hi all no. 38 reporting for October and for the third month in a row I've not managed a cent, alas - this month I've had to book a sojourn to the other side of the world to see the family and have had some repairs to the house, all necessary but expensive. Sigh. There are no huge expenses coming up for November or December so I'm still confident of meeting target, still only a tantalisingly small amount away. This will be the smallest amount I have saved for three years. :(

That may be so cathybird, but you are still saving! You reference having to book your trip to the other side of the world. We can only imagine how few people would be able to accommodate that and still save a bit of money. Well done I say! :T

I have also had a very testing month and savings are the lowest this year, at just over £360 for October - partly because I "borrowed" £250 to see us through so I have knocked this off our total. I am amazed there is any, to be honest!

  • Number 46 reporting in for October.

Managed to save £852 this month with the credit card paid off in full from last month's holidays, so pretty happy with that. Should manage to just about hit my target by the end of December with hopefully a good November and an average December.

Also finally getting my pension sorted at the new job.It turns out it's a salary sacrifice scheme which is great, might need to up the contributions a little to take full advantage! No doubt the investment options the company has gone for on my behalf are average at best with high management charges, but I'll deal with that when the full information comes through.

As for November, no big spends planned apart from booking flights for christmas and hoping to start decreasing the petrol costs by carpooling to work. Have identified 2 people who have to drive pretty much past mine, so very keen to get something going and split petrol costs. Will also try to keep up an average of cycling once a week, but now that the clocks have gone back it might be a slightly optimistic target!

Keep up the good work everyone, we're nearly there!

    Hi Everyone

Oof life has been expensive recently - the dog had to have a short stay at the vets so that's 600 quid gone onto the credit card. Hopefully it's on the mend now though. We've also paid for most of our break in the Canaries coming up in 2 weeks. So reporting £1826.23 for October.

Just 2 months to go now... if the dog will just stay well perhaps I can still hit my target for the year, we'll see!

#6 declaring £680.5 for this month and £5142.19 in total for this year. After a shaky start I'm finally turning things around and should hit my target for this year.

  • So after getting the interest from Nationwide for October I can declare £998.29. Just shows what can be achieved when I have a good month!

Total savings now roughly £4,600. With any luck I reckon I can hit £6,000 before the end of the year depending on Christmas but if I manage another two £1000 months I could still hit my £7000 target. It was always a stretch but it may just be doable!

#69 with £3,057.32 for October, taking me to £26,322 for the year to date. After a slow start to the year it has been a good few months on the savings front, and November is looking the best yet - i've already stashed away enough this month to take me past my £30k target for the year.
  • No 44 reporting in. I saved £250 this month but raided £600 for my holiday so minus £350. £7,250/£7,500. Will check actual balances later this month and correct if I was wrong.

  • #186 reporting -£375.67 for September (my birthday month and I spent a lot of money....a LOT!) and a saving of £945.02 for October making a total of £8,802.27 / £12,000

New target of £10,000 for me I think!
