    Pigpen, you sound like me!

Haribo starmix - or goldbears - eat em by the packet!! ooops - USED to ;) Was the worst when driving longer distances as I used to have a pack in my door and munch on the motorway :o

As for people thinking you weigh less than you do - yup. No-one ever believes me if I tell them my weight. They usually think I weigh about 2 stone less than I do  I have lost a stone and no-one has noticed (other than OH but he knew about it anyway) :( People have noticed the clothes I've dug out of the wardrobe that fit me again now (after about 2+ years) they keep saying ooh is that new? ;).

Too scared to join SW or WW in case I know someone or in case they look at me and think I don't need to lose any weight - but I'm not quite into the "healthy" BMI yet so I do need to. Plus I have more clothes to get back into :D

  • Gosh, PigPen. The weight, the height, the feeling for the need for secrecy, the view of other people that you're not as big as you actually are, being seen as outgoing and lively... the shape, size, attitude - your entire post could have been written by me.

It's scary how often I've read this thread and felt like I've found *myself* posting back at me! :)

    Hello CLARABEL...

I will be the 1st to confess to being a greedy moo..well i was...

I use a smaller plate... i had an awful problem with leaving anything on my plate...once it is there..i would eat it  .... so now i put out a smaller dinner... telling myself that if i am still genuinly hungry 30mins after finishing -then i can go and get something more... the 30 mins gives my system time to register that i have eaten.. and believe it or not i have never yet had to go back for anything...

I also make swaps/trades... if i am doing steak and mushroom pie then i allready have carbs in the pastry so i don't do potatoes with it..just plenty of veg. roast dinners...I do either - roasties, mash, yorkies OR stuffing not all 4 :o ... it sounds odd, but it actually works... even my hubby finds that he is comfy when finished - not fit to bust :rotfl: .. and i know another lady on here (sorry can't remember who:o ).. tried doing just yorkies n veg with her roast and she and hubby were both satisfied with it... Its worth a try...

I hope that you will find that by eating smaller portions or really tasty food, you will be satisfied quicker...

I must admit that im about to reduce my meals down further as now my system has got used to eating less..so now my smaller meals are now making me feel too full:T

Elaine :T and :T for your DD too... hope you are feeling really pleased with yourself.. thats brilliant:j

Ellas - glad you got the scales mended :T ..and isn't it just amazing when you finally feel relaxed around food .. you are obviously getting on great with Paul ;) ... what you are saying about linking your fave foods with horrid stuff... I tried that with chocolate -thinking of whitebait -tried it once...jees it manky  ... and now the thought and smell of choc makes me feel physicaly sick..all squiffy...result:rotfl:

Black saturn... i weigh in every friday morning.. i can't trust myself with monthly weigh ins ;)

This is it...:T on your loss..nice one :D .... glad you too are feeling less like you are being punished and can now enjoy what you eat:D

Rockie.. feta cheese....mmmmm i love that.. with avocado mmmm and glad that you are enjoying your journeys a little more :D

Hels_Bells... i wouldn't like the idea of exercising in front of loads of folk either.. exercise bike sounds like a good investment - especially if it was free :j

Kyle... you will soon get out or "holiday" mode..... you have xmas to look forward to now ;) .... and you have just put me out of my misery... just spotted your name ... don't know why.. thought you were a MR ... now i know :rotfl:-you will soon get that extra shifted...:D

well i will get off again

    tatty bye :D

Im currently in a 16 too!

it seems to be the scariest size! you haven't got far to go before you can't shop at the normal shops! my christmas goal is a size 14, my summer goal is a size 12!

2 dress sizes doesn't seem too bad!

my food today has been quite good

breakfast - slimfast shake (using up old ones V MSE)
lunch tomato soup and chunk of bread
dinner salad and quiche (Have to remember the no potatoes idea)
Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help? :p

Weight at lightbulb moment 13 7lb
goal for Christmas 12 7lb! :rotfl:
  • Just for reference - most of the " normal " shops I go to, ie not Evans etc - stock clothes up to a size 20 or 22. I don't consider 16 to be " scary " - frankly as I have already stated I would be more than happy to get to that size and stay there for the rest of my life. And I'm saying that as a shorta*se of 5ft3. There's no point in me aiming much below that as from the age of puberty onwards I've had a hefty sized bosom and whilst its possible some other parts of me might at some point in the future fit in under size 16, the top half wouldn't co operate :)

I think the Evans size 16 is more like an everywhere else 18.. it literally falls off me!! I do have to buy Evans shoes though!! The size 32 hotpants do baffle me a little though!!

