hi all, no. 38 here, I thought April was going to be an awful month but it turned out to be unexpectedly bounteous so I can declare savings of £4,066.44, taking my yearly total so far to £7,475.85.
  • A poor show from April - 771.30. I need to check what i was spending on, as at this rate i won't be able to meet the target.

A quick update from me ... I have been very quiet the last 6 weeks or so! It finally happened! We found a house we love and had an offer accepted, fast forward a month and things are progressing nicely :) it does however mean that during April I was only able to save £100. I believe the following months will be a similar story as first time buyers we need EVERYTHING! but i will try and continue to put some away and hopefully towards the end of the year can start saving as normal!

Hi SF, still declaring £200 for April (#73), but can you up my total for the year to £10,000? Would like to push myself a little more (can be done quite easily with our joint income) :o. Many thanks! xx

So nice to see the encouragement on here :T. Some great numbers coming in, and even if you've had a poor month financially, give yourself a pat on the back and continue forward ;).

All the best for May! xx

Don't forget to pop in to the charity shops which usually have plenty of oven-proof dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils and mismatched crockery and cutlery, to populate your kitchen for pennies - you can always refresh them down stream when money isn't so tight. I have several pyrex dishes that were previously loved!

Very happy to report savings of £6341.60 for March! Although the temptation to spend is great, especially as it's my birthday today. The reason for the large amount is because my lease extension is nearing completion so I have drawn down my equity release loan and recouped all that I've paid out in the last 6 months.

Well done to everyone, no matter how big or small the amount, it all adds up.

Happy to report savings of £1028.83 for April. Back to my normal routine. Really proud of myself as I didn't over spend during my birthday trip to New York.

Well done to everyone. Let's keep up the good work.

off topic.... but really want to share my joy!

Pleased i have finally started investing! i am very good with savings and i saved on average 60% monthly since i started working 6.5 years ago. i have a huge sum of money sitting in my account doing nothing but i am now investing them. maybe not the right time because of impending market crush... i am very careful and only invest extra cash. not eating into my emergency fund, etc.
    Another night of thankfulness.

    April payday update!

I saved £1,141 in April - that's £4,445 so far in 2017 and £113,567 overall. Sometimes I imagine how much higher that figure would be if interest rates hadn't been at rock bottom for the last 8 years, but I feel proud that I'm still able to save at a good rate.

Well done everyone, and thanks as ever to slowlyfading for keeping this amazing thread going!
