Number 46 checking in for January.

£830 saved which I'm pretty pleased with.

Just been paid and it's a little more than I was expecting so need to access the payslip to find out if it's something to chase up or whether I've simply made a miscalculation somewhere.

    Declaring £920.42 for January!

    HTB ISA - £200
    Sharesave - £223
    P2P - £497.42

Positive start for the year, had to do lots of jiggling around because my Nationwide RS matured in January and TSB Classic Account rate was reduced on a smaller balance. Opening Tesco 3% current account, 2 new P2P accounts (RateSetter and MoneyThing).

What are people's thoughts on MoneyThing? I haven't deposited any money yet because I hardly ever see available funding on their loan page and I don't want money sitting in there doing/earning nothing!

MoneyThing is great - one of the best P2P sites IMO. I would highly recommend. Loans come up fairly regularly you just need to be available at 4pm on the day it goes live to get a slice but they give you ample warning and deposit money in your account quickly.

Might seem a silly question, but do you have to have money deposited in your account before you can put money into a loan?

Yes you do but as i mentioned they tend to deposit funds very quickly. A loan was due to go live at 4pm on Monday and I had forgotten to put funds in. But I deposited money at at 3.55pm and by 4.10pm it was in my Moneything account ready to invest - and this during a time where the website was very slow due to high traffic as lots of people were trying to get a loan.

    Alright everyone!

I had saved a low £175.76 this month, mainly because I had to lend to relatives.

I received £29.10 in savings interest from current accounts, and £14.64 in dividends from investment funds. Hopefully February will be much better.

    Good luck everyone! :)

Bad start to the month thanks to paying £1,700 for an exam. Puts me into the red to the tune of -£238.92. Oh well, onwards and upwards! I'll submit at the end of February when I'm back in positive balance so I don't detract from the total so far.

January form submitted, managed to save £918.93 this month which is huge for me.

Progressing nicely towards my target, hoping for similar numbers over the next few months.

Well done everyone, it's nice to read all of the comments to see how everyone is doing and to help stay motivated.

Good luck to all in February!
