  • I was going to say morning all but the afternoon seems to have slipped up behind me without me noticing, as the bishop said to the actress ;)

Grats on your loss there Turbo Gran ! Glad to hear you have got back some of the festive spirit MrsM. The way I would think of it is, that time of the year is the real turn of the year, when the shortest darkest day comes and goes, so it’s a good time to remember your dad in a positive way – time being the best healer for pain like that and now you have your loving OH so you can celebrate having him as well J and I hope you have a lovely day together today as well J

Haribo, don’t worry, I didn’t think you were lecturing – you are just concerned and that’s fine.

Frogga – love the home cinema idea :D Good luck with the vege stewathon but I am sure you will find ways to vary the taste enough to keep it interesting. Good luck also with the Christmas challenge – I won’t be joining in but that’s not because its not a good idea, its an excellent idea !! – its just that I don’t celebrate Christmas at all ( although I thoroughly enjoy one day in the year when the blinking shops aren’t open and there’s hardly any traffic on the road ) so its not a time marker for me…and don’t eat much differently then to any other Bank Holiday in the year so I’ll be just continuing as normal. Will be following everyones progress with interest though !

Alfiesmum – if you haven’t gained weight then that’s doing well, even if you’re not thrilled by it ! as MrsM said – maybe try adjusting something i.e. eating little and often, being a little more active – to try and kickstart yourself.

Thriftmonster – glad you are finding the thread helpful :D if evening snacking is a problem, maybe plan to snack but healthily ? cut up veggies, pitta bread, fruit, etc and healthy hm if possible dips like salsa, humous, hm yoghurt or low fat cheese based dips with fresh herbs etc.

Rockie – hope you are feeling better today – don’t worry I turned into a breadmonster yesterday also, trying not to let it happen today also but its not looking good !

Madsmum and Hels_bells – welcome indeed ! hope you find the thread useful – I find it very helpful indeed and no one is judgemental if you have bad days or weeks etc – good luck with your Christmas challenge ! and welcome back Kyle J

Well, I have not started off so well despite good intentions. Started off walking to Waitrose but after about 10 minutes started to get panicky ( stupid b****y agoraphobia, sigh ) stood still and tried to talk myself out of it, didn’t work so had to do a turn around to the local shops. Felt suddenly very hungry on the way home so stopped at a local sandwich shop ( that makes up from scratch ) and bought a hoisin chicken bap – only ended up eating half of it when I got home, the bread wasn’t all that nice and the chicken had cooled down too much. So brunch ended up consisting of dairylea light on toast, handful of cherry tomatoes and a packet of turkey and stuffing flavoured crisps L
I really don’t want to spend a glorious day like today sat on my ample bum in front of the computer or lolloping about in front of the TV. I have got housework and laundry to do but am feelingly childishly resentful and don’t want to do any of it. There is a more than a touch of PMT within all this.I know I will feel better if I get out and about today its just making myself do it and staying out there. If I could magically beam myself a la Star Trek to the seafront or up on the Downs I would be incredibly happy and walk for miles. Its just the getting past all the built up trafficky peopley bit that’s the problem J

Hi kitty, sorry you're feeling a bit down.

I'm going for a walk with the Tadpoles to Nacton Shores this afternoon. It's a really lovely walk along the River Orwell and under the Orwell Bridge. We are meeting up with Mr Frogs sisters and Dad and all the Tadpoles cousins. Come a long and join us , even if only in your imagination. The sun is shining, the air is fresh there will be loads to see and when we get back to the car we'll all have a flask of tea in the picnic area. Keep all this in your mind , then maybe you'll fancy a little walk in reality xx

    Deep breath xx.......................................

  • Hehehe. Thanks Frogga :D I fancy a walk no problem, its just the getting out to somewhere that I'd enjoy walking in thats the difficulty. Have just had a look at the bus timetable and there's one leaving in 20 mins that will get me to two places either 20 or 40 minutes away where there's a river to walk along.

So that's probably enough time for me to boil the kettle for a flask of tea, pack my bag and get on the damn bus before I realise what I've done ;)

Hope you have a lovely time with the tadpoles !

    Hi Frogga and everybody else,

Have been feeling more active to-day, probably as it is so nice and sunny...not very warm but pleasant.

