Just updated for April. Another £1k added bringing me to £4k for the year.

My April wage (and all from now on) will be slightly less by around £125 as my work has changed around a little so losing this each month will mean a bigger payout in March 2018. My plan is to try to continue to save at the same rate (if it's possible!), then hopefully the payout will go straight to me deposit fund next year. Will see how it goes. I have a little bit extra in my current account to play with.

I really am desperate for a holiday but I'm trying so hard to keep focused and on track. I know a decent holiday will set me back around a month and I just wanna keep to the plan of reaching my target for the year.

Thank you to everyone who posts on here for keeping me motivated and focused on the end goal.

Laura, I totally feel you - especially with this rubbish weather it would be so easy to "slip" and book a holiday but we must stay strong!

A bumper month for me this April: £1,500.37 (just to annoy the OCD'ers). I've had income from Onepoll, Quidco and Prolific, and of course new tax year so automatic rise in net salary, but together these account for less than £100. I think I'm just getting extremely stingy - there was only one category in my budget I went over this month, and I could easily cover that with the categories I stayed within. Also I've quit smoking, which so far hasn't saved me a lot of money due to the cost of stocking up on e-cig supplies but it means I've saved £200 from May's budget!

Can't wait to see how much we can all save in May :)

Today I have added £255.59 to my savings for April to keep me on target for £4k up to now, £12k hopefully for the year. It's a good job I was a little ahead.

The last two months have been difficult, who knows what the future months hold, and this month we had a weekend away and had to buy a new to us car. Neither were planned.

    Hopefully May will be better.

All my regular savings are done - a credit card payment for holidays gives me a net of £400 this month. I think the next few months will be better :)

Just submitted my form for April - about £2-300 behind what I had hoped for but living in hope that we can make this up. We need a couple of frugal months really (no sh*t Batman!). Just over £850 this month

I count it as expenditure as paying off a loan doesn't give you more money to spend (it's actually spending your money - when you took out the loan and presumably used it for something, you were spending someone else's money). However, if you're more interested in net wealth you could treat it as savings for this challenge. Whatever works for you :)

I have a different view. Repaying loan is an increase of networth, just like putting money on a savings account.
It also savings you money by not paying interest, which is a direct drag on future savings ability... horses for courses?

Declaring £2110.09 saved for April. Also reducing my overall savings target for this year down to 7k as there's no way I'll reach 12k when I'm still in negative figures. Hoping to get back to where I was at the start of the year by June and then use the last 6 months of this year to try and reach 7k which will be a stretch but will get me to 30k total which is my next big landmark. If I achieve that this year it won't feel like such a disappointment savings wise.
