An appalling £382.02 for me this month but I have a good reason: I'm buying a house
Lots of money has gone out for solicitors' costs on account, buyer's protection insurance etc. The lender did the valuation yesterday so keep your fingers crossed for me?
Well done to everyone sticking with it so far - next month we'll be half way through the year!!
Congrats Bobobski!!
How come you decided to buy now. I remember you mentioning either in this thread or the house deposit thread that you were planning to buy when you had 60k depost or so since house prices are so expensive in Cambridge.Homeowner:j0 -
I have managed £663 in May which is great as I had to pay the 6 monthly service charge on my flat this month also.

Declaring £1982.67 for May - and quite a few bitty expenses have added-up this month. Some bills still rolling-in from a holiday 2 months ago, plus a new shower. In other news: have signed-up for a Prudential AVC today so savings for the rest of this tax year will be heading there instead of the usual savings accounts. For the purposes of this thread I'm assuming I'll just count the AVC amounts the same as savings. That ok? Yes? Good.
Happy saving everyone.Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.0 -
Hi Everyone. #132 reporting savings of £400 - not great, but I am moreorless on target. Bringing my total to £1,8000

Good move on the AVC Geoffers! Wish I'd opened one years ago rather than the last couple before FIRE (Trade Mark geoffers4), it's free money even without any increase in share value.
I count my AVC (but not my main pension) as monthly saving, but don't count the tax saving or the increase in value. Should there be a catastrophic fall I've got a buffer. Come September when I retire, I will need to reconcile it all, and also declare my lump sum. I should have a mega amount (comparatively) that month, can't wait!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Well remembered Lolly! Yes that was Plan A. Plan B was to do the starter home with a 95% mortgage thing and one day I realised I had enough money to do that and pretty quickly decided it's what I wanted to do. Tough, as there's very little in that price bracket round these parts, and unfortunately things took a downward turn yesterday with the mortgage (valuation problems) so it may be that I'm back to square one - we'll see! Very glad I took out buyer's protection insurance, for which I have Skint Yet Again to thank!0 -
Fingers crossed for you Bobski, we did something similar five years ago and fortunately it paid off for us. Mr Halifax still owns our house (well 65% of it) but hopefully, when we come to move, it should provide a nice spring board. It's worth it but can be very stressful so look after yourself.x#138 - The "Save 12k in 2017" challenge :j