    Today I have eaten:

Breakfast/Lunch: fruit and fibre cereal with some dried mixed fruit, milk and coffee.

Not feeling hungry yet, think that I will have pasta with dried mushrooms for dinner, OH having lo ham and cabbage from yesterday, just don't fancy it so not sure what I will have. Bread proving so may have some with salad from garden and salami or chorizo.

Kitty Scarlett...you are doing great...go for your walk

    Welcome to newbys

Oh Alright Frogga, I can hear you in the background...will join the Christmas challenge...will get to 13.5 stone, anything more of a challenge would send me straight into the jampot!

    Good luck to all

Hello you lovely lot... haven't been online since Friday evening as had OH's parents visiting. Has been a bit hard to be OS, what with going out for dinner with them (anniversary celebrations!) but have eaten reeeelatively healthily...

    Friday:
Evening - HM tomato / chili pasta sauce w/ mushroom tortellini (made two batches of tomato/pepper/chili soup too)

    Saturday:
Breakfast: grilled bacon roll w/ poached egg
Dinner: (ate out), grilled salmon on tomatoey pasta
Evening: 2 glasses of wine, 2 small bottles of Leffe beer (VERY NAUGHTY but my favourite, and OH's parents brought it back from France for us).

    Sunday:
Breakfast; brown roll w/ lime marmalade (everyone else had croissants!)
Lunch: (ate out) aubergine / mozarella sour dough bun, salad, few chips
Dinner: wholemeal pasta w/ pesto and mushrooms. Small glass of wine

    Monday: (off work)
Breakfast: wholemeal brown roll w/ lime marmaldade
Lunch: white (!) small roll w/ chicken and mayo, and half a babybel!
    Snack: A CORNETTO!!!!
Dinner: leftover pasta made into a egg frittatta, w/ salad

Back on the wagon today, everyone. Sorry about the Cornetto! Tried to find a low fat alternative but Woolworth and Superdrug's freezers had melted.

    Today:

Breakfast: brown roll w/ lime marmalade, Activia yoghurt
Lunch: HM tomato/red pepper/chili soup w/ brown roll
Snack: have ryvita and light philadelphia with me but not hungry
Dinner: HM chicken balti w/ basmati

Am not hoping for too much on weigh day this week, but am going to start skipping tomorrow to limit any damage!! Love you all x

    Ecky thump

I don't know, i tootle off for a few hours and come back and have missed allsorts... get ready folks.. I can feel one of my mammoth rambles coming on - you have been warned :p - you may want to just look for your names and read that bit :rotfl:

Firstly HELLO and WELCOME to the new joiners :T ... hope you all find this thread as usefull and encouraging as I do...

Taplady.... I have had the drastic weight losses before, but im now happy to just keep chipping away at all this weight..afterall i have spent many years lovingly collecting it :p ... Its worth losing it slower for me - just not to have that same fanatical attitude to food.... Im determined that this time i am setting up eating habbits that will stay in place for life...
Hope its a nice bit of cake at the WI ;) - i look forward to hearing what cake folks have been having, more than if i ate it myself  very strange:o

Thriftmonster.... we aren't that scary are we :rotfl: My hubby being away used to be my danger time where food is concerned too... I think its a cross between bordom, not wanting to faff around cooking for myself and no-one being there to see what you eat.... still he isn't away as often now thank god.... mind you he is away for a week next month ..still could be worse.. he could be with the other poor souls in Afghanistan/Iraq ....

Rockie ... when you are hungry next time... i wouldn't fight it... your body obviously wanted something... perhaps you could try little n often with the food so your body doesn't get chance to feel hungry.. I have days like that-where im eating bits n bobs all day - but I do try and stick to healthier options.... not always possible i know ;) . but anyway..1 day is nothing to worry about... just carry on as though it never happened... you will be fine :D

    Woo Hoo frogga

Count me in for the crimble challenge.. i find it helps to have smaller targets in between the beginning and the BIG end target.... hmmmm so, being the optomistic soul I am (or should that read loopy:confused: )... im going to go for shifting 1.5 st :rotfl: ... well that would be a loss of 1 kilo a week, which im managing at the moment.. just need to up my exercise, and get my bum of the rather comfy sofa..... and then that would be 3.5 st off in total....
    So there you go :-