I'm only 5ft 3 as well and have a fairly ample bosom too.. currently a DD but on a 31 inch chest measurement that is pretty big! (my sis is a 30G!)

I'm not doing well already.. those 3 cereal bars are delish though!!! They were gluten & wheatfree if that helps? and 'only' 135 calories.. each! ..

slowcooked chicken for dinner tonight (I get the legs!) with jacket wedges (I'll have about 5) and peas (I'll have heaps!!) should pull that average back..

I must work out the calorific value of my 'staples' (not the metal kind!)

I do think the number of cuppas is my downfall!!

    eta..

Ok.. I currently eat around 1100-1400 calories a day, apparently! I'm told not enough fat and too much protein.. I only have meat once a day normally and rarely eat eggs or anything else proteiny.. so if I were to reduce protein it would be gone entirely.

Not enough fat.. eh?? HOW?? I've just devoured 3 chocolate covered cereal bars!!

I am supposed to reduce snack and add breakfast.. ok but I'll have to stay in bed until lunch time because I simply cannot eat until lunch or I am physically sick. Or I could just have a bowl of coco pops! lol

Maybe I should try a more accurate calculator ROFL!!!

I don't think I could eat mroe if I tried!

Hi there found this recipe and am going to give them a go later this week.. thought id share it :D

Now i know its not super low in cals.. but i would only put vegies with it so for me i don't think it's too bad..and would be pretty inexpensive to do... thought it would be great for those with kids too ;)

I have decided that i will omit the celery.. don't have any in -but i do have everything else:p but I will add some finely chopped onion and some grated carrot...

Will report back when i have made them... unless someone else makes them first :p

    PORK N CELERY POPOVERS - SERVES 4

    sunflower oil for brushing
    150g plain flour
    1 egg white
    250ml skimmed milk
    120ml water
    350g lean minced pork
    2 celery sticks finely chopped
    3tbsp rolled oats
    2tbsp snipped chives (optional)
    1tbsp worcestershire sauce
    seasoning
    1. pre-heat oven to 220c/425f/gas 7
    2. brush 12 deep patty tins with a very little oil
    3. place the flour in a bowl.. make a well in the centre and add the egg white and milk and beat..
    4. gradually beat in the water - beating until smooth and bubbly
    5. place the mince, celery, oats, chives, worcestershire sauce and seasoning in a bowl - mix well
    6. divide into 12 small balls and place in the patty tins
    7. cook for 10 mins
    8. remove from oven and quickly pour in the batter
    9. cook for a further 20-25 mins, or until well risen and golden...
    nutrition per portion:-
    344cals
    9.09g fat
    2.7g sat fat
    61.62mg cholesterol
    2.37g fibre

Sorry - nearly forgot... for those on WW its 5.5 points

  • I get through a phenomenal amount of cuppas too. I only drink black coffee with no sugar, and have done for years, so calorie-wise my cuppas don't sound bad. That is, until you take into account the equally phenomenal amount of time spent sat around on my growing butt drinking them :) I ought to move more, really.

I've decided today that I might get a bit further if I ditch one more piece of 'expert' advice, and listen to what my body says about it instead. 'They' say that you should have breakfast every morning, but it's probably not 'they' who find it a struggle to eat and an inconvenience to fit in whenever they try, and it's not 'they' who binge most evenings after spending hours fighting the urge to eat after the 'expert' decreed cut-off time of 8pm, when the unwanted Weetabix of earlier would have done quite nicely and seen off the binge too.

Which is a long-winded way of saying 'I'm having my breakfast for supper in future, even if I feel like having it at 9.30pm, because that's what's always worked best for me'. I can't help thinking that listening to one (or more. Much more) expert words too many over the years instead of listening to the body that did me well enough as a kid until I started ignoring it is a lot of the reason that the aforementioned body is in the mess it's in today.

That's not to say I think a lot of advice isn't valid. Much of what we're doing on this thread is echoed in common-sense slimming books. But as Saint Paul of McKenna says, 'eat when you're hungry'. Any expert that says otherwise should be made to eat cereal. Still in the box, and swallowed sideways :)

Edited to add that the recipe sounds nice, MrsM. I've performed the usual scan for 'the compulsory ingredient that someone in the family won't like', and found nothing. Ace :)
