Thanks. If I put slug pelllets they will explode all over the cupboard won't they?
    Same with salt barrier?
I was hoping I could get pest control from the council to come for free? ;-)

    You're not serious?
They're not pests. Rats or foxes are pests.
You might as well ask the council to come out and remove your spiders' webs.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Many thanks for your replies...looks like I'll have to conquer my fears then!
Pelletts it is, marigolds on! At least slugs move very slowly...and I can run fast!
  • Oh? They don't do spiders either? ;-) only kidding.
Am just really freaked out by them that's all. Thanks for your reply.

My parents had this problem while I was staying there last year, the most important advice I can give you is to invest in a pair of slippers

    Hi

For the past couple of weeks on one or two occasions I have seen on a morning 1 or 2 slugs in my kitchen  There have been 2 in the bathroom as well climbing up the tiles and on the bath. The kitchen and bathroom and next to each other (bungalow). Where could they be coming from and how on earth do I get rid.

Ive put salt inside and slug pellets outside but this morning I could see slug trails over my kitchen door mat. There are quite a lot outside the property as well but for the life of me I cant see how they can get inside unless they are coming through the back door. I've just got today some copper tape but am not sure where to put it outside the door or outside or both.

Please help its freaking me out big time.

    Wait till the mice appear.

    Only joking.
  • That's funny, because there was one in my back porch this morning, I just scooped it up on a tissue and threw it out! I just assumed it had got in when my top window was on the latch the previous day, has your kitchen window been open at any time recently? they could have got in and hidden somewhere :rotfl:
  • For the past few months we are regularly going downstairs in the morning and finding slug trails on our living room carpet. They are mainly around the sofa and under the sofa. We have left slug pellets everywhere but this has made no difference. Needless to say we can't find any slugs. Yesterday we literally tore the room apart looking for it/them. There are no holes that we can find in the skirting boards, the walls are wallpapered and the carpet was only fitted professionally last year and there are definitely no holes or gaps in that we can see. There are no windows in the room, just a set of patio doors, these are double glazed and newly fitted in 2008. There are airbricks on the outside but it does have cavity walls that were insulated last year. This morning much to my annoyance, there are fresh slug trails- how on earth can they be getting in? Has anyone got any ideas how we can rid ourselves of these nasty slugs? Please please please someone help me- it's driving us mad!
  • Every night we have started entertaining something which leaves a slime trail in our living room!!
This has happened before and it was a tiny slug thing, goodness knows how it gets inside?? We caught him/her in the act late one night.
So we must have the next generation slug visiting. Do you think I could put salt down on my rug tonight in the hope it will crawl over it and die ? And would i also be able to hoover it up ok with no damage to rug in the morning?

I can only assume its getting in from a wall which faces outside. Used to have this problem in an Victorian terrace. Woke up in the early hours to find my dogs food bowl heaving with them. It was like something out of a horror film.

I ended up buying a huge tub of value salt, and putting a trail of it, around the outside walls/door which prevented them coming in.
  • If you have no pets/kids then salt will work.

I find scooping the slug up with the cat litter spade & flinging it out the back door to a nearby chicken quite theaputic (not for the slug obviously).

No idea how they get in either & they squish quite badly if you don't see them:eek: & tread on them
