I'm gutted I can't post my first month yet. But the good news (for those who remember that my company went under in December so I lost my job) is that I have a new job... and a pay rise. The only downside is they pay on the last working day of the month and I'm itching to start posting my numbers, even though they're going to be awful for January!!
Awesome! Congratulations on your new job :TSaved Nitty Gritty £7440.75 [149%] / £5000-[Sep] £58.44:starmod: for the 'Save 12k in 2017' #157

Some mixed first months on here I see - lots of people doing great and lots of people feeling the January pinch!

Really pleased to hear you have another job. I always get paid on the last working day too and my word, was it a struggle this month.

DH gets paid on the 26th or the Friday before so cash-flow restored for us after a hard long month, mostly living out of the freezer and cupboards (filled up my car with fuel and been to stock up at the sm so far this morning!) but I can't declare my savings total until Tuesday.
I keep catching myself anticipating my council tax payment savings in Feb and March, and then I remind myself that I have the house buildings and contents that will be 4 times that amount (we are in an old thatched cottage before anyone tells me to try a comparison site - they don't work for us). I just have to wait.
Yesterday I moved my 2016 Regular Saver money back from the new account with pathetic interest that HSBC moved it to - and I used the majority of it to pay off the remaining finance on a car. Not my car - I finished that in December - this was money I borrowed from DS and then bought the car on finance to reimburse him. So I am a bit better off each month.

The first few updates of this year are going be very low because I'm moving yet again in a few weeks and starting a new job so probably won't get on track until April.
For this month I declare £338.16. The target for 12k this year is feeling overly ambitious at the moment.Homeowner:j0 -
(Slowlyfading I've updated the easy update form with the below)
First update for 2017 and I'm pleased with how it went. I saved the following:
£600 - Personal Stocks and Shares ISA
£100 - Junior Stocks and Shares ISA (for my new baby daughter)
£19.23 - January interest gained from TSB and Nationwide high interest current accounts (transferred to S&S ISA)
£125 - Sharesave Scheme
Total - £844.23 / 2017 Running Total - £844.230 -
#87 reporting...
Managed to save £1011.77 this month, despite booking a holiday and paying the deposit. Quite pleased with that.
I hope I can keep this up... it looks like we may have a wedding to plan and I desperately need some new glasses!0 -
Good to see i was added to the list !
Looking to save £12,000 this year
January - £ 1097
I have been keeping a spreadsheet for over a year now - finding that very handy in keeping track of everything.
After years of renting looking to buy a small 1 bed flat for myself - have about £98,000 saved looking for £100,000 then maybe buy(cash) or max £25-30K mortgage.
As time goes on this year looking to put more and more into pensions.
Then start looking at investments
After years of being lazy i have started to look at SIPPS,investments etc etc.
43 years old now have to look at the future a little more.0 -
