Declaring £2110.09 saved for April. Also reducing my overall savings target for this year down to 7k as there's no way I'll reach 12k when I'm still in negative figures. Hoping to get back to where I was at the start of the year by June and then use the last 6 months of this year to try and reach 7k which will be a stretch but will get me to 30k total which is my next big landmark. If I achieve that this year it won't feel like such a disappointment savings wise.
With a 30k goal I would think you are anything but a disappointment

Month 1 for me, target of 20k by the end of the year, 30k by mortgage app April 2018. Having not save a penny in 20 years so proud to declare £2400. £100 short of monthly goal but had a couple of once a year expenses. Going to be a tough and boring push through until the end of the year but be worth it next year when we are paying our own mortgage and not somebody else's!0

Reporting £2093.77 for April, with just a few unexpected extra costs - especially when the shower packed-up and needed replacing. Bit of a traumatic time at work at the moment too, with about 70 redundancies announced... but fortunately I've been told that I'm not one of them, thank goodness. But tough times for others who are affected.
Happy saving everyone - can't believe we are one-third through the year already!Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.0 -
#28 declaring £755 for April; I have had a good month this month and am looking forward to seeing how much I can save each month from now on.
Well done everybody; I find this thread so motivating.0 -
My update for April was a big, fat, whopping £0. Unexpected expenses have depleted my total so until I get back to £4046.00 (March total) I won't be declaring anythingMFiT-T7 #17 (Jan 2025) £193k (Apr) £177k (July) £

Declaring £1705.03 for April, I'm still struggling to really get on top of things this year with a continuous trickle of bits and pieces cutting in to the savings - decided that I need to sit down with a pen and paper and get some control over my finances again, as I've been a bit lazy these last few months0

Declaring for April.
Despite my earlier pessimism (predicated on our decision to concentrate on the mortgage and having spent a fortune on holiday) I have done the sums and I'm not faring anywhere nearly as badly as I thought i was. I think it unlikely that I'll get to the full £12k but i am going to try and continue with the challenge to see how far I get. Next month will not be great as I have a monster credit card bill brewing, but let's see how it goes!
Total balance across all accounts: £18,143.86
Starting balance: £12,976.79

#9 Reporting for March 2017. Sorry haven't been around much. Total of 2159.30. Things are looking abit healthier.. Well done Xenon for almost reaching your 100k milestone! That's alot of cash tho!! Beware inflation!
Wish everyone a Happy Easter!
Thank you - certainly a lot of cash for me !!elephantrosie wrote: »how old are you? any other assets like properties and investments?
I am 43 - not young but not quite an old codger just yet !
It's taken me quite a few years to build that up - wasted too many being lazy and not keeping my eyes on the ball (so to speak)
No properties/investments but looking to build up savings again when i find something to buy - with special focus on pensions.
This month i have saved £1320 and passed my magical deposit mark - now building the solicitor/fees/removals/emergency fund etc etc.0 -

You could still declare if you wanted to. I had a massive expense in Feb that wiped out over 4k of my savings. I delcared it as a negative and every declaration I've made each month since then has been my attempts to claw back to where I was in January....still not there yet. I think if I wasn't declaring each month, it would be easy to give up on the challenge altogether because there would be no accountability and overall I would be saving less. At least if you declare each month you'll still feel like your pat of it and it's motivating to see the deficit going down.Homeowner:j0
