A bit late submitting my March total, I've altered my (hopeful) savings for the year from £2500 to £8000.

I was saving to have the driveway done this Autumn, nothing special just paviers and tarmac but it will make the place look a lot tidier. Had a couple of quotes/estimates, they landed at 27k and 32k a bit more than I hoped. I may have to wait a little longer before it's done :(

Hi, I know it's a little late bit I would love to join, I'm running April to April so on month one but dividing my target of 30k by 3/4's gives me a target of 22500 by the end of december. Target is for first time buyer mortgage so committed 100%!.
  • I know I'm incredibly late but I would like to join too, if possible! We're getting married next year and need to save around £12,000 by next June so I'm going to try for £10,000 by December.

Standing Orders are due out tomorrow but I will be away from my computer so I am declaring now, for April.
    I have saved £1750...

Had a maturing Regular Saver this month from Kent BS, so I have taken the balance off my total as I used it to pay off one of my credit cards.

I will now have a maturing Regular Saver every two months till the end of the year, so hopefully my savings will balance out come the end of the year.

    Happy potting all

  • Hello all, and welcome to the new joiners!!

Just declaring my April savings of £689.93 - I got a pay rise and 90% of that is going to my monthly savings from now on, plus i got over £100 compensation from my train company for their shocking service last year...!

Hope everyone else is getting on well! :-)

  • so inspired just from reading all the replies. i dont have an aim for the year as i dont really calculate how much i keep. i do use an app to keep track of how much i spend and on average i save at least 60% of my monthly salary.
    Another night of thankfulness.

I count it as expenditure as paying off a loan doesn't give you more money to spend (it's actually spending your money - when you took out the loan and presumably used it for something, you were spending someone else's money). However, if you're more interested in net wealth you could treat it as savings for this challenge. Whatever works for you :)

I do the same as Bob, and count it as expenditure for this challenge, but I separately count my reducing debt liabilities and do my off-set calculations between realisable savings and debt liabilities on a regular basis (more so since I started a diary)
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
