: museli
L: L/O cottage pieslow cooked lamb, butter beans and loads of veg
snax: melon
Eumenidies: My biggest down fall is bread and butter, toast and butter, crumpets and butter, you name it..I butter it!
Paul Mckenna says:rolleyes: (feel free to shout at me if my Paul McK ramblings get too much!!), take your downfall food and begin to associate with something minging like maggots, imagine the maggots wrigling all over the bread and each time you crave the food conjure up this image. It did help me last night and this morning to shoo away the cravings, however if I REALLY want the bread and I'm being sensible I just don't think of the maggots! I won't be having any bread today which really is a miracle for me.
One thing I can't get to grips with is leaving food on my plate...I just can't!:D
MRS M: don't apologise for you're ramblings, they make the thread! It's lovely to get a mention from you, it makes us feel special!:o
have a good day everyone x0 -
Good morning all, my weigh was this morning and i am pleased to say i have lost 5lbs on the first week of ww core plan. My daughter also lost 5lbs so she is very pleased as well.(She is enarly 23) I made soup early this morning as i knew i would be hungry when i got back and didnt want to put some biscuits in my mouth. I really couldnt do a `diet` that `deprived` and would encourage any-one to look at the ww core plan.I have enjoyed this week because i have been doing lots of cooking, os style of course. So far it has paid off. Heres to another good week:j Will read the posts later as i have housework to do. Pigpen, Its not often i come across people that have more kids than me,I have 7 myself. All the best to every-one, keep going.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0

thanks for the lovely welcome!
Hmmmmnow portion size...therein lies my problem! how are people getting over the 'not full' feeling on smaller meals? I like lots of you don't really want to change my dinner for anyhting faffy or diet-y and i know i simply eat too much!
so, any tricks? I always have lots to drink so my tummy isn't confusd with hunger/thirst, and usually a lot of veg. I just , frankly, am greedy! I know this is going to be hard, but I'm really determined. I want to lose a stone by xmas if i can...fingers crossed!

Morning everyone
I had my major treat yesterday - OH and I split a WISPA! Have been wanting one for agggges, and I had about 2/5ths of it - so just under half! My diet was otherwise perfect yesterday - wholemeal toast breakfast, yoghurt, HM soup for lunch and HM chicken curry w/ small amount of rice and cucumber/pepper salad.
Today:
Breakfast: museli w/ semi skimmed
Lunch: salad, w/ leftover rice (no dressing), baby tomatoes
Snack: seeds / dried apricots
Dinner: Cod steak, parsley sauce, veggies
I have yet to get into skipping, but promise to very soon. Would love an exercise bike!!! x0 -
Well OH has declared my couscous a hit. Just need to remember what I did to it
I was bored and cold waiting for the boiler man so:-
Fried an onion and a chopped roasted red pepper (from a lidl jar). Added a good squeeze of sun dried tomato paste.
Put plain couscous in a pan with a beef stock cube and a teaspoon of curry paste (for taste not to make it spicy). Poured the appropriate amount of boiling water over. Left for 5 mins.
Stirred in the onion and pepper. Then added chopped black olives to my portionworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I've found a cure for the sugar craving.. jelly babies.. I do like them.. but feel REALLY sick after eating 2-3.. One battle fought!! Just keep me away from the haribo starmix!! lol
I had leftover lamb hotpot for lunch... and a pint of tea!! lol.. literally!!
How/when do people squeeze any exercise in?
I have an excellent aerobic DVD, which I actually.. *gulp* LIKE to do.. but I never have the floor space or the time without ankle biters and if I do I am really worried in case people come round.. I don't want close family to know I am actually bothered that I look like a bag of potatoes and feel like a bag of suet.
The one good point is most people think I am about 9 stone.. haha.. I say and then what about when I put the other leg on the scales?? But I find it a bit pointless losing weight if noone is going to notice.. if I mention losing weight everyone says if you lose any weight you'll fade away/you look fine as you are.. the point being I don't FEEL fine and I know I could lost 3 stone and STILL not fade away! (5ft3 and 11st5 2 weeks ago) I was so distraught by that I daren't weigh myself again and I have been really careful.. apart from the whole bar of chocolate I ate the other day. I decided it was best to eat it all in one go and try again the next day.
I considered weightwatchers.. but what if someone was there that I know?? I don't want ANYONE to know..
If any of you met me you'd think I was completely off my trolley with that comment.. I am the most bouncy, outspoken, outgoing person most people know.. you know everyone has a friend who is a 'nutter'..?? .. that's me.. so I'm told!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Mine was to dish up about 2/3 of the "usual" portion. Leave the rest in the pan on the cooker/in the oven to keep warm.
If you are REALLY hungry you can go get some more. More likely, you will eat what's on your plate and then be able to save the extra for a lunch portion for another dayworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
