Well done to everyone on what looks like a good week.

It turns out i probably should have had that binge last Saturday the guilt might have kept me on the straight and narrow this week. WI last sunday was a stay the same which i was quite pleased with but this week ive been ill, totm (which doesnt come monthly for me so is horrendous when it turns up), had a fall so struggling to get about and just generally eating rubbish, not exercising and eating too much. the result being ive gained 6lb, i mean thats ridiculous. Am going to stay with in laws on tuesday so no idea how im going to eat well, think i will just aim for sensible portions

so if youll have me id like to jump back on that wagon

You didn't get off the wagon..you just stopped off to admire the view... and now we are off again :D -be warned frogga is stearing -- so hold on tight ;)

Don't beat yourself up, TTOTM is probably responsible for a chunk of that showing up on the scales... loads of fluid no doubt, i don't suffer any pain with MTOTM but still hold water.... so don't worry
And if you have had a fall and be less mobile than usual..that will have contributed too...

So just start again where you left off... you will be fine.... :D

  • Hi Everyone - hope you are all having a great Sunday. I have got back on the wagon today after about 10 days of rubbish food choices, though thankfully no binges, resulting in a 3lb gain on the scales this morning, however TOTM is three days late so that may account for a bit of fluid gain. I had a flu type bug all last week (sore throat, cough etc) and only started to feel properly better today, so I decided that I would celebrate by starting back on the diet. I ended up in A&E yesterday with palpitations and felt really scared and guilty that I hadn't lost any weight since I was last there - I NEED to get this weight off and then I can have it fixed once and for all.

Mrs M - IMHO the oatibix are rank! I love weetabix and thought I would love the oatibix too but they are just vile! Alot of other people on the OS board seem not to like them too, so I would suggest getting the smallest packet to try if you buy them, just in case. I like my weetabix with hot skimmed milk, a handful of raisins and a sprinkling of cinnamon.

Today I didn't have breakfast as I had a long lie in until 11am:o , but have just had lunch of hm pasta bake , brocolli, carrots, cauliflower and some sliced roast pork. I had about half my normal portion size and worked out the calories to be 538 for the lot, which isn't too bad. I never used to count the calories in vegetables but was surprised to find that the ones I just had came to over 100 calories (I have been using Fitday). I think Fitday is great value for money - I paid £15 for the programme and this means that I can programme in the nutri info for the stuff I use alot of and then I don't get bogged down scrolling through the american stuff. It took a couple of hours but was worth it I reckon. I am not sticking to a diet plan as such, just eating smaller portions of my normal hm stuff and keeping a check on the calories to make sure that I don't go over 1800 a day.

I have a mountain of ironing to do today as I haven't felt like doing any this week with my flu, so had better get back to it. - Might do an online shop too so that I am not tempted by all the goodies in the supermarket. - I don't know why I do it - I want and need to lose weight soooooo much but I just can't seem to resist food - I have a strong will in every other aspect of my life - don't smoke, don't drink, have cut out all caffeine and chocolate because of my heart, but yet I still can't resist cakes and biscuits and BREAD!! I have tried freezing it like Mrs M does, but I just toast it from frozen:o

    Hi all,
I've ahd a bti of upset tum today so not eaten much, not sure what did it either, ho hum. I have a deadline of thursday for some coursework I'm doing (taking a wee break in between watch L hamilton) so I'm making DH do the dinner. He's got a chicken roasting and it smells great so I might just manage some!

I'm actually a fan of oatibix- I seem to be on my own there, but I'm supposed to be wheat free so I'm used to different tings maybe. I love it with cold milk, not too much and I find it really filling. I also like the minis which are quite a good snack i find when eaten dry.

    Hello all

well i guess i won't be buying any oatabix then ;) ..thanks for the advice folks.... i have really gotten back into weetabix... here they are about £2.25 for 24  ... i can get them for 99p back home (guess what i will be stock piling when i next go home for a visit:p ).. but the other day they had boxes of 12 for roughly £1.25 but they had 100% extra free in :j so i got 7 boxes :o ... i spotted the oatabix and nearly picked a box up but they were about £3 a box..thank you for saving me that :D ..recoveringspendaholic have you tried weetabix with a drop of hot water and tinned evaporated milk? my dad and 1 sis used to love them.... i can still smell them when i think about it...