    Mrs M --- crimble challenge - 1.5 st off in 9 weeks

    Madsmum... welcome.....
What Greek fod did you have? I love a lot of the greek food... went to Kefalonia in July it was bliss...if somewhat hot 120 in the shade a lot of the time
My Inspiration..oooh i have lots...that holiday was mine n hubbies 1st-went with 6 family and i know that next time we go i want to be slimmer and healthier so i can make the most of it... Bananas, donuts... sounds like a shopping list :rotfl: ... i would loved to have gone on - but would have died if the life jacket didn't fit...
I want to get my original wedding rings back on my fat pork sausage fingers :p
And most importantly i guess is we want a family... No joy after 5 years, the weight can't be helping... and im not prepared to have the drugs etc on offer until my body is at a weight where it won't reduce our chances... I have just lost 10% of my body weight - whilst on here with these lovely inspirational folks.. and i know that has great medical benefits.. but i have loads more to shift too...
Heck bet you wish you hadn't asked now :rotfl: .. hope you find it as helpfull on here as i do....:D

Thats not a bad amount Kyle.. especially with the portions they reckon you get in the USA.. so well done :T ... great dedication in jumping straight back into the healthy eating too. Hope you had a glorious time..

    Hels_Bells ... hello and welcome too:D ..

Kittyscarlett... thanks for that :D .. its strange.. It will 20 years this birthday since we lost dad... but for years now - even though im the youngest, im still the only one who can talk about him without getting upset.... guess the others haven't delt with it very well.... I look at it as OK i only had my dad for 16 years... but he had his first strokes in his 20s and was one of the first people to have a replacement mitral valve in (he was a guinepig) - and if it hadn't been for that 3 out of 5 of us wouldn't be here. plus my dad couldn't work - so whils mum worked dad raised us - so i got 16 jam packed years... with loads of cracking memories .. so now i celebrate for him too - hubby lost his dad very young too, so they didn't get xmas / birthdays... but now i have him into xmas too:D .. ooh that was very deep n meaningful:o
Sorry you aren't feeling great today... hope it lifts soon.. you want to treat yourself.. some ME time sounds like a good idea... have a long hot soak and pamper yourself...thats if you haven't jumped on that bus and gone for a tootle :D

look I did warn you all it was gonna be a ramble :o

Well dinner has changed.. we didn't go to the golf course...shame :rotfl: we nipped to Ratio - a huge supermarket thing.. had a poddle around there.. went up and down every alley - including the many choc/cake goody ones...
but remained strong -ignoring the stollen, the choc covered marzipan etc.... although i did get some liver...yes i know - my freezers are full but i "needed" liver... i only had on meals worth in the freezer :p so i got some and have made a huge liver casserole - so that is for dinner with mashed potato n swede and lots of veggies  ... and i am definitely not doing any more shopping for the next 4 weeks :D Im not.. honest :o

well i had better get off.. hubby is out golfing all day tomorrow, so i only have to feed myself.... so im putting out an extra dinner tonight - to nuke tomorrow;) ...
im goint to whizz through the house too, extra cals to burn and all that...

well folks have a great day..well what is left of it by the time you have read all this

I'm kind of up for some weight loss... however...

I have arthritis which is KILLING me at the moment.. mainly due to the colder damper weather but in part because I am a lard@rse...I can say that about myself!

I have a VERY limited diet.. I don't do spicy.. I do bland and cheap and cheerful.. loadsa veg, bit of meat (chicken, pork or turkey) Fish I'll eat but not very sure how to cook it. Not very adventurous in the kictchen.. no maybe that's not entirely accurate.. adventure isn't the issue.. it is affording the 'new' ingredients and having a new taste I lack confidence in... what if I spend all that money and noone likes it.. I hate waste!

SO.. I'll need inspiration, motivation (lack of pain is a good one to start with!) and some good wholesome cheap recipes that the children will eat too.

I just live on rice krispies.. it makes my life simple! lol

Off to concoct a lamb hotpot for dinner, with dumplings & rice.. so I'll have.. rice krispies!!!! (I don't like lamb)