Keiss - can't believe someone would leave a 15year old to pack his own clothes .. my hubby is 43 and i still go through the "have you got, have you remembered " routine when he is going away without me... :rotfl: If we are going away i pile all his stuff up get him to check it and then i pack it... leaving his towel, toiletry bag and coat for him to pick up... and yep you've guessed it - last time we went home to mums he forgot him toiletries, towel and jacket  .....

Fingers crossed for your weigh in tomorrow :D

recovering spendaholic.. like you i don't smoke, very rarely drink... although a wee glass of port at xmas has to be had ;) and i have always had a problem with food..... i don't know quite what has happened with bread - but i can now resist it - i still have 2-4 slices a week but thats about it... the bread i make is a doddle and isn't as bad as you would think as i use no fat or milk and its stunning.... the fat only helps keep it fresh for longer - mine gets sliced and frozen straight away, and milk gives you a softer crust and we like crusty.. so i don't need that either - so not only are there less cals/fat but its a bit cheaper too :T .. a loaf works out about 40p - at one time me n hubby would demolish a whole loaf as sandwiches in 1 day....:o ...

well i used that soup pork and have made hubby a spicy goulash type soup/stew... it has diced carrot, onion, potatoes, passata, pork stock, red kidney and haricot beans in -and ive added some crushed dried chillies and some smoked sweet paprika.. its rather nice if i say so myself... although not my kind of thing. So that will make 3-4 more flasks for his lunches - its a whole meal in one but no doubt he will still take bread with it :p ... when i stripped the pork off there was exactly 1lb and it only cost about 35p :T

I did the chicken dinner, sat down - had 3 forks full and went and put it in the micro - even though it was tasty.. i realised i really wasn't hungry  .. and stopped myself from eating it regardless..... so i had that warmed up about an hour ago.. so no tea needed for me tonight :D ...

I have decided that im going to do a quick check of the freezers and fridges and see if i have enough to make our meals for the next 4 weeks or so... i should have.... thought i would try and not shop .. apart from a bit of extra milk... so my evening will be spent working out menu ideas... keep your fingers crossed :p ... its a case of me not going to the supermarkets just to get out and about.... should have plenty in... will just have to go for a walk out if i want some freah air.....
will deffinitely be treating myself to that lamp.... if i can be good and not buy more food :D .. bet they have gone when i get around to fetching one :rotfl:

Well folks - have a great evening -off to peer into the freezer...

This is it.. glad the yorkies and no potatoes worked for you n OH.... i think its a psychological thing for me... like if i have 2 potatoes and cut them in half..my brain says its getting more than the 2 potatoes i started with... guess im a little strange

  • I'm another ugh don't like the oatibix one, sorry ! looked, smelt and tasted like manky baby food to me :( mind you, I don't like weetabix but I love porridge and I think I was expecting the oatibix to taste like that. Don't worry all those taking a breather from the wagon, they're like buses, another 3 will turn up in a minute ready for you to hop on :D

I thought in some respects I'd unwagoned myself today but looking back, I didn't really. Had breakfast at Stanmer Park tearooms - really lovely - 2 slices of lovely back bacon, the proper stuff not all nitritey and oozing white gunk - a big fresh tomato, slice of granary toast and an egg - not a trace of grease on any of it ! Spent another two hours walking and then back there for another cuppa and some apple and sultana cake. Really lovely day and I was surprised and pleased at the distance and pace I managed to walk at considering I didn't sleep very well. I now feel pleasantly tired but like I've still got quite a lot of energy, if that makes any sense. I really am going to make an effort to start ( briskly ) walking 20 mins a day, unless its peeing down with rain, even if its just locally and 10 mins in one direction then walk back.

When I've finished fannying around here on the PC :D going to roast some potatoes and parsnips to have with some of the mashed swede'n'carrot and cauli cheese from yesterday, the rest I will freeze down. I'm trying to make it a rule that while dinner is cooking I will crack on with some washing up etc instead of lounging around watching TV or online. Also am setting myself a personal mini storecupboard challenge this coming week to try and live off the food in my freezer/larder/fridge before buying more. Not got the broke before payday syndrome by any means but just would like to rotate the food stocks and be disciplined !
